  1. Certainly KW can't be so dumb as to take on Jose Guillen. I can imagine Dayton Moore asking teams about Guillen. I am sure fellow GMs laugh over the phone uncontrollably. I stand by my statement it would be the worst trade in Sox history to have Dye in a trade for that bum. Dye is total class; Guillen a total ass.
  2. Caulfield I understand your loyalty and vouching for him. He was a DISASTER in KC. If you want to say that's because they were a losing team, I call bulls***. He also was not productive at the plate. He was an automatic out for so long as KC fell out of contention then had one very hot period for maybe a month. He sucked again right after the all star break. He was a fricking disaster. You can't write off this season as saying it was simply out of character. I pray he doesn't join our team. He is a clown.
  3. With all due respect, that would be the worst trade in Sox history and assure us flip flopping KC in the standings. Dye is one class act! Guillen is one of the most selfish pricks in baseball history. The troubles he had this past year in KC were mind boggling and legendary. He is somebody you do not want on your team, period. He also had slumps as bad as Paulie. Guillen is a disaster. No Sox fan in their right mind would root for that bum. Richard seems to be a good prospect. Dye remains productive. While DeJesus is pretty good, he is no Beltran. He can't steal a base or won't and can't learn at this part of his career. I like him personally and he's the opposite of Guillen personality wise. He'd be OK to have I guess. I predict Ozzie will beat up Jose Guillen before the season is over if we get him. He'll physically kick his ass which is what Hillman shoulda done.
  4. We keep talking DeJesus on this board. Who would the Royals want for him? They don't need Fields with Gordon trying to emerge at third. The Royals already have enough mediocre pitchers. They don't want Javy. So who would they want?
  5. I'd think if the Cubs want Teahan they'll get him for some of those names mentioned in the article.
  6. I agree. I didn't want Crisp. Royals have changed two of their nine everyday lineup guys. I don't think they've upgraded much with Crisp and Jacobs.
  7. I agree, though I was encouraged reading some article about the Sox brass being high on some minor league reliever ready to take over for Bobby. I'm not sold on Thornton closing, not at all, except by committee.
  8. Did anybody see the little pissing match in the media. Gotta love it. This was from DeLuca's article in the SunTimes. Good article by the way on Viciedo up on their Website. p.s. Cubano, love your posts and your attitude. You are da man.
  9. Me too. But that ain't happening. Hope KW and his scouts have evaluated these Mets correctly. Can you say rebuilding mode?
  10. Viciedo is 19? Is that the truthful age? If he's older already maybe he'll pull a Lexi and rule in spring training and make the team. Would be nice to start Fields and see if competition pushes him to hit from the start. If this Viciedo is as good as Lexi ... wow, the future on the left side of the infield appears bright.
  11. Anybody who thinks Affeldt can be a closer is a moron. He is awful. That's why I think in the offseason you can trade a Paullie or Dye and get a lot in return. If Paulie had a trade clause. Guys sound much better in the offseason, like MacDougal, Sisco, Dotel, Swisher. During the season when you see Paulie not hit 3 months, not so much. Affeldt pure and simple sucks.

It's funny how sometimes third base coaches want to believe our plodders can somehow make it home on a single to left or center from second base. Then reality sets in and our only hope of getting the runner in is a horrible throw. Not complaining. Our home run era has been exciting, but the coaches at third need to get real and never get a plodder throw out.
  13. Gload was great, but probably proved with KC he's a career backup. No poor man's Mark Grace.
  14. My bad. But your comment is baffling as well. Why will they undoubtedly regress? Why can't they do as well or better? isn't that what competition is about? Improving? I was wondering about them being one-year wonders but hoping they would be as good or better. Not surely regressing.
  15. We need to trade Javy for scraps and sign 2 free agent starters even if one of them is Byrd. This is a big year for Danks and Floyd. If they get the sophomore jinx, with our bullpen we ain't gonna win many games. I'm not saying they will. I applaud both of them. I'm just saying. It's not out of the question to be a one=year wonder.
  16. Randy Johnson needs to open a baseball academy for tall pitchers in the winter. MacDougal has no clue how to pitch. For years he's known his weakness is his control and yet he never has improved a lick. He simply sucks.
  17. Swisher was a mistake. Let's move on. Thank God KW chose Ozzie over Swisher. We got Betemit for him; hopefully Betemit will excel. I just wish Swisher was traded to Washington so I'd never have to see him on TV again.

Am I wrong cringing when I think of Jose pitching for us again? Even after what he did for us during the glorious season.
  19. Fair enough. Jimmy did a good job of staying healthy this past season. Hope his back hangs in there with all those hacks he takes. I don't hate Jimmy, especially after that blast against Minnie. I also like Dye, though, quite a bit actually.
  20. Bye bye Swish. You might resurrect your career as a Yankee and make KW look bad, but I thought you simply sucked. I am not in the clubhouse, but I would bet 10,000 bucks that Swish's little b****fest on that last road trip when he sulked at the decrease in his playing time made Oz pretty much tell KW to get rid of the guy. Maybe Steff can set us straight on Swish's relationship with Oz/KW after that last road trip. If insiders tell me I'm wrong, I'll accept it. I don't wish ill will on the guy, but like one poster on here said, I also will not miss his backwards Ks. Man he had one s***ty season with the White Sox. Hope Betemit is productive. Cause we gave up a lot in the initial trade FOR Swish.
  21. I like Danks a lot better than Floyd, despite Floyd's excellent season.
  22. That's way too much for Garza. I'd hate to see Dye go and keep Paulie and Thome. I'd rather deal Paulie or Thome and keep Dye, realizing the no trade stuff factors in. Dye is the least annoying of our plodders. He's much more consistent than Paulie/Thome. Hopefully if Kenny deals Bobby and Dye it's to the same team in a blockbuster. We need to get something REAL GOOD back for those two.
  23. OM god. Affeldt is one of the worst pitchers in all of baseball. As bad as Boone. Good try with that list though. I had to laugh at the first comment. About these all being dud players. Pretty much right.
  24. Good job, Lexi. Second is nice. That was amazing when Longoria homered off us his first two bats of the postseason. That set a lousy tone for us in the series. I still think CQ might have had that same effect on our Sox down the stretch and in the playoffs.
  25. Palin is going to have to change her public persona if she plans on getting the nod in four years. She should disappear for 2 years nationally, get rid of the youbetchas and speak slower and more distinctly. You can bet she'll get coached big time. She won't come close to saying anything stupid next tiime. If there's a total remake of her public persona she may stand a chance. Personally as a lifelong Republican I can't stand her. I hate to say I didn't vote this year because I refused to vote for McCain with her on the ticket. I don't really like Obama's stances on several issues and I feared if I went in there I'd vote for Obama as a protest of Palin. So I took the chicken way out and didn't vote.
