  1. Past hour

  2. I complain about both
  3. Ah s%*#. Ditka just passed away. Now the Sox need to go into Cleveland and win it for Da Coach.
  4. Whatever you say
  5. They must be loving that both teams are fighting to the death with depleted pitching staffs.
  6. To me, this series is our World Series. Making it to the ALCS would be a MASSIVE win for this team. They do not match up against the Rays pitching at all, and honestly I don't see the Sox nor the Guardians fairing well against them. It comes down to holding the Guardians to a few runs max. Burke looked awesome his last time out, and I am hoping for a repeat performance. Without scoring a few runs, the late innings will be a tightrope walk for the Sox. The bullpen is spent. They're going to have to rely on a couple guys at the end.
  7. Mike Ditka 86 years old. Huge Chicago sports legend
  8. The hits just keep coming for Chicago sports. Great player, good coach. All the best to his family at this difficult time.
  9. Well, they kinda lie. The Cleveland players, their batting talents, aren’t anywhere as good as this very small example indicates. These average players are feasting on the overused and tired arms of the Sox pitching staff. If Cleveland wins this series, does anyone think these same players will have that success against TB pitching? Did those certain players burn Sox pitching in July or early August before all the Sox pitchers’ arms started falling off from over use? Those good stats, again a small sample (mostly the two games in Chicago), is at statement on the White Sox pitching collapse, not brilliant trade deadline pickups. Now it is still a valid statement that, at the deadline, Getz got nothing to help the Sox. But it’s simplistic to overrate the Cleveland pickups on a small sample size against bad pitching.
  10. Not full throated but a failure in every way. And gave up more assets than a team like CLE did, who got much more. The philosophy to go after players under control past 2026, with the lockout looming, was pretty ridiculous. Getz had a really good year obviously, but the deadline was a disaster. Tough to trust him moving forward imo.
  11. From the Athletic today: Trending down: Chicago Optimism, meanwhile, feels in short supply for the Chicago Blackhawks after a 1-4-0 start that included a tough loss to the New York Islanders last night. A 38 percent expected goals share isn't going to get them out of the basement this year. (TBH, my only hesitation in putting Chicago here: Are the Blackhawks really trending down given they've been wallowing for a while?)
  12. Colson hasn't been the problem in the playoffs. He's hitting .263 with a .865 OPS and has had a few important hits in the ALDS. There's been some luck in that, but with how he ended the season, anything productive at all is a win for him.
  13. Probably because most of Mune’s value comes with his bat. Thats all they ask for from him, because first base in the field has nominal value relative to SS. And a lot of Colson’s value is derived because he plays a premium position very well. But his bat problem drags his overall value down below a guy like Mune who derives very little value in the field relative to Colson. Mune’s bat does all the work.
  14. I mean, hold them to 2 or 3 runs or less. It was nice putting up openers that are shutting the offense down. Not very sustainable.
  15. I say this over and over. Why does everyone complain about Colton’s K’s and not Mune’s? How many time this series has Cleveland walked Vargas because they have absolutely no fear of Mune’s bat? 7 or 8 times?
  16. I have to wonder if the pitch sequencing aligned with the fielder positioning at all. Braden was playing in RCF for an inside fastball and Colson was playing up the middle for an outside curveball. Unless both guys just completely missed ln location, the positioning doesn't make a lot of sense.
  17. I’m sorry they gave up Smith. They caved into pressure from the fanbase to force something to happen at the deadline. It was a token halfhearted effort, and unfortunately an example of why if you worry about what the fans in the stands want, you’re soon to be sitting next to them. Wasted a prospect for nothing.
  18. RIP to the original Iron Mike!
  19. Man this is straight garbage
  20. I don't think taylor makes it into the starting rotation next year. I definitely think they go out and acquire at least one starting pitcher. The rebuild is over. Their competitive window is now open.
  21. Yes and no... Nothing compared to the heat on the other side of town...along with NYY, NYM, Phillies, Red Sox, Mariners, Blue Jays, Orioles, etc. Sox fans, sure. But JR has never really cared about what the fans want...
  22. D or an F. But like I said, they didn’t try real hard. Probably should have done nothing actually. Doing nothing would have been a B.
  23. Ain't that the truth. I would have left Fedde in to face Ramirez. It's not like he put in a lefty to face him and other than the hit from Kwan the batter before, he was cruising. They also needed some length.
  24. Who (else) do we have they would actually want besides Bonemer/Carlson/Cholowsky? Obviously they have a SS hole. What's his contract? Guess that JR would say no largely based on Acuna's injury history, Braden's presence and the small fact ATL won their WS without him. Otoh you have a heart-warming family reunion lol.
  25. Heat on Getz. The pressure will be on in 2027 and beyond because that is their earliest planned timeframe for the team to improve to the vision they had for it
