Since we already got rid of Javy and Boone and Swish, I wouldn't mind if we kept my fourth least favorite player in OC. I think he at short and Lexi at second is the way to go. I'm hopeful Lexi will excel at his natural position, short, but he was pretty darn comfortable at second. OC booted some routine balls. I could envision lanky Lexi booting more.

I would agree. Bobby is pretty damn good. Pitching and defense generally wins titles. I hope we don't ruin both our pitching and defense.

That actually would help our team. Gobble as a BP pitcher? Man he'd cure what ails our righty bombers. It reminds me of my Little League career. Our old manager didn't like to pitch or had no arm at all and he was sick of guys throwing too many balls during batting practice. So he told me to go pitch. Guys were blasting my meatballs all over the park and over the fence. Later my manager thanked me for throwing great BP as we hit the heck out of the ball the next game. I didn't tell him I was trying to get guys out.

With little knowledge of money, I'd say the blockbuster (if there is one) will be for Beltran. Or possibly a minor deal with Flubs for Fukudome. I don't sense we'll deal for DeJesus. Royals don't want to face him 18 times. Don't know what to think about the ever-present (on this board) possiblity of Roberts or Figgins. I'd say no. I'd think we'd sign a veteran free agent starter but I haven't scanned the list. We need an inning eater!! Is Garland still available?

These comments on Gilmore and Lillebrige show you how there are no guarantees in baseball. These guys had to feel sure of success coming out of high school. The wrist injury thing is weird on Lillebrige how he said the inflammation never really goes away.

I read some of the articles saying we get JoJo Reyes instead of Lilledge? Isn't Reyes also a stiff? I don't mean to be that negative. I just truly think Boone is worthless and I can't imagine anybody thinking Javy has much value past five innings. I mean he's a five inning guy at best. Maybe in the NL that's very valuable.

Javy and Boone truly suck, but as far as what we got in return. Let's see. I can't imagine we acquired very good prospects. Traditionally the Braves have been a smart organization. Javy is trash and so is Boone.

This is Gonzalez's article. Call me a skeptic. I can't believe these Braves' prospects are as good as the article suggests in a trade for Javy and Logan. I mean Javy who looked horrible at the end of the year and worthless Logan? To the person on here who is a minor league expert ... please give us the accurate lowdown on these guys we acquired.

I wish we'd signed Renteria. We went with Cabrera one year. Might as well have tried Renteria for the next and kept Lexi at 2B. Many assumed Swish would have a bounce back season next year; why not Renteria??? Who did renteria sign with?

After that catch to beat the Twins, Anderson deserves his shot to start next season. Just say no to Taveras.

Taveras is on another team so many like him. Give me a break. He's Willie Harris. He's Gathright. He's OWENS! We don't need Harris.

Interesting thread. I have my own question out of leftfield. Should Thome try to bust the Thome shift? He has power to all fields. Why not stroke it to left field next season? Any ground outs will be base hits instead of grounders to the right fielder.

Mark isn't free of criticism on here. It's just time to try something new. Get rid of Javy.

Swish better get off to a good start this season. Those fans in NY wouldn't like the Swish we had all but one month last season. What a light-hitting stiff he was for us.

I respectfully disagree with you a lot. 1.) Why wouldn't Garland come back to Chicago? Great city. He won a title here. 2.) You say he's not worth whatever he's asking. Who the hell in baseball today IS WORTH what they are asking/making?? I mean if you want us to have all guys in the first 3-4 years of their careers making peanuts, say so. But my god. How many players do you think are worth what they make? None? I'd agree with that. No ballplayer who is eligible for free agency is worth what he's making. 3.) Garland is not exactly old I realize what Kenny said about money. 4.) If JR and KW won't give a 3-4 year deal, then I guess just keep getting guys like Danks and Floyd. Even the Royals have signed some free agent pitchers like Meche. You think Meche is worth what he is making? Of course not. They are paying him anyway. I think there's a decent chance Danks and Floyd will regress next season. Hopefully they won't. We need some veteran pitchers and Oz obviously wants nothing to do with Javy. My rotation: Mark, Danks, Floyd, Garland, Byrd. I think my rotation is a division winner.

Trade Javy with Jermaine in a blockbuster; sign Garland as an inning eater. He's better than Byrd. Garland is less annoying than Javy. Just do it.

Sort of. But I don't think many fans have a problem with going younger and hopefully a little faster on the basepaths. But they probably shouldn't be raising ticket prices in this economy. Baseball ticket prices are so out of whack it's amazing. I guess some people have the money.

Best job in world: Baseball player. Worst job: Working stiff (non rich) fan. Baseball player can drink tons of beer get chubby and still excel at the game while chubby. Can drink beer in clubhouse after the game for free and take a limo home. Fan can drink beer if he'll pay 7.50 a beer. It'll be warm, he'll get fat and have the wife yell at him for getting drunk at the game. And he may get a DUI on the way home.
