  1. Not made up: "To generate the playoff odds, we take the current standings, the remaining schedule, and each team's projected performance. We use those inputs to simulate the remaining season 20,000 times. We aggregate these outcomes to find the probability of winning the division or a Wild Card spot, along with winning the World Series and various playoff rounds. If a team has a 90% chance to make the playoffs it means that 18,000 out of the 20,000 simulated seasons end with the team making the playoffs." MLB Playoff Odds | FanGraphs Baseball
  2. I think Moncada could have a solid season, but any potential return to 2019 form is a pipedream.
  3. I think Eloy is close to replacement level when he plays DH. So, I have a hard time caring...
  4. Essentially the Sox have to win 40 games and they won't be the worst in the modern era. We're going to win a lot more than 40 games.
  5. Kopech's FIP last year was more than a point higher than that of Touki Toussaint, Jose Urena, Jesse Scholtens, and Lance Lynn. In short he was awful, and must have been in competition for the worst starting pitcher in all of baseball.
  6. At some point you have to have some pride and make the guy earn a spot in the starting rotation. I'm cool with this.
  7. Cheers to 30+ starts 3 years in a row. In this day and age... not bad!
  8. I don't know much about projections, but Baseball Reference actually projects Chuckie to have the highest OPS of our 4 catching contenders.
  9. Maybe a classic White Sox player or players would be cool. Like Frank Thomas, Minnie Minoso and Mark Buehrle or somesuch.
  10. It really isn't unreasonable to get a webcast of some kind. Some of the most minor sports around do it.
  11. Do we really trust defensive metrics yet? While they sometimes seem to get the larger picture right, the numbers seem so inconsistent. A player will be in like the 3rd percentile for OAA one year and then in the 99th percentile the next year...
  12. This Bailey dude also has a problem with walks.
  13. Moncada's hits seeing eye singles, or the forceful variety?
  14. Also, is it just me, or do we sort of have a glut of left handed hitting outfielders? All of whom project a .600 to .750 OPS. ?
  15. This team should probably be in a complete rebuild, so I understand where the complaints about this trade are coming from. As in we got someone older for someone younger. But don't we have control over Fletcher for a long time? I know he's not Mickey Mantle, but I know Baseball Reference projects a .764 OPS for him. Not horrid. Probably even better if he only hits against righties.
  16. I agree that it could. I don't agree that it must have been a factor.
  17. Can we all just agree that we really don't know why Tim tanked last year?
  18. Sheesh... this all makes the Leury Garcia signing seem like an albatross wow.
  19. Do you have a source for the Marlins offer?
  20. Isn't DeJong only getting $1.75 million, plus a potential $250,000 in incentives?
