  1. If DiPoto puts a fair offer on the table like Miller/Woo, Clase and Montes (49m SV), then I would expect Getz to take it and part with Cease (42m SV). If opposing GMs are still dicking around with garbage offers like what Elias reportedly offered (around 36m roughly), then Getz will hold him.
  2. No....not necessarily. Why would that be the case? Nightengale said I think even before the BAL-MIL trade that SEA was the team most likely to deal. And NYY is still out there as a possibility particularly if their pitching looks shaky in ST. There are still several other clubs in need as well and are likely to be in need after Montgomery and Snell sign. Its certainly possible it could go to the deadline but I doubt it with that much demand out there. I wouldn't be shocked if it went into ST tho because Boras is holding out for his FAs
  3. Crochet for Vivas. BTV has their SVs as very similar. Bring me Jorbit Vivas now! He checks alot of boxes for us.....LH 2B with above avg hit tool, good BB% and can stick at the position. Good platoon option for 2B.
  4. BTV has his SV at around 10m only...may make sense to wait and see if he has a good first half in 2024.
  5. Speaking of NYY.... We need to trade with NYY (regardless of Cease) and acquire Vivas to be strongside of the 2B platoon. He had a very strong year last year in AA as a 22 year old and got his feet wet in AAA. Walked more than he struck out. It shouldn't cost a ton and would be valuable to us. LH...projected 55 hit and gets OBP plus projected 50 glove at 2B. If Getz is trying to find bargains that fill needs cheaply, this is one. Maybe we can send them a reliever or two.
  6. The high BABIP is concerning, but if you look at his minor league stats from 2019-2023 on fangraphs he has put up a high and seemingly unsustainable BABIP every single year. I agree that theoretically it should normalize but 4 years in a row suggests that maybe (hopefully) he's one of those guys who has an uncanny ability to find holes. /trying to be find a way to be positive
  7. Yeah what's fair is fair....to get 2 Top 100s for 3 months of Giolito, Lynn and Kelly was a masterstroke by Hahn. That was huge. If Nastrini can stick in the rotation as like a 3 that would be massive.
  8. Hopefully Bannister can fix him and then we can move him at the deadline for a good return. They have alot of SP with issues and if he can fix even a few of them, we will reap a huge prospect benefit in trades. Bannister is prolly the most important person in this rebuild/retool.
  9. Maybe they stumbled across some secret sabermetric research that shows character strongly correlates with runs scored. That's all I got.
  10. Since the Royals spent money and we seem to love all things Royals maybe.... ....never mind.
  11. He has a big arm....needs to put in the work to be a good actual RF. I still believe in him (I can't just let go of LH 50 hit/60 power/plus arm) and hopefully being in AAA for awhile and seeing lesser talents playing ahead of him in Chicago will merit a course correction.
  12. I thought I also saw somewhere that Elias was OK with one of those 3 guys but not 2. IMO, if he was OK with giving us Kjerstad, Ortiz and Hall I would definitely do that but I highly doubt he would offer us that.
  13. I think Harold said it was basically the same as Burnes except maybe they added one more piece. I'm assuming that extra piece wasn't a Top 5 guy (perhaps Norby ?). Yeah that's an easy NO from Getz. If Getz wanted Westburg plus one of Cowser/Kjerstad and Elias wasn't even offering one of those guys, then we were never even remotely close to a deal. Props to Elias for the trade he pulled off tho, he did good work for his team.
  14. The fangraphs writeup on him was promising as to the work he put in during the fall.
  15. At the plate at least, I expect a solid year from Beni now that his wrist is fully healed. Like 280/360 and 15 HRs. IMO if we throw in some money it could get us something at the deadline
  16. Other rankings of note: Basallo 20 Dominguez 21 Anthony 22 Mayo 27 Emerson 37 Teel 54 "Nicky" Ortiz 58 Lowder 60 Kjerstad 62 Pereira 63 Bradfield 64 Hence 73 Rushing 86 Stone 95 Gilbert 100 Cowser NR S. Jones NR Hampton NR Norby NR
  17. Rankings and small summary/blurb Montgomery 42 -As to SS, consensus in industry turned for the better and its now 50/50 that he can stick at SS. Felt injury limited him last year and rust/exhaustion also hurt him in AFL. Given a chance to "reset" and become the prior high contact and all fields hitter we saw previously, should continue March to Chicago and be everyday SS or 3B, with 4-5 WAR upside due to hit tool/position. Quero 67- Average arm, but 50-55 defense, OBP north of .350 and a little pop, which is "a starter on majority of teams". Everyday catcher. Ramos 69-Solid average defender at 3B with 55 arm and could move to 2B if needed. Could hit for avg, 10% walk and 20-25 HR, with possibility of 30 HRs and some All Star teams. Nastrini 76-Odds remaining starter over 50% Schultz 79- No. 1 starter upside or top end reliever potential depending on health and coordination For more see https://theathletic.com/5245693/2024/02/05/top-100-mlb-prospects-2024-keith-law/
  18. Does Getz understand that slap hitting Limp Dick bats are not what corner OFers are supposed to be? Asking for a friend. At least he's left handed and did damage against RHP in a limited sample size last year, although he's FAR from a savage. Or maybe the plan is for him to hold down the strongside of the platoon in RF this year and then move him to CF after Robert is traded since he's a glove first player? Does anyone know the scouting report on him as a CF? I still want Lazaro Montes in a SEA trade to serve the savage role, because somewhere at some point, someone in the lineup (esp post Robert) has to strike fear into the pitcher.
  19. When I saw Mariners in the thread title, I immediately thought of Lazaro Montes the LHS...damn. Maybe we will still get him in the Cease trade. And yes I know his profile isn't something Getz likes and No...I don't care.
  20. There's no way they can commit to spending when they spent 180m plus two years in a row (alot for JR and his partners based on history), got little attendance and even less playoff TV money in response, and also allegedly had some losses during COVID. JR was likely taking heat from the partners about the need for some profits so they were always going to financially reset if/when it was clear the rebuild failed. They got almost no ROI for what they spent from 2020-2023. They are going to get some ROI now because of 60m cut in payroll.
