I don't know why he does that. Sam and Mune are both high-volume, low-success challengers who often use them early. I'll give catchers more grace on firing off the challenges relatively early. I think that's the Sox philosophy too that they really don't want the hitters burning challenges at all. Yet Sam loves the "I'm fooled the first time seeing a pitcher and have to challenge it early in the count" challenge. Have to tie his hands at this pointEspecially a guy that should be able to make a lot of contact and isn’t a power threat

PCA is the best player in MLB, and you don’t let him beat you. Take my chances with Suzuki…PCA was also seeing the ball well in this game. Venablehas been very disappointing lately. imo.
2 hours ago2 hr Always disappointing to lose to the Cubs especially when you had a great shot against them.10th time this season the Sox had a lead in the 7th inning or later and lost the game.BUT it's the third time this has happened in the last 11 games. Something to keep an eye on.Given the pitching situation this may have been their best chance to win at Wrigley. This division hasn't been won yet, not even close. Edited 2 hours ago2 hr by Lip Man 1

The velocity stuff is overplayed around here.He has elite extension, so the velocity isn't as big of an issue. The bigger issues are his control and that his velocity dips a lot if he has to go past the first inning. For someone who has aspirations to be a starter, that can't happen.
2 hours ago2 hr Hagen has a quite extreme release point and he throws harder than most guys who release it so far to the side. Most of those guys have fastballs that play well above their velo and shape metrics. He pairs it with high extension which is also unusual and helps a fastball play above the velo reading. The other thing that is true of most of the few guys who release it where he does is that they struggle to throw strikes. Most similar release point to Hagen's in the league is actually Bryan Hudson, whose career has been defined by whether he can fill up the zone. You can see how Hudson gets by: he just kinda aims at the middle of the zone and lets the chips fall where they may (usually the batter fails to square up a 91mph heater in the meat of the plate)

Rogers is even worse on offense than Romo too. Romo at least has home run potential. I see nothing on offense from Rogers and he isn't close to Pudge Rodriguez level defense to offset his shitty ABsNo between Romo and everyone else who caught this year.Catcher Situation White Sox Record Win %Drew Romo Starts 33–13 .717All Other Catchers (Quero, Teel, McGuire, Rogers)26–43 .377Also 5 shutouts when he's catching or 1 every 9 games versus 3 for the other catchers or 1 every 23 games. Doyle has been bad and Brazoban hasn’t been great. They desperately needed another starter to cover these innings.Yeah Castillo not making it out of the 5th in 2 of his starts where the bullpen was absolutely gassed is not something you want out of a guy who is supposed to be a workhorse veteran.

At least from a velocity perspective.

We live in an era where Anthony Kay can hit 97 as a starter.
2 hours ago2 hr Alright, I've decided I'm already over it.Played a sloppy game with the B lineup on the road, it took a selectively blind ump and most of the leverage arms being unavailable to help them lose it.Would have loved the win and I think they should have had it, but the sweep in Detroit was a much bigger deal so I'll trade losing to an NL team today for that. They bounced back after losing game 1 of the previous crosstown, just find a way in these next two to come home with a winning road trip and keep it moving.

Supposedly the tweet with this info went viral but I think I've been the only one who mentioned it and I don't pay attention to X. I first saw it in MLB trade rumors in the comments section . Then I guess later it popped up in a tweet. I mentioned it a couple of days ago.The numbers are different though like yeah they said the same general result but I think the one in MLBTR had Romo 10 games above .500 not 20 so I don't know what the true results are.
