8/31 GT: Sox vs. Royals - TLR Days Over???
Sox are gonna finally beat the Royals. Nice. Kind of a boring game, though, like most of 'em.

So is Gavin Sheets for real?
Agree to disagree. I worship Abreu in a baseball sense and want him to stay.

So is Gavin Sheets for real?
Winning organizations don't think that way IMO. Pay the guy some significant $$. He's earned it. ... Maybe he'll want to sign elsewhere after such a disappointing season (not for him but the team). I'm sure a contender will find room for him at 1B if they are smart.

Not attacking you just making a point. I can't believe how many people still hate on Abreu. Why the heck would you let the best player on the team, the one guy who cares, walk? This team of underachieving stiffs (in a baseball sense) has so many guys who need to be kicked out the door. Abreu is not one of them. Right now you definitely get rid of Grandal, Moncada, Harrison, Pollock, Andrus and most of the pitchers. Get rid of them and then we can talk. Play Abreu at first; split DH time between Sheets and Vaughn. Let Eloy play left (stress to him it'd be nice if he goes to Arizona and works on his fielding with college teams out there this winter), Robert center, and find a good fielding rightfielder somewhere.

TLR out for the year
I really think you are wrong. I don't think the Sox would go there lying about a guy's health. I know teams lie and politicians lie and all that, but that's bad karma to lie about a guy's health. That said my opinion is Tony is done. Life is too short and we'll be hearing his retirement soon. The team blows, there's lot of pressure on Tony. I feel for him. I know he got that second DUI and is kind of mean and all that, but cmon let's all show compassion. Get well Tony! And I stand my prediction. he's done as a manager.

Any sports team that moves to Portland right now is insane. Businesses are moving OUT not into that goshforsaken place.

Perspective Desperately Needed
No way it's an hour to Woodridge from The Cell after a normal night game. Cmon. Only way I could see that is if you can't get out of the lots for 20 minutes, which mght be possible I guess if that's what u mean. The 1:20 hour drive to the game is a deal breaker though. I would never do that. Add a 4 hour game that's 5 hours and 20 minutes. There will come a time nobody's gonna go to games, probably when the Boomers hit 80 years old or 75 maybe. Today's TV technology makes it unacceptable to take 1:20 to get to the park.

Perspective Desperately Needed
I appreciate your post. I read it all. It's worth discussion that's for sure. Your sentence: "You should have a real fear that we are seeing the final years of the Sox in Chicago. I do," makes me stop and pause. OK, yes at least we have a team and we should be thankful it's here. I don't think a new owner would move it. I may be naive but the Sox are still very very valuable $$ wise according to Forbes. As far as being thankful with what we have, I agree that's a healthy attitude. However this year is a misnomer, it's anti Sox. I can never (hyperbole I guess) remember a Sox team I've disliked more than this one. Granted some of it has to do with the fact baseball won't let its starting pitchers develop personlities by going more than 5 2/3 or 5 1/3 innings. It's taken away the fun of pitching. It's just horrible watching the parade of relievers. Also the shift is maddening and disgusting and the dead ball this year very very annoying. And the Sox lack of hustle and appearing to care and all the injuries make this season a misnomer for Sox fans used to GOOD HARD baseball at least. In other words ... I can't just be thankful we have a team. Not because of the disgusting product that has made me so mad as a Sox fan this year. (I don't think Sox are moving anytime soon).

Baseball makes me so mad. More games vs KC. How could anybody in their right mind pay good money for all these games against Central teams? My gosh, it's boring and there's no purpose to playing these teams all these times. Thank God it's changing finally next year. I tell u fans can be smarter than commissioners and owners. I've been complaining about this for years! Does anybody out there actually like playing divisional teams 19 frickin times? The only people who probably like it are families of players like the Masseys who can watch their kid play KC in Chicago a zillion times then make the short trip to KC where there are no fans at the games and they can spread out and watch their kid some more. Sox vs KC. Let me say it ... who cares who wins tonight. They've played this act too many times already!!!

Fire Everyone Thread/Rebuild Maybe?
I figured with the Bears gonzo to Arlington, LL cannot afford to lose the Cubs, Sox or Blackhawks to Arlington. So when everything changes with new GM, new manager, hopefully new owner, why not a new baseball palace at Soldier Field? p.s. I don't follow baseball that closely anymore except for the Sox. My Q is: With the Sox current roster as is ... let's say the roster could stay completely healthy thru the entire season, let's say they have 2-3 players out 2 weeks each and that's it. Could that Sox roster catch fire, say, next year and win the AL? Is a healthy Sox roster with no changes capable of winning it all? I'm assuming in this day and age other teams might have just as many holes.

