  1. Past hour

  2. BR absolutely murdering Marist right now. Holcomb is the real deal.
  3. They’re going to pull out all the stops on Castillo pitching every 5th day. You can count on that.
  4. "Lots of people want to be owners and lots of people don't realize how hard it is to be an owner. I keep telling people, it's not as easy as I thought," he said. "The owners care more about winning than making money. They're not against making money. Of course, they don't want to lose money. The obsession with winning and beating your competitors is really what drives these people who own these teams. There's nothing as satisfying as winning a championship."
  5. From Rich Dubroff of Baltimore Baseball: Rubenstein purchased a majority stake in the Orioles from the Angelos family in 2024, at a valuation of $1.725 billion. It feels obvious to say that MLB owners are making a ton of money, with the income apparently surpassing even what Rubenstein makes from The Carlyle Group private equity firm he co-founded (which drove his estimated net worth above $4 billion). Billionaires rarely buy something if they aren't going to make money from it. However, that's not the image the owners will be projecting once the likely lockout begins.
  6. "You can't win this game by yourself," second baseman Brice Turang said. "You got to trust in your teammates to get it done. And if that's moving a guy over, then you move the guy over. And sometimes in trying to move them over, you drive a ball in the gap, and you end up scoring them. So you end up doing yourself a favor. So I think, when you play that way, good things happen."
  7. Today

  8. Online I would imagine is generally on the side of labor yes. In years past. I don’t know if the flow of online political leaning is gaining any more of the *ahem* more supply side people nowadays
  9. Yesterday

  10. Because baseball is really only interesting to the masses after Labor Day.
  11. The board was solidly on the player's side during the last one.
  12. A few things haven't changed. There are still 27 outs and the team with the most runs win. While I agree with you more than most people here, (at just 10% of the time), I'm going to disagree with you here. Even back then they were using the best statistics available. They were using the best science available. Most of those guys even quit smoking in the dugouts. Baseball has been statistics driven forever. The entire fantasy sports industry started with baseball. This is an evolutionary change not revolutionary. Having guys pitching eight or nine innings like it's some silly machismo dick measuring competition is just kind of a silly waste of resources. Baseball will be really exciting when we expand rosters and platoon like football.
  13. I'm hoping they bring someone in that isn't forcing a schtick or trying to create a trademark phrase.
  14. I won’t be upset by any of the possible winners. That’s about as good as I could’ve hoped for after the Sox lost.
  15. Zavala is playing winter ball in Venezuela after a strong close to his AA season (.316/.522/.557 in August and September)
  16. I think Getz mentioned something along these lines with his season ending press conference.
  17. Thanks, just a grwat name. Britt Burns i think started the first sox game i went to in 1982 or so, so I dig yours too.
  18. His velocity decreased quite a bit and he dropped his arm angle. I don't know if the injury was causing that or if they were tinkering and he got injured along the way.
  19. Yeah if he was hurt, it at least explains why he was throwing up meatballs and gives me hope that if he can get healthy, he can improve. Still don't really like the move though.
  20. Has this been reported anywhere or are people speculating?
  21. my bad, yeah that was what I saw, the team Ks, I'm pissed that Cleveland got him literally right after we picked colson
  22. This is the (5 yr) $75 million dollar question.
  23. 5 IP, 9 K. Maybe you were looking at the Guardians team total of 13 K? But still, you’re right that the dude is an absolute monster and a problem. He’s always had massive talent but struggled with inconsistency. Sure seems like he’s put it all together.
  24. We've already lived through the more contact approach in 2021 and 2022. It didn't work for us. I don't think there's anything inherently wrong with the offensive approach we have as a team, people are just overreacting to a historically bad 3 game sample. There's also not much coaching and approach can do when you have 2 guys who just swing and miss a lot in Colson and Mune. That's more or less a talent issue. Coaching can help them mitigate that here or there, but they can't make contact for them.
  25. I'm hyped for Bonemer but he strikes out a ton, I believe his K rate spiked in AA too, I believe it was over 25%.
