Considering people are providing their thoughts on the trade based on Burger’s batting line in the daily box score, I doubt that would happen anytime soon.

Last year was actually worse for me. Higher expectations going into that season. Plus they were “in it” for a lot of the season, but just refused to get out of their own damn way. This season became a disaster so fast that there was basically no time to even give it a chance.

Maybe it would have more momentum if "Sell the team Jerry" had less syllables to chant.

I think there's this misconception from the anti tanking crowd that they think the rest of us actively enjoy tanking. No. It's just the less shitty of two shitty options.

Guys like Jon Jay, Yonder Alonso and Wellington Castillo are exactly the cheap veteran players you alluded to in a previous post that they would also bring in if they were trying to contend. Well, we know why Jay and Alonso were brought in, but the cheap veteran list is just as ugly the younger guys they were throwing out there in the tank years.

Maybe I'm in the minority, but I would easily take the hope and excitement of a 2019 season where they didn't play meaningful baseball in September standings-wise over some absolutely mediocre team that finishes right around .500 and is hoping Mark Kotsay and Omar Vizquel can propel them to being fringe contenders.

It’s this strange point in the season where I don’t even understand what I’m supposed to be rooting for anymore. Are the Pedro bad decisions and quotes actually good because they increase his chances of not returning? Other than Robert coming back and continuing to put up numbers, I’m finding it pretty hard to have any sort of feeling about anything else.

If you don’t believe that some communities lack the resources and accessibility needed for baseball compared to others then I don’t know what to tell you.

It’s so funny, cuz getting to 100 loses because you were playing a bunch of developing young bucks to help gauge things down the road is a 1000000x better managerial move than playing vets that have no future on the team. And yeah, I know I’m stating the obvious/preaching to the choir/etc. It’s just too bananas and backwards of a concept to let it continue silently bouncing around in my own head.

I would guess the same, not that Vaughn appears to be some born leader or anything. Pretty low bar to clear at the moment, I'd imagine. Also they get to play the whole "tradition of great first basemen" card that Quin mentioned. Also also they get to deflect the ugliness of the TA fight by focusing on Vaughn carrying him or whatever in a "pay attention to the one good thing that happened!" sort of way.
