  1. Why not Dunn? What do we want old Abreu when we have old Dye? Stupid. Dye is better.
  2. Is the McClouth guy attainable in trade? Is he any good? Who would they want from us? If we trade Dye, we need an outfielder.
  3. Weaver was great in how outspoken he was. Sometimes a bunt is in order even in the AL. It's funny when we trot guys to the plate who no way in the world can lay down a bunt. The bad thing is when we and other teams in that predicament give it a shot anyway and the guy predictably screws up the bunt.
  4. I wish we'd sign Wood and beg somebody to take MacDougal and his millions off our hands.
  5. Wow, Cowley gives us the goods in SunTimes. He's gone. I guess we're selling high. Dye is damn good. I just hope we get something good for him. I really would prefer keeping him and trading Paulie or Thome. Guess the no trade clauses deem that impossible, but you'd think Thome and/or Paulie would agree to go to certain teams. We may miss Dye's bat when all is said and done.
  6. It's amazing how the Sox have rid themselves of all the major disappointments/or problem children. Swish the pouter - gone with his lousy BA. OC - the guy who calls the pressbox to b**** about errors, gone. Logan - the guy Oz has ripped in the press for being a BP pitcher, gone. Javy- the guy Oz calls out for being a non big game pitcher, gone. Crede - his agent the guy everybody hates, gone. Oz really is a major player in our organization right now.
  7. No, but he's not bad. He gets hurt a lot. He's too old.
  8. Why did furcal only play in 36 games last year??
  9. He's not a question mark, but an exclamation point. I know, a cliche.
  10. My god. He's Brian Roberts, not Nellie Fox.
  11. I still say he'd be more welcome with Oz and everybody since we got rid of the disgustingly bad Swish, Logan and Javy.
  12. Please bring back Jon. And at least consider keeping OC.
  13. Since we already got rid of Javy and Boone and Swish, I wouldn't mind if we kept my fourth least favorite player in OC. I think he at short and Lexi at second is the way to go. I'm hopeful Lexi will excel at his natural position, short, but he was pretty darn comfortable at second. OC booted some routine balls. I could envision lanky Lexi booting more.
  14. I would agree. Bobby is pretty damn good. Pitching and defense generally wins titles. I hope we don't ruin both our pitching and defense.
  15. That actually would help our team. Gobble as a BP pitcher? Man he'd cure what ails our righty bombers. It reminds me of my Little League career. Our old manager didn't like to pitch or had no arm at all and he was sick of guys throwing too many balls during batting practice. So he told me to go pitch. Guys were blasting my meatballs all over the park and over the fence. Later my manager thanked me for throwing great BP as we hit the heck out of the ball the next game. I didn't tell him I was trying to get guys out.
  16. With little knowledge of money, I'd say the blockbuster (if there is one) will be for Beltran. Or possibly a minor deal with Flubs for Fukudome. I don't sense we'll deal for DeJesus. Royals don't want to face him 18 times. Don't know what to think about the ever-present (on this board) possiblity of Roberts or Figgins. I'd say no. I'd think we'd sign a veteran free agent starter but I haven't scanned the list. We need an inning eater!! Is Garland still available?
  17. These comments on Gilmore and Lillebrige show you how there are no guarantees in baseball. These guys had to feel sure of success coming out of high school. The wrist injury thing is weird on Lillebrige how he said the inflammation never really goes away.
  18. Yeah, isn't Cabrera really tall? Haven't we learned our lesson with tall, wild pitchers?
  19. Oh, I see. I think ESPN.com still has Reyes in there that's why I said that. I'd prefer the other names, trusting you guys that those prospects are decent.
  20. This is from the Minn. Star-Tribune. Blake can be pesky. Hopefully he's too old to sting us every game. OC also could prove a thorn. Hopefully he'll boot some routine grounders when we play them if they acquire him.
  21. I read some of the articles saying we get JoJo Reyes instead of Lilledge? Isn't Reyes also a stiff? I don't mean to be that negative. I just truly think Boone is worthless and I can't imagine anybody thinking Javy has much value past five innings. I mean he's a five inning guy at best. Maybe in the NL that's very valuable.
  22. Javy and Boone truly suck, but as far as what we got in return. Let's see. I can't imagine we acquired very good prospects. Traditionally the Braves have been a smart organization. Javy is trash and so is Boone.
  23. This is Gonzalez's article. Call me a skeptic. I can't believe these Braves' prospects are as good as the article suggests in a trade for Javy and Logan. I mean Javy who looked horrible at the end of the year and worthless Logan? To the person on here who is a minor league expert ... please give us the accurate lowdown on these guys we acquired.
  24. Give me a similar analysis of Willie Harris. Aren't they the same guy? Bring back Willie Harris!
  25. I wish we'd signed Renteria. We went with Cabrera one year. Might as well have tried Renteria for the next and kept Lexi at 2B. Many assumed Swish would have a bounce back season next year; why not Renteria??? Who did renteria sign with?
