Opening Day 26-Man Roster
Since Getz likely knew he was going to cut Colas all along, perhaps he did go after Canario when the Cubs DFA him? Once Getz found out the Mets were offering cash considerations for Canario, it only took one look from Jerry for Getz to know the conversation was over. But at least Getz managed to get a player for Colas. If Greg Jones was a starting player, stayed healthy all season, and got enough plate appearances, he’d probably steal away the single season strikeout record (223) from Mark Reynolds.

Opening Day 26-Man Roster
It’s horrible. An expansion team would have started the season with a better roster. Count how many players on the Sox roster could be considered 26th men, hell, more like 27th men for doubleheaders.

Sox Spring Training notes
It’s bad enough they stole away Anderson and Moncada but now they’ve stolen our star longman… “Angels signed RHP Touki Toussaint to a minor league contract.”

Bartolo’s bunghole has never had sources. Guy has been playing the fake insider game for years since the Chicago foodies started getting all of the attention.

Has a Rule 5 draft pick ever made a team’s rotation to start the season before?

The scouting report that WE posted said he can basically only hit fastballs, meaning he will never see one in the majors. Which makes sense considering his 35% strikeout rate. Plus, he’s already 27 so it’s unlikely he’s just going to figure it out all of a sudden. This guy is a turd.- Colas DFA'd. Greg Jones claimed

I doubt this guy needs to be snuck anywhere.- Opening Day 26-Man Roster
How does a 35% strikeout rate in the minors translate to the majors? I don’t know but I’m sure it will be fun to find out. 🤣- Opening Day 26-Man Roster
Also 148 strikeouts in those 89 games and 417 plate appearances. Guy is a freaking wind tunnel.- Colas DFA'd. Greg Jones claimed
Yes, I know. I am saying the Sox should have swung a deal for him first. The Mets only gave up cash.- Alexander Canario
And the posters who told me that Getz and the Sox didn’t like Canario cuz he strikes out too much so his bat likely wouldn’t play in the majors. Check out Jones’ strikeout rate. 🤣- Colas DFA'd. Greg Jones claimed
He was DFA by the Cubs already. We could have cut Colas for him back then instead of waiting to dump him for this loser.- Colas DFA'd. Greg Jones claimed
So Getz didn’t want Canario cuz he strikes out too much. Meanwhile, Jones looks like the Tasmanian Devil swinging a bat compared to Canario. Awful. Getz continues to be absolutely clueless.- Opening Day Thursday 3:10 p.m. versus Angels (not the game thread, lol) Who's going???
Only if you would have been the GM.- Alexander Canario
Taylor makes sense since he can cover CF. Slater fills the same role as Canario — righty corner outfielder that hits lefties.- Alexander Canario
I have no doubt Hahn would’ve nabbed Canario the first time he was DFA. Let’s see if Getz wises up this time. It’s not like the Sox have a glut of OF prospects, but we sure have a lot of crusty veterans…- Alexander Canario
Cubs needed a roster spot when they signed Justin Turner. Still considered a questionable move.- Alexander Canario
It would have to be someone on the 40-man roster so Jankowski wouldn’t apply as he’s just a NRI. I also doubt Getz would want to cut any of Taylor, Tauchman, and Slater because he spend around $6 million combined on them — chump change for real teams but too much to cut for the Sox. But one of Colas or Fletcher would make sense, and I think we know which of the two the Sox don’t seem to care much for anymore. At least Fletcher can play some defense in all three outfield spots if needed.- Alexander Canario
Yes, although a few frequent posters ardently disagreed with me because he simply isn’t good enough for the Sox roster and we already have Tauchman (34) and Slater (32) that do squat for this team. This kid is a full decade younger than our primary starting RF. 🤣 Would be hilarious if it actually happens now. Your point stands — even if Canario sucks, “you literally have nothing to lose.”- Moniak
Per the MLB Trade Rumors comments section (shady ass source, I know)… https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2025/03/mets-likely-to-remove-alexander-canario-from-40-man-roster.html “Alan53 March 25, 2025 Chicago media are saying the White Sox are set to get him.“ “Attystephenadams March 25, 2025 There’s a reason why the Mets picked him up for just cash from the Cubs. Most likely he’ll just be a waiver claim by the White Sox. The Mets would be most fortunate to get a low level prospect for him in a trade.”- Moniak
