Seems clear the Sox weren't interested in giving up anything for rentals.

This almost feels personal. They can work out a post deadline trade no if he clears waivers?

39 as of now, but the pressure isn't going anywhere right? they have some additions to think about pitching wise and position player from IL.

This one surprised me. They had to cut somebody, I guess. Thought it would be Grichuk, or however you spell it.

Pereira, hits double and homerun, next game DFA. Junior Perez, two run home run, next game demoted to AAA. The fringe outfielders better be careful with how well they play lol.

Getz somehow seemingly made the team worse with this series of moves. Am I missing something?

Doyle < Pereira

Not sure how the team is worse. They improved 3 roster spots, and maybe they trust Doyle's defense over Pereira's as a CF platoon. I want to say that play on Saturday, 8th inning, flyball to CF, Pereira didn't dive, or block the ball that dropped in front of him. Monty was backing him up, but that may have made the decision for them.

Major leaguers can't change teams through a trade. I think he's either claimed, or not.

Overall, I agree. I was specifically referring to the Doyle trade and Pereira DFA moves. Just focusing on those moves, I’d rather have Adams, Vielma, and Pereira over Doyle. I think what Adams could have done for the bullpen along with Pereira in the outfield is more than what Doyle will provide.

I’m sort of shocked by the Pereira DFA, I thought his performance on Sunday was a good sign of the future for him. Forgotten in all of this is Austin Hays, what don’t the Sox like about him.

I think the fact that Periera wasn’t traded for literally anything before the deadline speaks about his value around the league. Im sure a bad team will give him a shot to stick the rest of the year, but fringe hitting corner OF’s that are out of options aren’t easy to keep on a contending team.

I think the plan was to hide Hays on the IL until this all washed out and they see what they have. They can send Doyle to AAA and bring up Hays for a run.

If Pereria clears waivers he can go to AAA for the rest of the year.

Why do you think would Pereira clear waivers? There has to be one bad team out there that has room for a 25 year old outfielder with power.

I think Getz was trying to move Hays/Pereira and simply ran out of time or no one was that interested in trading for them.

Pereira ought to be an Angel this time next week. They got some holes.

That makes sense. They just traded Adell, not like he was any sort of stud, but their outfield is really ugly now. Pereira could start for them today.

Royals come to mind as a team that can give him everyday at bats.

Hays has 7 hits, 4 of which stayed in the park in his last 5 games in Charlotte and I believe his rehab assignment is up on 8/6. I can't imagine Hays is a DFA candidate, does that spell the end of Grichuck? Doyle goes down and we have two of the same guy in Grichuk and Hays?

They need to keep someone who can back up all three outfield spots unless they plan on it being Acuna...

Agreed, I'm surprised they couldn't get a lotto ticket for Grichuk or Hays yesterday.

Center Field defense is key. Pereira could not cover CF. I am not going to panic because Peters has been in a slump. I think he has been over-aggressive, kind of like Colson, and has to make some adjustments. Take a few pitches here and there, learn how to defend the plate with 2 strikes, go oppo or to get a longer look at the pitch, and cut down the swing. Whatever, Sox have a hitting coach. Meanwhile, Peters is a gazelle in the outfield. I don't care about slumps and splits, he has to be out there almost every game.

That was the rumor. Not sure if the amount of cash considerations the Sox sent the Mariners was released. But it looks like it would be $10 million in salary for Seranthony next season.

I have not heard if Pereira was picked up yet, I assume he will be. But if does not I would welcome him back.
