So here's a bit of data that might explain why it feels that way. Overall, he chases less than league average. But with 2 strikes, he's a good tick above league average at chasing (compared to the league's average with 2 strikes). So to some extent he avoids chasing by being passive. I started looking for this when I was surprised by how not-that-bad Brooks Baldwin's chase rate was (it's because he was so passive early in the count and near-worst in MLB at chasing with 2 strikes) relative to how it felt when I watched him

Good stuff….Baldwin did seem like someone that would chase when he got two strikes

They need help, but they need to get better beyond a few trades. A lot of sloppy play lately.

Judging by the ESPN pitching diagrams, it looks like Schultz was really getting squeezed - not getting any calls on the corners; I don't know whether those diagrams are accurate, but if they are, better framing and/or challenging could help..

Luck first career HR by a no-name Yankee, Mindless send by our third base coach, the usual walks by Noah who reached his sorry 3.5 inning limit, Pereira swinging at air - looked like he should not have been promoted, Quero asleep at the wheel and just bad all around, ...anyway, the game should have been much closer but you have to play to win games, not just avoid losing. Try to win two games or maybe at least one against the depleted Yankee team.

Disappointing homestand so far. 1-3 since coming back home.

Fixing the away woes weren't supposed to come at the expense of the home success.

Junior Pérez last swing was a homer, and then he gets immediately sent down. I would have giving another opportunity. Pereira did not perform well tonight.

Terrible send, on Montgomery to the plate. Take it back one step. Why no pinch runner for a guy essentially playing on one leg late in the game? Number 10 does his job again and Montgomery is an easy out limping to home plate.

Are you saying Montgomery should have been pinch run for in the inning he was thrown out at home? Wasn’t that the 5th inning?

Sox just suck against the Yankees. One of those teams who have our number. It is what it is.

White Sox, Indians and Twins are all struggling around .500 these days. But Sox continue to keep a small lead. Maybe one of the teams will make a decisive trade but if not this race may go into September with all 3 fighting it out.

Kind of fancy us today against Cole. He's not been great as of late and the Yankees still struggle against left handed starting pitchers.
