Fully disagree on Wolkow. Teams have shifted towards prioritizing youth and ceiling in these types of deals. You say he’s been spinning in circles for a long time, yet he is a 20 year old in High A who has made some strides this year in terms of the K rate. He’s certainly a high variance player who likely amounts to nothing, but the ceiling if it were to click is insane. To think he has zero trade value is just simply wrong IMO.

I've always been a pretty big Peralta guy. I'd take him for sure. That Mets situation is pretty brutal, and he's certainly had some bad luck with both balls in play and sequencing. The stuff still seems to be there for the most part. At the price above, I think I'd give it a whirl.

I'm not buying this rumor, at all. Unless our pitching coordinators, who already have a pretty mixed record of success, have identified an easy-to-fix flaw with Peralta and feel they can make him absolutely dominant and do so quickly, I don't think this is the kind of deal Getz is looking to make. The checkbook is open, why the hell would he choose to spend farm assets instead?

It's fascinating how you are so optimistic about complete trash but then pessimistic at the one time the team struck gold. Bonemer has already dropped his k-rate in AA to league average, and he's a very very good athlete. A 55-60 grade runner. Good arm. He's about 10 months older than Acuna was in AA, but his numbers are right along where Acuna's were. He's actually walking a little more, and striking out at about the same rate.

Pretty sure one of those injuries was due to a fluke comebacker which obviously means it wasn’t anything mechanical. And I’m not aware of him leaving any starts. Last I heard he went 6 vs KC giving up only 1 ER.

Well entering play today FG has us at 48% to make playoffs. It's basically tied with the highest mark of the year. We were slightly higher on June 29th. I'd say that's more than enough to make some additions. Not like sell the farm type additions but a bullpen arm or two and a back end starter would help get those odds closer to 60%.

Girardi made a great point on the broadcast Wednesday: there isn't a single SP on the WS roster with post season experience. I'm not like a huge experience matters guy but it doesn't hurt and adding a SP with post season and pennant chase experience might not be an awful idea.
