  • Yeah, much better to hear JR for the last 45+ years, minus an aberration. Am I right?

  • I’ll be honest…I’d have been way more mad if we dealt Bonemer or Carlson for Detmers for this deal.

  • Chicago White Sox

You are a fucking clown…go Stan for Jerry Reinsdorf some more you dolt

Sox are taking on money and therefore some risk. Didn't really give anything up, but you better be right that Castillo's bad year is just a blip rather than him losing the battle to Father Timel

What a predictable take.

Trading for an all star 5 years ago is the Sox sweet spot

Kenny must be still advising

This season and next. Vesting option for 2028 if he throws 180 innings next season.

take the keys away from Getz

At least if it’s dumb it shows we’re willing to spend $$$. That, of itself, is nice to see.

When right, Castillo is a bonafied ace. Probably needs change of scenery

Not a rental

Oh Castillo has one more year after 26?

Seattle took all of Seranthony’s money. That’s like $15 mil. If Castillo doesn’t vest for $25 mil, Sox are out like $23 mil. Not ideal, but whatever. Of course, if Seranthony is suddenly fixed…

Getz probably thought Castillo can pitch with both hands

Someone made the joke yesterday about seeing so and so at the airport because he had dreadlocks. I almost jokingly corrected them and said “that’s Luis Castillo” lol

If you took out Boston Smith, maybe the trade would make some sense. I can’t fathom how taking on a worse contract than the one we gave up required us to give up a legitimate prospect. I don’t even have words honestly.

I don't know anything about Boston so cant comment fully but they desperately need another starter so if he can shore up the rotation its a win to me. Their sp has been carrying them the second half but its bound to regress. Seranthony and his low leverage innings is easily replaceable

He’s been terrible on the road for a while. Won’t be pitching in a pitcher’s park half the time now.

I'm going to be honest here and say I have no clue who Nolan Jones is.

So he's making $24 mil next year. You trade Dominguez's salary of $10 million and you're effectively paying him $14 million next year. If he's bad, he's not throwing 180 innings anyways, so the vesting option is whatever.

From peralta to castillo is wild. What a downgrade.

A change of scenery out of Seattle and that park and pitching org to ours?

How is castillo worth anything at his full contract. Guys got negative value. Just weird. He's washed

I was hoping for Robbie Ray

Castillo good June bad July, four starts each. Glass half full - maybe due for good Aug.

Was the Peralta stuff even real?

I wonder if:

A.) They buy into the fact that the way Seattle has thrown him around really has effected him

B.) Maybe they have identified something they believe will help him return to form.

C.) Value his playoff push / playoff experience. ( I haven’t looked into his numbers for those situations yet.)

It’s a head scratcher for me at first but if this is one of two starting pitchers we add as the lesser add, we have plans to bring up McDougal, and we also get a catcher / RH bat / more help in the pen - it may make sense.

Would have rather had this be for Kirby.

Yeah I don't know. On the surface this is trading for a guy who isn't a starter anymore. I sure hope they see something they can fix.

My first reaction is that I don't hate it, most of the risk here is the money. You're more or less buying low. He's been pretty effective right up until this season. There's not an obvious dropoff with his stuff that explains the dropoff in productivity. So maybe the brain trust has an idea how to get him back on track.

dump his 10 million? they just absorbed over 25 mil and potentially 50 mil

I’m not too worried about the 2028 vesting option…just no idea why we wanted to pay Castillo $25M or whatever next year and give up Boston Smith for that luxury. And yes, I get Dominguez was a bad contract that we’re dumping. It’s all very perplexing to me.
