4/15/24 - KC @ CWS, 7:40 PM Eastern
I know $$ is so vital to Stoney and most all people, but how can he last the season? He's seen so much baseball in his life it has to be pretty tough to provide commentary on these meaningless games. I'd think Stoney would go the way of Hawk and resign and count on a summer of golf, not watching bad baseball. Stoney is 77 in July. Why would he waste precious time in the booth for this team?

4/15/24 - KC @ CWS, 7:40 PM Eastern
Broken record here. I do not know baseball anymore. But even I knew in late January when most all of the transactions were complete that this lineup had no chance. Why didn't Jerry and Getz panic at that point and figure something out offensively?? I mean I guess our lineup with Eloy and Robert available has a chance on a 'given night' to score 5-8 runs, but even with them I knew we were doomed offensively. Without those two, I can't see it getting better run wise. Because a majority of our hitters are incapable of even hitting .250. I guess conceivably Vaughn, Eloy and Sheets could get hot and Beni could turn into an OBP machine but, nah. With all these no name pitchers and clueless hitters, the Sox gots no chance on 9 of 10 nights.

Stop the presses: Sox hold team meeting
We don't even have any proven players to take over a team meeting. If Jose Abreu was here he could ask: "All due respect to my teammates and you coaches, do you think we're stupid? We're not capable of better than 2-14 with this roster of nice guys, but baseball bums." What's Vaughn or Sheets going to speak with their sub-human batting averages? Or Cease? Wait, he got traded. DeJong or Nicky could get up and say: "Let's be honest. I'm just happy to be here helping out our new defensive juggernaut. You got me for defense; I'll show u some defense while hitting .150. Peace out."

Jake Burger
Hey the Marlins are 3-14. Maybe they'd ship us back Jake Burger for a few minor league pitchers. They're going nowhere and we need Jake back!

Jake Burger
I see Jake the Snake is not having a good year yet. He does have 3 homers and 15 RBI which would help our lineup. Not getting on base or hitting for average, though.

Tommy Pham close to deal with White Sox
Tommy Pham, little does he know, he's gonna be THE fan favorite. He's our only hitter (cept for mabe Vaughn and Sheets) who can possibly hit a HR. Pham is gonna take over the South Side. Get him a Spam commercial ASAP.

20-142
KC can thank Chicago for its nice record, its nice start. How many years have the Sox kickstarted KC's season? That 4-0 sweep was insanity. It showed how far the Sox are from other teams. I mean the Royals won all 4 and didn't need to sweat at all. And excited a fanbase in KC thinking the Royals are good. I expect more of the same in Chicago however if the Sox are going to win 30 games this season they might bag a few wins over hapless KC.

Tommy Pham close to deal with White Sox
Good post Caulfield. Though Pham is ancient (at least according to this board when I was upset we were giving up on Abreu; they are about the same age) and though if you study his stats he's not been a beast (career high 23 HR; 70 something RBI) he does pass the eye test (unless he's gotten fat) and people have heard of him. In other words, he's a legitimate big leaguer, albeit an old one. My guess is the Sox rightfully so are truly panicking that with this lineup we might only win 10-20 games. Seriously. At some point you have to add somebody with a decent MLB background (I realize some of the stiffs in our everyday order also have been in the bigs for an extended period of time, but they are so bad they are laughable). Pham is not a total joke. So I say sign him and give him the clubhouse to lead (lol, but yeah, lead). Comments? Need I say: Pham is the man.

Is it wrong to want the Sox to embarrass themselves?
Thanks i worship minnie in a non religious kinda way. Also Luis Aparicio and the late Gary Peters.

Is it wrong to want the Sox to embarrass themselves?
I'd read that thesis. Post it here pls. Nice stuff.

Is it wrong to want the Sox to embarrass themselves?
I can't explain it either but I feel as you do. This can't be healthy. I prolly need to divorce myself completely from the team. I won't watch it but I still follow the box scores and highlights.

4/14 Reds @ Sox 1:10
Remember that year I got in vicious arguments on here because I wanted the Sox to win games in September and not lose to get a better draft pick? Even stubborn individuals like me have a breaking point. I hope we lose every game the rest of the season. We're already out of playoff contention and have a roster of old stiffs and young bless their hearts but can't play baseball and a front office of uncaring buffoons. So yes I 'finally' want us to lose even knowing we get no better than the 10th pick. I care not about the draft still.

Sox hitters are 3-for-19 so far today. That's about what u'd expect looking at those players on the lineup card. Oh baby worst team in Sox history by far.

