It's not just raw pitch count, it's also the number of "ups" Even someone more stretched out would typically need more than 2 days rest to go for a 4th inning

I'd expect Gonzo to be the move for Murakami, as he needs more seasoning and there won't be LH at bats available at 1B anymore. He's also 0 for his last 20 facing primarily favorable platoon matchups, while Acuna is 9 for his last 21. I really think people misdiagnose both the roster reasons why Acuna survives and the player archetype it would take to displace him if that's what you want.

Vargas' 3 pitch K with 2 on in the 5th was also a killer. Montero shut them down at home a couple weeks ago, so it doesn't get easier tomorrow.

He's actually really good at getting production out of his pinch hit decisions.

He's only there 10-15% of the time with a healthy roster, mostly on Mune DH days, maybe takes a little stress off the back too. But Mune is out and they've faced a run of LH starters, so it is what it is. Hopefully we get more specifics on Mune's timeline on Monday.

I'd argue Colson is actually the best 3B on the team (he's also the best SS on the team). Vargas is the best 1B on the team with Mune out, and the only one you want starting vs. LHP.

Sandlin last pitched on the 14th for Charlotte (6 IP, 2 ER). He was optioned on the 9th, so he would be eligible for a recall tomorrow. Might matter, might not.
