Getz wasn’t raked over the coals. None of us should give a s%*# about money. The only drawback is Smith, an unproven guy in AA who isn’t doing a damn thing for us to help win games this season.

He's struck out 13 guys in July and given up 7 home runs.

I will stick to the White Sox took on payroll in lieu of giving up a big prospect. That is still a plus vs old white Sox. I’d be more pissed if they dealt Carlson for Detmers.

I do think we may see them go get Mason Miller. I still think that is the splash move Getz makes…

I do think they will acquire Adley to play catcher as long as his injury isn’t serious.

The Sox gave up nothing in this trade besides Smith. The vast majority of this fanbase wanted Dominguez gone for awhile now. Castillo isn’t what he once was, but he clearly fills a need here and sending Dominguez’s contact the other way evens out the money a bit.

They still need another starter. But I think the people saying the Sox got fleeced are crazy.

FWIW, the projection models still think he's a 4 ERA/4 FIP guy. That's fine for a 3rd starter. I do wonder how those projections might change when he no longer pitches in Seattle tho.

You’re comparing apples to oranges - free agency to trade market. We have seen the Sox pick up the number 1 trade target in the deadline a few times and we have watched them bring in multiple pieces at a deadline before.

I actually think it is foolish to think they aren’t talking about bringing on some heavy guys still and flirting with the idea of including Schultz to do it.

And he's had a consistent career of being aces with this year being a decided down year. There are countless players that have down year in the middle of a strong career. Hell, we tried to run Konerko out of town at one point.

I would rather take on the risk of this year and next year's contract if it only means money. Yes, I'm assuming Ishbia is making more financial decisions here and it isn't all how Jerry has always worked, but one of these moves has to signal the transition to taking a risk on contracts rather than selling all of our prospects.

He hasn’t been a legit TOR starter since like 2022.

The price of every starter has been high. Even Dean Kremer got a legit prospect in return. Maybe I'll feel better once some of the other guys get dealt and those deals look like overpays too.
