  2. I'm pretty disinterested in Detmers for what his cost is likely to be. One season of 100+ IP with < 4 ERA in his career, so the upside is limited. And for folks who are worried about Martin's recent fatigue signaling regression, well... Career 4.69 ERA, 4.39 on the season, 4.55 in his last 10 starts, but because he's 27 with two arb years left (and had 3 great starts in June) I've seen packages like Schultz/Hagen + Carlson + Bergolla thrown out there for him. That's an enthusiastic no from me.
  3. Ahh Thank you for explaining that to me. I must be part of the hippie culture still listening to folk songs about peace, love and understanding.
  4. I’d say the likelihood of bringing Cease back with him having about 190 million left is less than 1% 😆 But if they were to take on a deal it would be under this type of scenario, he checks all the boxes: Former Sox player Large amount of deferred money that is likely to not be an available contract structure soon Ace level talent and track record Still… you’re absolutely right. Until Jerry turns the team over, I too will believe them signing a pitcher for more than 4 years at a 9 figure rate when I see it. And I’m not holding my breath. I just miss dudes sweet slider slide. 😆
  5. It’s simply a matter of prospect capital IMO. In our revised top 10 we have one fringe level starting pitcher but we also have 6 shortstops / infielders. Pretty obvious that we use our position of strength and match up with another organization that is similarly deep with pitching options. May it be Carlson or someone else, the only truly untouchable guys in our lower ranks are likely Roch and Thome. I could see them dealing anyone else, including Bonemer, if the right offer come along. It’s rare an arm would present itself that requires him… whereas I think it’s more likely that we match up with a team who is offering a pitcher that has value to match Billy better.
  6. Until it actually happens, I don't believe in any way the Sox are going to trade for a $200 million contract or sign someone to one. I mean its fun to kick around, but Dylan Cease was traded because they had no intentions to pay him. Same reason Crochet was traded. They aren't going to turn around and take on that contract. Same reason why I think its foolish to let Mune reach free agency, they will lose him if that happens.
  7. It's really nice. I went like 25 years ago tho, not sure how it's aged but sounds like it's held up. One thing is it doesn't feel like a dome, not quite as advanced as the roof at T-Mobile, but similar. We're on Apple TV tmr, dad gumit.
  8. Man… if we could get Cease and his love affair with his slider back in town, that would be a flipping dream come true for this club. Too bad it’s never gonna happen. Just for shits and giggles, say Toronto comes to you with an offer of “Bonemer, Hagen Smith, and Fauske for Cease” — Do you bite? I sure as s%*# would, especially after we just had the draft we had. For someone like Detmers, I wouldn’t want to exceed a package of something like Carlson plus Oppor… and that is only because we just drafted Thome and Prosek.
  9. “Like Detmers” doesn’t necessarily mean they are trying for Detmers
  10. Vargas is 10th in the AL in position players' WAR. He's got some work to do if he wants in on the MVP convo, end of year.
  11. Back to back west coast trips again. At least its not 3 in a row like this year. Though, I guess I didn't mind since it was earlier in the year.
  12. something something if they actually play yada yada.... Outside of Detroit to open it looks pretty good temp wise. KC final 3 days of March shouldn't be bad, then we have back to back west coast road trips. The ASG is also at Wrigley next year. Nice that the 5 or 6 guys we send won't have to travel. From a selfish standpoint super stoked that the Baltimore, D.C., and Atlanta series are all on the weekend. Should be able to get to a good chunk of games.
  13. Count me in. MV got better last year, but I didn't think he had this much talent going forward. He's also a great team mate. The fans love him too. He is giving 110% everyday.
  14. Maybe. That third baseman from Tampa Bay might be the new Mike Schmidt. Vargas has been really great as well.
  15. Today
  16. Excited for this to get thrown out the window when the season starts on July 4th weekend.
  17. thanks, grabbed the table from reddit.
  18. Opening day keeps getting earlier and earlier - March 25th next year. All those March games for the Sox are in cold weather cities. And yes, we all know and have heard it umpteen times.....IF THERE IS A SEASON.
  19. Seen several posts like this today, feel like it’s odd that Fegan would mention Detmers specifically. Usually the Sox try to keep quiet about these things.
  20. We better get at least one regular plus a star in roch from this draft. It's being praised everywhere, but it's a fickle sport.
  21. Impressive all around. Cardozo and Romero are both 17. Theyve both shown solid power (5 and 7 HRs respectively). Cardozo is actually batting .337 now. Another guy who I thought would make it is Carlos Vielma. He's putting up impressive stats as a 16 year old. I think he's injured though. Encouraging signs in DSL. I can't remember the last time theyve had this many young guys playing this well in DSL. It's usually a bunch of trash. See the link below if you want to look into their stats. https://www.baseball-reference.com/register/team.cgi?id=7f33291f
  22. I have not been to the Rogers Centre but it looks fantastic on TV and Toronto fans rave about it. I would love to see a retractable roof stadium for the White Sox after so many years of bad weather conditions/cancellations It would be great to actually be able to buy tickets and plan ahead without being concerned about a game being postponed or having to sit in rainy, cold or steaming hot conditions. So glad the upcoming games are in Toronto instead of in the oppressive heat/possible rain in Chicago. Who wants to go outdoors in this weather and no, I would not go to the Sox game if they were playing in these conditions at home.
