February 17, 201016 yr I mean, if the Sox really want him, why wouldn't they just pony up the extra 3-4 million bucks. I mean that is nothing in the grand scheme of things if they really want him. We have to be more than 1-2 million away from Detroits offer.

Damon's actually the rare player that will generate merchandise sales. Also, it's a pretty sound risk. If the team does well, he'll likely earn whatever money you give him. I actually like Pierre as the #9 hitter and left fielder.

February 17, 201016 yr Another thing I think that is driving this is the lack of left handed starters in the division. Pierre Damon Pierre gets a bigger lead as the catcher can not see to first and then the SS covers the bag and opens the left side for Damon to shoot the ball through the SS gap

I was more confident earlier in the offseason when I reported they were talking to Boras on here and in PM's to some folks. I think that Damon could have taken Pierre's place on the roster at that point. There is probably at least a 50% chance we get him which is a tick up from what I thought a few days ago however.