ESPN predicts 120 loss season for the White Sox
Didn't Reinsdorf say the reason he went with Getz was he owed it to the fans to not have to wait (for wins)? That may go down as the worst sentence ever uttered in Chicago sports history. The Sox currently have a roster filled with one player you'd pay to see. That is today's losing pitcher, Crochet. Not one other player is worth paying to see. I include Robert and Eloy cause they are rarely healthy (even tho Robert made it thru last season OK). OK if you count him Sox have two players you'd pay to see. One pitcher and one everyday player. Do we realize how rare this is in baseball history? How can the commissioner allow this? The Sox should face some kind of penalty or the franchise should be contracted. p.s. how dare Getz think Lopez, DeJong and Maldonado were acceptable options up the middle. Unacceptable. The outrage should be expressed daily.

4/13 GT - Reds at Sox (1:10pm)
Rats. 22,000 is a huge crowd.

4/13 GT - Reds at Sox (1:10pm)
How do reporters even think of questions to ask? It's like 'what does it matter?' I guess just focus on the individual game and ask Pedro to tip his cap to the opponent and what it did on a given day.

4/13 GT - Reds at Sox (1:10pm)
Like the Cleveland announcer said, the 68 team had some fricking good players. Peters, Horlen, Wilbur Wood, Pete Ward, Luis Aparicio, Bill Melton, Ken Berry. At least those guys were actual MLB caliber.

4/13 GT - Reds at Sox (1:10pm)
We're already out of the race. Time to have some fun. Let one fan per day who can fit into a uniform sign a one-day deal and get one at bat at least. Maybe a high school or college player in the area gets an at bat. Also, bring back former players and sign them to 3-day contracts. Like Ventura. Let him play 3 games at 3B. Ozzie, let him play SS 3 games. Jermaine Dye if he's still in shape, gets 3 days in RF, Konerko 3 days of DH, Bobby Jenks 3 games; Buehrle one start. Have some fun with it. Let Andy the Clown coach 3B one day. Let famous Chicagoans either get an at bat or coach 1B or 3B. Any other suggestions for fun at the park with this Sox team?

4/13 GT - Reds at Sox (1:10pm)
They trot out there a team with about a 1 in 10 chance of winning on a given day. OK maybe 1.5 out of 10,

4/13 GT - Reds at Sox (1:10pm)
So true. How many guys in our box score (two hits) are even MLB players? Worthy of being on a roster? Look at this lineup and people are expected to support this?? Grossman (cmon), Vaughn (.180 and officially a bust), Sheets (see Vaughn), Pillar (u kidding me?), Sosa (slow start, not promising), Bong DeJong (my gawd), Remillard (ugh), Fletcher (geezus), Mandy (he's as done as burnt toast), subs today Nicky (he should be in independent ball or a commercial on how to field and never hit), Shewmake (time to get a real job, ain't got a future in ball). Then Crochet (10 strikeouts yeah, but five earned runs in 4 2/3), Garcia, Mama Leone, Leasure suit and Kopech whom I still like. The relievers had a good day on a day we got 2 hits. Blah.

4/12 Reds @ Sox 6:40 CDT
Your story would be great for TV piece in a long dismal season. A Sox fan admitting he went to the game just for the delicious food and didn't even really watch the game. Prolly more Cincinnati fans than Sox fans at the game today I'd think.
-
4/12 Reds @ Sox 6:40 CDT
I hear you on the food. How'd you get off with no parking fee? Good for u. 40 bucks isn't so bad for delicious ballpark food, the only good thing about a Sox game. Watching Bong play and Nicky Lopez, they should pay the fans money for stomaching that.

Sox looking at building in South Loop
Well that is infuriating. Even though he won me the title in 2005 I no longer have positive feelings about him. What is going on now (and the past several years) is unacceptable and infuriating and disgusting. No fan should support what has happened at 35th and Shields.

This picture exists
That's a good pic of all three of these gents. Tony looks way better than he did as skipper. It's great Ozzie over the past few years is totally welcome to work Sox games. He looks great there. Is Ozzie one of those guys everybody likes? Or can he be a jerk? I'm not talking about his statements to media, just his overall personality and demeanor. He seems like a guy folks would want to be around. I could be mistaken obviously.

Sox looking at building in South Loop
I wonder who Jerry is blaming for this mess of a team. Surely there are some non 'yes-men' in his life that tease/mock/ridicule him for this sorry excuse of a team. And his choices of GM and manager? Surely some people in his life are giving him hell for owning this awful club. Maybe he laughs at them and just shows them his full wallet.