8/27 GT: Sox v. Snakes @ 610CT
What a dead team. Pathetic. I see the paying customers got to watch this group pitch: Martin, Velasquez, Diekman, Ruiz, Kelly and Lopez. Wow 1 guy on that list deserves to be on a big league roster; maybe 1.5. And what horrible hitting except Sheets nicely running into one. So it's almost September. So far the team has failed in every single month in terms of playing good baseball. This has been bad baseball all season long with an uninspired, injured roster. Worst season I can remember in a long time considering their work vs. the AL Central. Thank goodness we go to a balanced schedule next year. Only 13 games vs your own division instead of 19.

8/26 Arizona @ Sox GT, 7:10
Sox have reached the point I don't care either, which is strange because as a fair weather fan if they somehow get hot and make the playoffs I still would care. It's just that series after series they just reek and though I feel sorry for the injured players it grows old following their maladies.

Ugh. BR hoops hired some older guy. Not an ageist here but to go from young, hip Bobby Frasor to some John Wooden-esque person makes little sense to greg. I think Frasor's running North Carolina offense would be more fun for kids. ... I did read the new ADs qualifications and he seems like he does have an acceptable resume. Frasor probably needs money to raise a family and coaching h.s. in the Catholic League or any league prolly doesn't pay the rent. Peace.

Student Loan Debt
I'm happy for those who get relief as college is a lot more expensive than back in the day when my out of state tuition was 450 bucks total a semester at a large state school. Frat rent/meals also was cheap, cheap, cheap. I do feel for those who worked 3 jobs to pay off their loans. Since we're printing money, I wish we'd take care of those people too. it's really unfair IMO especially if taxpayers have to foot the bill. Some person who worked 3 jobs to pay off their loans now has to pay for others? Yikes. Unfair if that's the case. That was the rumor. Finally I think college endowment funds, if they are over a billion dollars, should foot some of this bill not taxpayers. College costs are outrageous. I think any student who has a 'worthless major' should not go to college. Unless u have a certain career in mind and 'need' college and even law school, med school, just skip college. Lots of degrees mean nothing. Peace (still seems like IT or HR is the way to go to make $$).

8/25- Sox at Orioles, 6:05
Can you imagine if the Sox had a humble attitude? Let's say KW, Jerry, Ozzie all worked together in the past instead of all pursuing their own agendas ($$$$$), the Sox might have been a dynasty. Ozzie was the perfect manager. Winning it all increased an already big ego. Think of if he was humble. All he needed was to embrace some advice from the GM regarding his giving away the final game of almost every series with his Sunday lineups and a few other things that could have been discussed, figuring a way to get him to stifle about world issues, etc. with the media. He was so talented they could have put something in his contract to reward him if there were no controversies in a given season with things directly caused by his speech. .... If Kenny would have allowed tinkering to hire better scouts and advanced scouts. And for Jerry to open his pocketbook so the Sox could sign some free agents and not embark on a silly tankjob/rebuild. The rebuild is a complete and utter failure. Just my thoughts on arrogance. Didn't help the White Sox as KW, Ozzeroo and Jerry and of course Tony all have unhealthy egos IMO.

Bad loss. I feel sorry for Engel. He just took his eye off the ball for some reason. Very sad situation. Game was over. I see Moncada got hurt again. What a year. Hopefully Sox fix the medical issues for 2023. This is no way to play baseball short handed every week.

Good luck to them finding a hoops coach as qualified as Frasor. I'd promote his assistant and see if he can continue the Frasor momentum.

I wonder what the powers that be had against Bobby if they didn't make him AD. Wasn't he already assistant AD? I didn't know the AD left as well. I wonder if Bobby and Badke simply need more money in this day and age. I see my old grade school Queen of M has merged with St. Bernadette. So it's not like these Catholic schools have a lot of cash to throw around. I would think most Rice grads who donate money to the school were mighty happy with both Badke and Bobby and would have donated some $ to help them stick around if making money in this economy was a factor. What happened to the old Rice AD where we need a new one? Peace and thanx.

That's a White Sox Paper Cuts Winner.
Didn't watch. I'll always gives thumbs up to a victory though. This team blows but wins once in a while.
