King throws sinker/changeup/sweeper/4seam with an occasional slider. The fastballs are mid, but the other stuff is plus. He hasn’t given up much in two home starts vs. DET and SEA (2 runs total), but probably should have been punished more for 6 walks and 3 hit batters in 11 innings. He’s gotten lucky against lefties, allowing a .454 OPS to LHB that’s carried by an unsustainably low .163 BABIP. Not historically a reverse splits guy, so maybe the Sox can dish out some regression. SD will have their Plan A pen arms available, so scratching out a couple against King is likely their best chance.
