He’s pointless to this roster or any roster if he’s just as easily going to walk a guy as opposed to striking them out.

Why aren’t you cussing Vargas? He cost us more runs than Hagan.

Gonna be there all three. I get fired up for this series. I hate the Cubs. Our teams play the same sport--in the same league--in the same city. As far as I'm concerned if you grew up here and that

6:40 starts and the pitch clock means weeknight games end at like 9:15 now. 7:11 starts and no pitch clock, games ended close to 11 PM. Much prefer the current format. Now I have time to watch the gam

He walks an absurd amount of guys. You’ve seen him pitch, he’s had a horse shoe up his ass to get through innings.

He almost hit PCA in the knee with his second pitch. He has no idea where it’s going.

You pitch Brazoban and walk PCA. You let the best player in the NL beat you with an open base.

Tie game in the bottom of the 10th with the Manfred man, I don't like Brazoban. He's a contact pitcher, it's going to be real hard for him to keep that runner from scoring

The ever elusive 8 games above .500 😭

Hagen=2020 Rodon out of the pen

I forgot about that. He was ao bad. And then magically turned it around the next season.

His biggest issue is trying to be a new age guru with the bullpen. Name Taylor your closer and Hicks your set up man. Hicks had what it takes to be a high leverage set up man. We would stop getting ourselves into this situation.

Too many automatic outs in the Sox line-up lately and Rogers and Doyle added to that list.

I'm disappointed at how wild he is combined with how underwhelming his stuff looks. He doesn't look like a major leaguer to me currently.

Underwhelming stuff? He had stuck out 13.5 per 9 coming into tonight. His issue is command / control. The velocity stuff is overplayed around here.

I know it’s worked, but this is also why you can’t just start throwing guys 35-40 pitches out of the pen in games.

What? Vargas is a great player, that's why. We can't be critical of Hagen Smith because Vargas had a bad game?

Manager Will wet the bed again. Dumb and dumber today than usual. How does he massage his way through not intentionally walking the NL MVP who is hotter than hell at the plate will be laughable to hear at the least.

TLR would have walked PCA even.

Or gone to two strikes and then intentionally walked him.

Better bring back that blonde girl to heckle him from the beachers lol.

Except nobody will be able to hear her except for pre game.

The game should have been a Sox win in regulation, Hicks should have had two K's and a save.

Some of the overreactions on this thread are embarrassing. You'd think we had just lost our hundredth game. Flush it and win tomorrow. We should hit Gausman like a piñata.

It's frustrating because this game should've been a Sox win, we fucked our ownselves, a Vargas error that gifted two runs, ump misses clear strikes in the 9th that would've ended the Cuba rally and Rogers not challenging clear strikes vs Bergman.

Sox grabbed defeat from the jaws of victory, that's why it's so frustrating.

Webb is on a 22.2 IP scoreless streak. Good golly

Vargas literally cost us the game. Hagen doesn’t even pitch if Vargas doesn’t f*** up multiple times.

My point is that the scapegoating on this board is dumb. Yall choose your sacrificial lambs but refuse to put the onus on someone you like. That’s some meathead fan s%*#.

I'm still pissed at Rogers not challenging that pitch to Bregman. He even fucking paused to think about it and did nothing about it. Then he challenged out of frustration on the next pitch that wasn't a strike. That changed the Bregman AB and also took us out of challenging the last pitch to Happ.

The Sox have to do better with challenges. It's costing us games.

They should have challenged that pitch and the one they challenged was a waste.

I wasn’t sure why they didn’t put the bunt down with Acuna on base and nobody out. Take the base and get two bites at the apple.

They needed six hard outs after they took the lead and couldn’t get them. The lack of a defined closer and a bullpen that gets used without definitive starters makes this team fragile at times. At least they were competitive tonight after being down early. Not a great night offensively and Castillo needed to be better.

Might as well have been Darian HAGAN pitching to PCA...

By having set roles, I think he'd avoid this.

Just another game where the catcher kills the Sox. Has happened so much this year. He’s truly awful

This is why despite all the hate for Romo they win when he catches.

I know a lot of other things factor into wins but when its that lopsided I prefer the catcher the pitchers like to throw to.

Balls/strikes need to be fully ABS

Many people didn’t think it was ever a good idea to call up Smith to begin with. He walks the world. He already has more walks than innings pitched and he doesn’t even have 5 innings pitched under his belt yet. Not a guy who should be pitching in a playoff race.

Edited by WhiteSox2023

I have to think Rogers has at least a little more in the tank than this, but his first couple games with the Sox could hardly have been any worse

This was probably a series where you were hoping to win 1 of 3. Just find a way to do that. Cubs are good and at home while the Sox pitching staff is stretched thin. Just a tough series for them.

The one Rogers didn't challenge almost had the entire ball in the zone. Seriously, f*** this ump. Rogers was stupid not to challenge, but missing a blatant strike like that is just terrible.
