  1. I would trade Eloy for two GOOD pitchers. Get rid of him, Injury prone.
  2. I think you are right. They could put together an amazing highlight film package of Vaughn. He's just wildly inconsistent. He did hit .258, which is not good but it's not .220. He did have 80 rbis which for this team was MVP-like. And unlike most of the team he appears to hustle as you said and enjoy the game. If he could somehow become more consistent and lay off the bad pitches he could be a 30 to 35 homer, 110 RBI guy (old school stats). I'd work with him this offseason and get him a sports psychologist, though the Sox aren't good at that.
  3. Excellent point, LipMan. They won't be lowering parking or concession prices or going to paper tickets. Won't ever happen.
  4. If baseball goes to 3 inning guys in the future and kills the position of starter he might be pretty good if he'd throw strikes.
  5. But it's so strange TV companies that covered baseball are going bankrupt and Sox attendance blows now and is downward trending. It takes a huge payroll to get decent players and yet the Sox are worth 2 billion. Also the world has never been in a more precarious state (Covid type diseases can shut it down, violence if it doesn't stop could shut it down; wasn't there a gun incident in the Cell?). It seems there are so many things downward trending re. baseball yet ... Sox are worth 2 bill. If I were Jerry I'd sell it and take the 2 bill and start dishing it to his survivors.
  6. I find it absolutely weird that the Sox will see another 30% drop off in season tickets and additional huge drop in TV ratings and yet the franchise is worth what, 2 billion dollars? And didn't the Ballys sports network or one of those fold and have to be taken over by MLB? Yet the Sox are worth 2 bill? Must be nice to be a sports owner when this non sequitir exists. I guess the Sox have a ballpark worth a lot of money (parking) and are still selling a lot of merchandise to go with whatever their TV deal is despite the fact nobody watches anymore.
  7. Tough loss to Nazareth 31-30. Looks like we aren't going to make the state playoffs. Maybe next year the domination begins with all the good JV and soph teams moving up. I guess we could beat Montina and Rita and go 5-4 but I doubt it. Not our year.

Is that true? 3 accusers is serious stuff. I have seen the alleged victim in this latest case appear on a lot of TV shows or podcasts. Not sure what she's been saying. Not interested in watching this saga unfold. Sad if she made it up.
  9. Cause there's really nothing to talk about otherwise re. our fave team. In the past I'd get in hot water cause we'd discuss Abreu and I'd express my support/love for him and face the music from the haters. Or we could discuss a good pitching prospect like Cease. Now? Pretty much we can't discuss any player cause all of 'em are unlikeable. Think about it, who on our team do you enjoy watching and are willing to discuss positively in a thread? Cease? That ship appears to have sailed. Too many pitches in his starts and walks ... Vaughn and Sheets? Not quite ... TA? Ugh. Only hope for him is amazing offseason work and comeback player of the year ... Moncada? Please ... Robert? OK but he still gets hurt too much lessening his loveability ... Kopech? 27 years old and trending downward. ... That new catcher we got? Appears to be a much worse hitter than Gary Peters. ... Trades? Nobody can logically discuss trades cause our guys are being dealt at their lowest possible value. In other words ... no discussion of the Sox can be held without discussing the fact the team reeks. None of us want that but there are no likeable players, the manager appears to be way overmatched and the GM has no experience. The owner is eminently unlikeable, seemingly satisfied with the one WS title. There are no topics to discuss. There are other threads to discuss MLB on the whole.
  10. Ditto me. And the scary thing is I came very close to stopping to check the box scores. I like to see if Vaughn is building his BA at all even though BA means nothing now. Also I like to see if a position player pitched in all our routs. I will say Pedro in September never put in a position player. He put in some hack reliever to close out blowout losses. Once I stop even checking the box scores of Sox games, I'd be done completely. i don't want to be done. I want to like the Sox and MLB again. I have no desire to watch the playoffs. That never happens to me. ... I'm not alone if ratings are down 40 percent. WOW.
  11. That's why I was against the Sox ill advised decision to tank. You try to get in the playoffs by winning an inept division, then see if you can catch fire. That's a much more sound strategy than tanking and trying to rebuild. Insanity. One problem with the Sox right now is for the first time in perhaps decades they have no talent or very very very little talent on the MLB roster. So tinkering to become a contender would be a difficult task and tanking would be so bad. The team if it trades its only 'decent' players (TA, Moncada, Vaughn, Cease, Robert) and acquire a batch of prospects may field the worst team in baseball history for a while. Getz has his work cut out either way. But your goal should always be to have a team that conceivably could win the division then catch lightning in a bottle in the playoffs.
  12. I would as well. Of course no guarantee their replacements will be much better. Vaughn might actually deserve one more year in a Sox jersey. He ended up with 80 RBI and hit almost .260. 21 homers. I won't cry if he's dealt but he actually might look good in the lineup. Shoulda kept Burger as well. "On paper" TA, Burger, Eloy, Vaughn isn't horrific. But alas Burger is gone.
  13. If I were a coach I would not take parents' calls. And in person confrontations would not be pretty. ... That said I wonder if school ADs and principals 'force' the coaches to talk to parents. Seems to me if you want a sports program, parents need to stay out of it. If there are formal complaints, allegations of hazing or something criminal, go to police or the AD first.
