Not gonna lie, I'm feeling a little nervous with how dogshit out rotation is. Cleveland improved at the deadline and we somehow got worse.

Cleveland has won 5 of 6 getting to play the best of the best; SF, COL, LAA. Only 2.5 games up now and Cleveland still has 2 more with LAA then play KC at home. Their deadline acquisitions are helping them.

It would be a real gut punch to miss the playoffs after leading the division all season and actively making the team worse at the trade deadline.

Yes we make the playoffs as an 84 win division winner, for whatever that is worth.

(It’s probably worth a first round exit to an AL east wildcard team that we struggle to win 1 game against)

Also, we have been a .500 team since May 31 - about a 70 game stretch. I think there’s no reason to think that we are better or worse than .500 the rest of the way.

I posted this in another thread, but the Sox are 9-11 since the trade deadline. Luckily for the Sox, the Guardians are 9-10 in the same stretch but have just improved their play the past week.

It’s probably just whichever team goes on a hot streak wins the division.

Currently the last wild card, Cleveland is .500. 31 games to go. We would have to go worse than 13-18 to finish below .500. I think we are running on fumes but will make it. We need a couple bats to get hot and some pitchers to give us some innings. I think we make it.

The math looks good to get in, but beyond that....

I do believe you are seeing the cracks in the armor though. Would it surprise me if they missed, not really, but someone will need to get hot to beat them, which is the part I am not sure of.

The Sox imo will drop out of 1st place at some point, probably sooner than later, and will have to inch or climb their way back in, which will be, based on the way this team is currently performing, a somewhat daunting situation.

I think they'll make the playoffs, but it will be a photo finish. The division will likely be won within the last week of the season. Going anywhere beyond the first round looks tough with the starting pitching woes.

I personally think it will come down to the series against the Guardians we have left. If our Sox win just one of those games they take the season series and will win the division. If Cleveland sweeps and thus takes the tie breaker too, the Guardians win the division.

Yes. There is no indication the White Sox will do what the Tigers did last year.

We play .500 ball goddammit. Salt of the earth, punch the clock, even win/loss ratio baseball. We lose a couple, guess what? We'll win a couple, too. But don't get too excited or let it go to your head. No long winning streaks here, no sir. That's hubris, which this blue collar, hard working everyman team doesn't have. A few wins in a row, these guys, true to form, will balance it out with a couple a losses. Yes sir, that's my 2026 White Sox. A good, honest .500 baseball team.

I think they make the playoffs only as a function of how bad the American League is this year. I mean, it would not surprise me at all if they fall below .500, but this year is a huge success for the development of the team (and an expected one to some) if they win 78 games. I only wish they'd gone after a stud SP in free agency last year because the next class isn't quite as good. Still some decent options, but would've been nice to get somebody like Ranger or Framber.

I still think they make the playoffs - but I can see the toll this recent stretch has had on them. Still - they basically had a .500 week last week and they had the lead in every Cubs game late (only one 1)...so reality is they treaded water but could have easily had a few more wins (in fairness every game was tight so they could have had a few more L's). Yesterday was almost an off game given we didn't waste any of the premier arms...but they really could use a hot week or so with the bats and arms...would do wonders right now to find ways to get some guys rest(s) etc.

Cleveland is the main concern because of their easy schedule and good pitching. I think they have a good shot to take the division lead, unless the Sox do more than tread water and start stringing wins together. Going to be tough to do that with their pitching though. Hopefully they can pickup a fresh-ish arm from the waiver wire and Thorpe can come up and give a couple good starts to allow them to string some wins together.

I think they've hit a wall. They need a reset. Colson needs a reset and Murakami as well. I feel they are pressing. The starting pitching trying to be too fine is suffering. All in all they've had a good season. I don't think anybody had this on their bingo card. I just hope Uncle Scrooge doesn't f*** this rebuild like he did the last by not wanting to invest. And I don't mean dumpster diving. I think the fans have shown if the team is good they come out, so that should not be an excuse

I think they win the division by 4 games with an 86-76 record. And will get the #2 seed. This team seems to get amped up to play teams within their division. Kind of think each series against our divisional rivals is where we end them.

It does seem they are playing a lot more games recently like most of us thought they would play this season. Then they sprinkle in some magical finishes. I hope they make it, but wouldn't be surprised if the pitching doesn't allow it to happen.
