  2. No one must be offering him a long-term contract just like Murakami if a 3-year deal makes them a frontrunner.
  3. I think it’s a no brainer if the Sox could get Imai on a 3-4 year deal. If Imai performs like an ace atop this rotation this would be a fun team to watch.
  4. https://news.yahoo.co.jp/articles/705d0a9ea1b1270c84c4dfe069dbc9510b184ebf The White Sox, seeking to rebuild their team, have suddenly emerged as the frontrunners. Following the acquisition of infielder Munetaka Murakami (25), a major comeback from a longshot becomes a reality....The White Sox are strengthening their starting lineup, and they view Imai as an "ace pitcher." There are also reports that they are approaching him with a contract of around three years, rather than a long-term one of seven years. Credit ChiSoxFanMike but yeah thats what the article says.
  5. The headline of the Yahoo Japan article translated to English… ”The Imai & Murakami tag team is a possibility! The White Sox, aiming to rebuild their team and acquire Tatsuya Imai, have suddenly emerged as a strong contender.”
  6. And to tack on to that, after all of the massive Japanese players and the massive revenue streams that it has opened for teams, that also had to be explained to Jerry in 2025. Again the top anchor around the ankle of any Sox GM is Jerry and until that changes, this is who the Sox are.

  8. Totally agree. And bragging about it was so embarrassing
  9. Out of LF's with 400 PAs, he ranked 32nd of 34 with his 0.2 fWAR. Even if you ignore his league worst defensive rating (literally 34th of 34), he ranks 23rd of 34 in LF. Remember that 0.2 is his highest ratings of the three years he has been here, so yes this is who he is. https://www.fangraphs.com/leaders/major-league?stats=bat&lg=all&type=8&season=2025&month=0&season1=2025&ind=0&pos=lf&pageitems=50&qual=400
  10. Imagine having to beg for an exception to sign a guy for 34 million total in the modern game.
  11. I figured that. No way they were in on him until his market wasn’t there. Maybe the same can happen with Imai. Obviously not as cheap and short but still. Give him a deal similarly structured to Imanaga’s deal.
  12. Mike Tyson recently said that he “followed the script” in his match with Paul so I just assumed they were all completely fake.
  13. NBB said the Mune signing was a special exception.
  14. “You fired up, man?” (Rich Eisen Show throwing bouquets at the Bears Despite their loss.)
  15. Teel DHs against RHP. They split the catching duty otherwise. Sprinkle Quero in at DH a time or two a week instead of Beni, and/or experiment with Quero at 1B or Teel in LF occasionally. I understand the concern, but Sox aren't deep enough for this to be a real concern. Injuries will quickly mean none of these guys will have issues getting plenty of at bats when healthy. Not saying I wouldn't move Beni - I would - but I'm def not just cutting bait, eating $ and DFAing like some want. Makes zero sense.
  16. The problem is, if you commit to him being full-time DH, you’re relegating Quero to the bench. And I’d rather rotate the catchers there to get them the most at bats in a lost season.
  17. Posted elsewhere before I saw this thread where it's much more relevant: I don't really see the need to just dump Benintendi. Sox could certainly do worse than a league average bat at DH, as we've proven plenty over the past decade. When healthy, Benintendi is fine, and all things considered, his salary is high for the Sox, but not among his peers. Could the Sox do better? Yah, of course. Will they do better if they dump him for a shitty overpaid pitcher? Almost certainly not.

  19. The crazy thing is that the payroll still wouldn’t be that high even if they did sign Imai.
  20. I can't see Jerry allowing any more big ticket signings with Robert still on the payroll. Okamoto doesn't really fit here anyways unless the Sox are seriously considering Murakami at 3B. I'd love if Ishbia stepped in and aggressively went after Imai. He is arguable the best of the 4 coming over from Japan this offseason and would give the Sox a legitimate ace starter.
  21. the reason they can't find a bad contract swap is because Benintendi's Achilles is rumored to be hanging on by a thread