  14. 19,000 fans is kinda embarrassing. What does that tell an owner?? Get that team the heck out of Florida. I'd love to get the Rays on the South Side with their ownership and ship Jerry's Sox to Vegas or contract them.
  15. Thanks. I did not know that about the MLB. Maine South of course has only one loss I think, to Br Rice. Good to hear coach Q knows what he's doing and it's trending upward for the future. Should be interesting to see if BR can beat Nazareth and Rita. I'd think we would beat Montini though they are 5-1. My guess is the Rita game is huge and emotional. what is brian badke doing now? is he still in the area? I don't even know what Fraser is doing now.
  16. Well if u don't like him, pick some of the other writers of that era. Critical columns were very common at least as I recall. Unless I'm missing something, not as many critical pieces on the Sox these days though I do remember reading one or two late in this disastrous campaign.
  17. Same with me. Lifelong fan just finally stopped watching. After the all-star break I was done. I not only despise this team I despise modern baseball: Whiff or home run. I despise our Sox getting behind in the count and waving at the ball in the dirt for strike three. Or the pathetic half swing where they are fooled and either get the call or whiff. ... Of course the shift which remains and players refusal to poke hits thru the shift. Annoying. No bunt singles. Manfred should just change the rules and play home run derby if HRs are so special. Or play 5 innings real ball and end it with 4 innings of derby. And pitchers who have redefined the term starter. Can't go more than 5 1/3. Pathetic. With pitchers W/L records meaningless and complete games a thing of the past, they've taken away all interest in that position. Somehow pitchers arms have completely changed and they can't go deep in games cept for a rare rare occasion. How bad were the tv ratings anyway fathom, educate us pls.
  18. That is all true. I just wish we'd get somebody who can run a team like Rob Thomson. This is a new era of media with no real critics like Mariotti back in the day. So we don't hear the stories of perhaps how bad Grifol is. Did the Sox have one highlight all season? Maybe a five game win streak or something.
  19. Keeping him is wrong. Sox gave him a whole season. The team was one of the worst in club history. Get rid of him. My gosh, Sox. You can afford to pay him exit money. This guy needs to go.
  20. Ozzie ripping the Sox on pre game for playing this insulting lineup on fan appreciation day. No TA and Eloy, laughable.
  21. The Sox should be pleased with attendance this season. Our fans shock me. They haven't resembled A's fans yet. They still come out. Did we really have 30,000 last night? That's incredible. The fact the Sox haven't publicly gushed about their loyal fans and done something for them the last week of the season (they could have had free parking or free food) astounds me. To those of u who went to two or more games (up to 40 or so) I appreciate your loyalty. Good job. I'm kind of sad I haven't watched a game since about Aug. 8. I have watched some highlights on my mlb game summary package. My mlb is run out after today's game and I doubt I'll renew. No interest in watching anything but highlights.
  22. I agree he's not trying to deliberately ruin the franchise. This season's ineptitude came out of nowhere. However going .500 under Tony ... he should have hired somebody like Maddon, not somebody from the Royals who the Royals bypassed for the job. I mean that was a HUGE warning sign there. Sox need to go back to an elder manager even tho Tony didn't work out. Why can't they do some things that are positive? That Burger trade was ridiculous. Nobody can defend that one effectively. I think they will acquire Salvy after the World Series and that will be the start of their rejuvenation (in their minds). I'm assuming Beni is another player who cares so they'll have Salvy and Beni changing the attitude. They'll get rid of TA in their one blockbuster and believe it or not keep Elvis around in case they can't find somebody decent to replace TA. Elvis wound up hitting .250 and he'll be the emergency candidate at SS if TA is shipped. Elvis also has a good attitude allegedly. So Salvy, Beni and Elvis will try to awaken Robert's full potential and help out Vaughn and Sheets and that new catcher we got who can't hit, as well who can sub for Salvy at times. In conclusion as much as I'd love Jerry to sell the team for some reason he wants to be the scorn of Chicago and keep the club. The goodwill of 2005 is gone unfortunately because of this terrible season to go with last season's Tony debacle.
  23. Congrats Reinsdorf. You owe something to the fans. This season was an utter disgrace. The Chicago White Sox were unwatchable, thus 100 losses. Somehow you have two big leaguers among your everyday players (Robert, Anderson) and you have one MLB pitcher among your everyday pitchers (Clevinger). Cease was a joke this season,. And you have nobody who would be considered an exceptional fielder. Maybe one in Robert. You owe an apology to any fan who paid for tickets for five or more games. You should get them free parking passes at the minimum for next season. The White Sox cannot play modern baseball, that is for sure. They won't draw walks at the plate. Their lift angle while trying to hit HRs every at bat is not acceptable. They do a nice job of waving at strike three in the dirt though. And their defense is abysmal. Everyone involved with the organization deserves a grade of F. 100 losses. Wow.
  24. I hate to defend Burger so much since I was so against drafting a then-pudgy bad fielding third baseman out of Mo. State. But he is amazing. And trading him was so wrong. You dump Moncada and keep Burger. Geez that was a bad trade. He actually was one guy we could have penciled in at 3B for the next 10 years. Instead, he gawn. Ridiculous.
