  1. Barons are 20-2 in their last 22 games. Schweitzer 4IP scoreless in bulk relief. He has a 0 ERA in 24.2 IP in Birmingham, but really struggled in Charlotte.
  2. Davitt has a nice curveball and is a quick worker. Retired his first 14 in order and was through 6 scoreless on an efficient pitch count before a single > walk > sac bunt got him pulled.
  3. Zavala's been heating up lately. .270/.415/.365 in July, 3 doubles and this HR in his last 5 games
  4. A ball debuts for 2025 picks DePino (1B, batting 3rd), Shelton (2B, batting 5th), and Brown (CF, batting 9th)
  5. 3B Anthony DePino (7th round), OF Ely Brown (12th round), SS Colby Shelton (6th round) to Kannapolis SS Kyle Lodise (3rd round) to WS
  6. Not the first communication issue Liam has voiced with Boston. Early in the season he said he didn't like not knowing his role/usage. Then he got injured shortly after being asked to cover a two inning outing, which he said he had been told in ST wouldn't be asked of him. The injury was initially diagnosed as a hernia, but after a setback in rehab is now being called an abdominal strain. He always did have a way with words:
  7. Houser's Rays debut: 5.2IP, 5ER (season high), 11H (ties career high), 1 BB, 3K. I assume some of it is rust from skipping a turn, but apparently TB fans are having Manzardo for Civale flashbacks already...same division and everything. Also ironic given Civale's recent performance here.
  8. I hope "shoulder discomfort" isn't something more serious, but it's not like the warning signs weren't there...
  9. Houser hadn't given up a HR to a RH hitter this season, but just gave one up to Jo Adell six batters into his Rays debut.
  10. Both low slot, high extension guys, the Katz/Bannister specialty.
  11. Us losing Vargas (and them getting back Trout) was a big swing in this one too. Lineup is longer with Miggy at 1B and Sosa and 2B instead of Rojas. Baldwin/Colson/Sosa/Vargas infield should actually be pretty productive if Brooks keeps hitting. Hopefully Mead can get acclimated quickly and be ready to start in Seattle.
  12. Yep. Benny hit one 400ft but to the wrong part of the park. Sosa also missed one by a foot or two, couple hard liners from Teel and Luis, etc. It happens. Keep swinging it like they have been and they'll be alright more often than not.
  13. Kid's making the minimum with a couple more prearb years. Rough stuff.
