February 17, 201412 yr QUOTE (flavum @ Feb 17, 2014 -> 05:27 PM) Hard to believe the Sox have a home game in 6 weeks. This winter just won't end. I used to complain about how winter was just 35 degrees and overcast. What I would kill for that.
February 17, 201412 yr If we get a couple of warm days this week, I will take it. I know it's gonna be cold again and more snow, but it will be nice for some of this snow that is piled up to melt.
February 17, 201412 yr QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Feb 17, 2014 -> 12:12 PM) it will be nice for some of this snow that is piled up to melt. it will probably melt too fast and cause a big flood. just to screw us over again.
February 17, 201412 yr Coming back from Florida :/ I just want all this snow to melt at least. Please. Can't even imagine another 8 inches from last week.

February 17, 201412 yr Town in Michigan discovers a 5 mile long stream of manure leaked out of a frozen/burst pipe and is now buried under a foot of snow.

February 18, 201412 yr For those who are curious, here are the all time South Bend snow records, to show how much snowier it is in the lake effect belts. Chicago's records are about half of this. WSBT-TV So we've been talking about the #WinterMelt, here's putting the snowfall in perspective. Yesterday's 4.2" pushed our season's total snowfall at WSBT to 96.2". That make this unofficially the 9th snowiest winter since records began in 1893. With several more weeks of winter to come, we could move even farther up this list: 1978-78: 172.0" 1981-82: 135.2: 1976-77: 129.2" 1898-99: 123.0" 1966-67: 110.6" 2010-11: 105.6" 1962-63: 102.5" 1978-79: 101.3" 2013-14: 96.2" + ?? 1959-60: 95.1"
February 18, 201412 yr Per Tom Skilling: "The storm’s new half-foot accumulations pushed area snow tallies to new benchmarks. At Midway Airport, where snow’s been measured since 1928, Monday’s new 5.4” accumulation sends the 2013-14 total to 72.4”—that site’s 4th-snowiest on the books. The 4.7” Monday snowfall at O’Hare brings the city’s official seasonal tally to a rank of 5th-highest in 129 years of observations at 67.6”."
