The Drunken Munchkin gets another slap on the wrist. Wonder if this had anything to do with that incident that didn't happen in Columbus??? Nice hire, Wirtz!! :fyou

Don't you think JR would do the same thing if/when the demand is there? Owners are looking for EVERY way to bleed the bottom penny out of their consumers - thus the minor-league-looking advertisements plastered all over EVERYTHING and the "MegaShop starting lineup" and the "ValueStore first pitch" and the "official jock rash creme of the Local Sports Team" and so on and so on... Besides, I always figured that Soderholm was in cahoots with JR on his scalping business - oops, sorry - "ticket brokerage"

I hope the Supersuckers and Butch Walker don't postpone their shows....

Overrated movie, Sarandon looks like a frog.

agreed....stupid show, and who cares about her...just another face....easily replaceable....

I don't know exactly what's going wrong for him and the Braves, but I love it! They've had it too good for too long! I've heard that his velocity is down, even for him, but all the highlights I see just show nice fat "hit me" pitches right over the heart of the plate. He's making mistakes and people are crushing them. ....excellent.....

I think Freddy Garcia, Vincente Padilla or even Kip Wells are "for real". Prior effortlessly dominating in his first year is a bit better than that. Sorry if I understated it too much for you... Okay, then, Prior is a bit better than "for real" I guess it's all in how you take it - when I say that someone is "for real", what I mean is that I don't think he's a flash in the pan or "good on a bad team" - what I mean is that the guy is a soild major-leaguer who will be good ( or great ) for a long time. Prior is already the best pitcher on the Cubs ( which alone would qualify him for the "good on a bad team" label ), and one of the better ones in the league, and the scary part is that he hasn't even gotten "respect" calls yet, since he's still basically a rookie. He will only get better with time and increased knowledge and comfort at the major-league level. he has great poise, and he doesn't seem to throw any pitches that would put undue strain on his arm. He has a well-documented base of lower-body strength and he doesn't seem to fade in the late innings ( note the 9th inning pitch velocity ). He doesn't get rattled when he gets knocked around, and he doesn't hurt himself with walks or wildness. He's always around the plate but seldom right over center of it. How's that? Enough praise? Too much praise? I didn't realize that "for real" was an insult or a slight....sorry...oh, and just to confirm your analogy, I think he's better than Freddy Garcia, Vincente Padilla and Kip Wells, two of whom I would qualify under your definition of "for real" - Kip Wells so far has had one okay year after 3 not-so-okay years...

Actaully, I see a little Dennis Hopper in Blaque Jacques Chirac...

And, unless things change in a hurry, Frank Thomas could become the THIRD 500-HR guy to not play in the WS. This city has been VERY sad, baseball-wise, for a VERY long time on both sides of town. As bad as the Brewers, Tigers, Padres, Marlins, Royals, etc. have been lately, most of their fans can still remember their last WS appearances...

Yeah, he's for real. Wonder if the Sox have another Matt Karchner they could offer for Prior? Ginter, maybe? Glover? Porzio??

Burnt out city....looting citizens celebrating a victory.... sounds like Detroit!! ( but not during baseball season!! )

Stupid fans, maybe? Don't blame Beane for the public's inability to recognize a top-notch baseball team. They've done everything they can to build and keep their talent, but not enough people show up to support them. I wonder, though, if Beane would be less creative if he got a big payroll to work with, and would he wind up making the same mistakes as other GMs by just taking the "biggest name" available?

Interesting that they'd use the image of the statue that we got from France...

Let me be the first to suggest... BRIAN DAUBACH in left field!!!! I want to see that bat in the everyday lineup, and he CAN'T be worse defensively than Lee....he CAN'T! Get good ol' # 23 in there, Manuel!!

I completely, wholeheartedly agree with this sentence. Billy Joel and ESPECIALLY Elton John are the natural enemies of They are the Anti- If they were a number, they'd be ( - )

They probably consulted with RedPinStripes before cancelling it! "No way, man, it's COLD - I'd just go home!!"

Send him to Outer Mongolia to scout the diamond-in-the-rough baseball prospects out there! He can be The Sleuth once again!! Or maybe if he really needs a job....I KNOW he can fit in the Ribbie suit!! Or was the fat one Roobarb??? Probably Roobarb, since it's been 40 years since Krause could see his Ribbies!!

Maybe now the Bulls won't try to find the most obscure small-college unknown treasure from Lower Middle Nowhere State Junior College every year!!! YAAAAAAAAAAAAY!!!! JERRY KRAUSE RESIGNS!!!! YAAAAAAAAAAAY!!!!

Sosa doesn't seem to care about getting that ball back. Hopefully, the market for that ball is dead, so the stupid kid and his greedy family get stiffed. Never could understand why someone would pay huge $$$ for a baseball that they didn't hit, didn't catch, and probably weren't even at the game in question. Just seems like a total waste of money to me - much like paying for autographs or autographed memorabilia. Sidebar: Autographs I have gotten in my life: Pat Kelly Mayor Daley ( Big Dick, the OG, not the current Little Dick ) Stan Bahnsen Pat DiNizio and Dennis Diken of the Smithereens some third base coach from the Tigers back in the early 70s - long Polish name, I think - I was a little kid, what did I know? The guy had a MLB uniform on - that was good enough for me

If 20 guys are destroyed by an off-ice incident in January, that's about the saddest thing I can say about a professional sports team. The Hawks used that crap as a crutch, and that's just weak. Fleury's play on the ice hurt the team way worse than one drunken incident ever could. Truth is, the Hawks have a terrible offense, a halfway-decent defense, and a good goaltender who gets worn down through overuse. I just hope that Leighton's play has convinced Brian The Goalie Killer that Thibault doesn't have to play 70 games a year. The Hawks played well this weekend against 2 playoff teams, but they played s***ty enough for 6 months that those games meant ab-so-lute-ly NOTHING. Sure, Detroit wanted to win to get home-ice for the Conference Championship series, but for them, it's not the end of the world - or the end of the season. For the LackHawks, it's time to golf....again. Sickening.

I only listen to Up With People and The Wiggles, because I like hearing HAPPY MUSIC!! I couldn't care less about lyrics - I listen to punk ( not much pop-punk ) and metal ( not much "nu-metal" ) becuase I enjoy the music. Faster tempos and loud guitars, that's what I like.

It wouldn't incriminate you, but it could get you hurt...unofficially, of course... and for the record, I was only being semi-serious. I figured your post was kind of tongue-in-cheek, but you never know around here...

I like some Bracket, but Swingin Utters, I'm not really a fan of.

You have the right to remain silent all the time, you only really need to exercise that right in a situation where not remaining silent can get you hurt or in trouble. If you want to call your boss an asshole, but you need your job, you better exercise your right to remain silent. If you feel like saying something racist, but you're the only person in the room of your own race, you'd better exercise your right to remain silent. If you're a Cub fan in a room full of Sox fans....exercise your right to remain silent, right? If you're being arrested, you shouldn't need an order to shut up. You should be smart enough to know that talking is against your better judgment. The cops wouldn't mind if you kept yapping, because you'd surely say something to f*** yourself over. Therefore, the right ( and not the order ) to remain silent.

Wow, it doesn't seem like a year already since that happened. My opinion, not that it matters: AIC was a good band that had a few great songs Layne Staley was a good enough singer, but not really the kind of singer I enjoy all that much - I prefer a rougher, lower voice in the bands I like. His death was a shame, but not a tragedy, because he did it to himself. I'm sure it was a tragedy to those he was close to, but I was not in that number, so to me it was just sad.
