To be frank, I don't look at these multi-inning relief appearances as having a ton of bearing on Grant's ability to be a starter. That said, I don't see a reason to mess with what works and try to stretch him out to become a starter. The Sox had their reasons to make him a reliever and I think they made sense. I don't like the multi-inning save here because he looked iffy in his first inning. Of course, your starter came out so early that you had no choice but to take some gambles with the bullpen usage. I understand why two innings of Grant was one of the gambles. Multi-inning Newcomb was another one and it didn't work out at all and he gave up a run. That led to needing to use Eisert and that also cost a run.

Pitching simply isn't up to par and it's becoming more of a factor as the season rolls on.

6th time this year the Sox had a lead in the 7th inning or later and lost the game.

We'll see how they respond Friday with a pitching match up that is not in their favor.

Watching Taylor, there is nothing in the way he pitches that makes me think he has a prayer of starting. I’m confident the organization agrees with me.

Chuck mentioned on his recent podcast that Cleveland was bad in every offensive category except walks (and SB if you count that). When I heard that it made me pause…Sox don’t usually handle it well when the opposition forces them to throw strikes.

I see a guy who pitches well in relief and I was convinced by comments made by Brian Bannister about the poor health results of starting pitchers with deliveries like his. No need to mess with what mostly works IMO. If they want to use him beyond a narrowly confined 1 inning role, that's cool with me but you have to treat him like any reliever who may or may not need a quick hook on any given night.

Seriously though, this Watson kid is just way TF to comfortable against us, if we don't drill his ass tomorrow, we have no balls...up near his head, put the fear of God on him 😎

And only one of those 3 BS was in a typical 1 inning save outing.

Its pretty clear the org needs to set Seranthony as the setup guy, a job he has always been good at, and Taylor in the 9th. Try it until it succeeds or massively fails, and then try something else.

If you’re Dominguez, what’s going through your head. Been used once, in the 6th inning, since blowing back to back saves. Used Eisert ahead of him tonight and had Taylor go 2 innings instead of allowing him to face the bottom of the order. Actions speak louder than words and they’re screaming lack of trust at the moment.
