  1. For non-Chicago resident fans of the White Sox, this doesn't have a lot of appeal. So expectations are low!
  2. He's walking at a higher clip this year leading to the best OBP of his career. And that glove was slick last night.
  3. This was a good article. I think I had heard the story about his demonstration day on a Future Sox podcast already.
  4. I take back my eye roll at least partly. I looked into it a bit, and Mangameslost.com does suggest that the White Sox have been one of the worst teams in terms of wins lost due to injury. Now I don't know for sure if that has anything to do the training staff. But I'm a little more open to your line of thinking.
  5. Yeah I never quite came around to the pants. Jose Abreu out in the field looks like he is wearing golf pants or something. Dodger version may have the same issue.
  6. I remember him about as much as Kip Wells! Mostly both busts. It amazes me how people complain about our draft picks nowadays when you look back at how poorly our picks in the past turned out. Look at this period: 1995 - Jeff Liefer -2.9 WAR 1996 - Bobby Seay 3.0 WAR 1997 - Jason Dellaero -0.9 WAR 1998 - Kip Wells 8.0 WAR 1999 - Jason Stumm No Majors 2000 - Joe Borchard -1.5 WAR 2001 - Kris Honel No Majors 2002 - Royce Ring -0.9 WAR 2003 - Brian Anderson -0.2 WAR 2004 - Josh Fields -1.1 WAR 2005 - Lance Broadway 0.3 WAR, became an actor
  7. SS2K5, what is the motivation for carrying 3 catchers?
  8. But this isn't a badly constructed lineup, unless you have some problem with the order that I have overlooked. You can argue that Vaughn might be marginally better than Lamb even with a righty on the mound, but that's about it. Having Vaughn in our back pocket when Toronto tries to go lefty lefty could be helpful too. Zavala is super shaky behind the plate (Collins is yikes too admittedly). Hernandez needs a day off. And Tim Anderson is hurt. I don't think La Russa is the villain here.
  9. FYI - Brian Goodwin OPS versus righties is .898. Andrew Vaughn's is .660.
  10. I come here everyday for my fix of complete freakouts over the lineup, and you guys never disappoint.
  11. We are 3-0 in games started by Jose Berrios this year. His ERA is 4.50 in those 3 starts.
  12. This is not how baseball works. God, people in this gamethread need to give their heads a shake. It's toxic.
  13. Over their last 5 games the OBP of these two is a combined .368. So they're fine.
  14. Small point... Eloy and Luis Robert are not countrymen. Eloy is Dominican, and Robert is Cuban.
  15. I agree that all players across the league should knock it off with admiring their hits. In the age of analytics where we try to get every advantage possible, players are giving away the obvious advantage of getting to first base and making the turn as soon as possible. Do I think every player should run 100% right out of the batters box on every play? No. But the admiring seems to be a bit of a plague across the league and on our team. It seems quite often that guys admire it and it goes off the wall, or barely makes it out. All that aside, Tim Anderson is obviously a leader on this team, and a key to our success. Also, he is super smooth in the infield this year.
  16. Wow, this is an even hotter take than I expected to see. You've outdone yourself soxtalk.
  17. I logged on just to see the hilarious hot takes here after that game. I'm not disappointed.
  18. Yeah, I totally disagreed with letting Kopech take his first ever MLB at-bat if we were just going to pull him if he walked one guy. I feel like the odds of scoring insurance runs by pinch-hitting there outweigh the benefit of him maybe pitching a clean 8th. But it's just one regular season game. I'm not losing my mind over it. There is some benefit to getting Kopech a taste of hitting, and maybe he comes back and gets 3 outs quickly.
