Just tired of reading this. Vaccines aren't magic. There is no guarantee we will have one, let alone one that will actually work against this disease. We have to stop living in bubble. If medicine and government see that it's reasonable to have gatherings at 20% right now, then go for it. Take the proper measures (face mask, distancing, washing hands) and move forward. If you're still concerned, then stay home and come out in 2025.

I think he is correct too, ftr, but if you got 7 starters deep then them going 3-4 innings still isn't a problem and is still no reason to carry that many pitchers. Those pitchers on the back end - whenever they pitch - are a liability. If you can't beat out Carson Fulmer for a job, you don't belong. Extra position players if used correctly are + on the run column. I just don't understand teams carrying a ton of pitchers when relievers can't be specialist with the 3 batter rule, and extra innings being short with a man starting on 2nd. I agree many teams will, I just think it's the wrong way. I get there are more going into this decision than MLB playing time and etc - especially with the limited practice by everyone everywhere.

Just so you know I was maybe the 1st one on Soxtalk to start inquiring about him back when he was languishing in A ball and i noticed he never had a bad season in the minors and started a thread in Future Sox for anyone who could tell me more about him . After he moved up and started hitting even better through AA and AAA i was going about questioning how come he couldn't be included in our Top 30 even though i knew the obvious answers about his age and defense. But hitting alone can some times get you to where you want to be.

Oh, he would totally come in at top 3 IF we did not have Abreu/Encarnacion. He sadly just won't get reps for us. He will become an all-star, top 5 DH with someone else (I vote Orioles). Likely traded this year :(.

I’m on vacation at a water park in Pigeon Forge, TN. My family is only using the outdoor swim areas and has masks on when entering / exiting the hotel. No one outside of the workers are wearing masks (not sure I’d call it “wearing” for half the employees) and we’re the ones getting the dirty looks. Rural America either doesn’t believe this disease is legit or simply doesn’t give a fuck about anyone but themselves. I think those of you living in Chicago don’t realize how fucking bad it is in other parts of the county. Yes the numbers are bad in Texas & Florida, but I’m shocked they aren’t substantially worse. The idea of social distancing simply doesn’t exist in the south and I don’t think anything is going to change that.

I still like it because it prevents teams from keeping prospects down too long and use the minors as a reserve for mlb ready players. I would slightly adjust the times though, make it 6 years for HS and international kids and 4 years for college players because 5 years can be too little for international guys (who are only 21-22 after 5 years) while for college players 5 years is plenty (they are like 25-27 after 5 years).

Just saying there's definitely a way to do it as long as people cooperate. if you don't want to cooperate, then stay at home. It's open air stadium like outdoor dining. Rows are what? 16 seats? 20 seats? If you come with a family - then can sit in 4 seats at the end caps. Skip a row (maybe 2) in between each one. not sure how many people that equals across a whole stadium. The seating, the entry, leaving the stadium, etc. those are very solvable. Entry is spaced out, and people filtering in over time. Simple. Seating is an computer algorithm for social distancing. simple. enforcement via ushers - simple (kind of). leaving the stadium? that's tougher. But basically just need to implement rules via a loudspeaker - not that tough. Rows 1-20 may leave. Then wait 5 minutes, Rows 20-40. I dunno, thats top of mind, but you basically just break it up a bit. Hardest part by far to me is the concessions. Sox aren't going to have all windows open because it doesn't make financial sense ... so you have to come up with a plan to either have delivery to your seat, some app for point of pickup, etc. Concourses should be masked as well as bathrooms. But there's a way to structure concessions if you wear a mask and come up with some alternate method other than standing in line. Plus - I've been to some April games in the past with 10k-12k fans ... the lines for concessions is usually 2-3 people.

Its is a nice option to have for a player that might be blocked from a roster spot in a deeper organization. I like it.

The White Sox have room to add 16 more names. Zack Burdi, Matt Foster, Bernardo Flores, Seby Zavala, Micker Adolfo and Blake Rutherford are all on the 40 man and not on the initial 44. Some others who seem like options for the next 16: Luis Gonzalez, Gavin Sheets, Jake Burger, Jonathan Stiever, Garrett Crochet, Kodi Medeiros, Jacob Lindgren. That leaves these guys unaccounted for right now: Jaycob Brugman, Daniel Palka, Alex McRae, Adalberto Mejia, Bryan Mitchell, Brady Lail. Jared Kelley, Matthew Thompson and Andrew Dalquist could be options as well

Once you place a player on that 60, you have to waiver or release them to remove them. This allows teams like the Red Sox to have more "major league ready" guys on the taxi squad than just their 40 man roster, instead of taking up those spaces with guys who have zero chance at being here this year.

There's definitely a safe way to do this - it would also need 100% cooperation from those attending. You open all gates - 6,000 fans. Masks required in line to get in, temperature check, etc. Masks required on concourse, bathrooms, any half open air area. No masks in seats ... but also distanced - and must sit in assigned seats. I think there's a way in this day and age (even not in a pandemic) for the Sox to pair with a technology company to produce "food to go"/pick-up. Order on your app, pay on your app, and pick up from a designated area. This should be done already. Someone needs to "Aldi" the concessions. We all stand in line to order the same 8 items and it's amazingly slow. But that's a different conversation for a different day. Anyways, I truly think there's a way to do it. And likewise i think the Sox could host tailgate parties for up to say ... 1,000 as well. Big screen, parking lot, again, all social distanced.. you park your car -- 2-3 spots in between, like a drive in theater. There's ways to drive revenue - and there would be demand. Consult with all the doctors (as i'm sure they already are) and execute a plan. Enforcement of plan is just as important. Be like the Wrigley Field ushers checking tickets -- but with enforcing mask wearing.

Or you begin building up a herd immunity to the virus. we’re not getting a vaccine any time soon. It took 10 years to get one for h1n1. We’re better off having healthy people go back to the way things were while at risk populations quarantine. Develop enough immunity and we can slow the spread to vulnerable populations.

Seems excessive considering how unlikely it is for one person to come into contact with the other 8000 and the low death rate and high asymptomatic rates
