  1. I wouldn’t tell him his children need therapy. In any case, I doubt Scholtens would beat up a senior citizen.
  2. From reading about Lord Meidroth’s scouting reports, it really sounds like he would fit better at 2B than SS. Which is fine. Even if his defense is average at 2B, his bat may make him a 3-4 WAR player. Mini-Pedroia perhaps? Did @Chicago White Sox buy his jersey yet?
  3. So freaking brutal… 61. Keaschall
  4. Al Harris as well. https://www.windycitygridiron.com/2025/1/24/24351411/chicago-bears-hire-al-harris-defensive-pass-game-coordinator-antwaan-randle-el-wide-receiver
  5. With as many cash considerations deals as Getz has made since he was promoted to GM, it sure seems like he was seeking them out. Jerry must love him.
  6. Technically, you were only off by a week, Nostradamus.
  7. The Pirates should win the auction and then give the kid everything they offered him for the card initially.
  8. The White Sox usual pitcher injury timeline… He’s fine and anticipated to be ready for the start of Spring Training… He had a setback and may be held back for the start of Spring Training… He is still having discomfort after a cortisone shot… He needs TJ surgery…
  9. That’s why they acquire 10 starters. The Sox can’t afford to do that unfortunately. Like SS2K5 mentioned, the running theme with this organization appears to be — if you don’t hear anything about a pitcher’s status, it’s probably bad news.
  10. Now it all makes sense, sadly.
  11. So it begins… And SS2K5 just called it a couple days ago.
  12. That’s when Jerry steps in and gives Getzy the nod to sign a superstar free agent for $500+ million. 😏
  13. Serviceable means helpful or useful. Scholten’s production, or lack thereof, puts him in DFA territory.
  14. You didn’t label Scholtens as just “depth”. You called him “a serviceable arm”. I showed stats that would indicate that he is a substandard arm.
  15. A bit ridiculous for Montgomery to be at #39 and for Quero to miss the list altogether.
  16. I don’t see it happening but if they sign Bregman and somehow manage to re-sign Tucker next offseason, Ricketts might actually win back some Cubs fans. But I think signing Bregman would kill any chances of the Cubs re-signing Tucker next offseason.
  17. Definitely a better hitter than Tim Anderson…
  18. I call a spade a spade. Go look back at my posts once Crochet was traded. I gave Getz a ton of credit for a great trade. But my praise is few and far between because the majority of Getz’s moves have been poor.
  19. Apparently Getz doesn’t realize this but old, bad veterans seeking bounce-back years usually sign cheaply with crappy teams to get playing time.
  20. Getz could have brought back Seby’s studly ass if he wanted to. He was DFA by the Mariners twice last season and no other team claimed him. The Red Sox signed him to a minor league deal in November.
  21. Serviceable? As a starter in 11 starts, Scholtens put up the following numbers: 0-6 record 5.87 ERA 1.66 WHIP 53.2 IP 71 hits (10 HR) 38 strikeouts 18 walks The dude is putrid.
  22. Haha, cash considerations. Jerry’s favorite. The cynical side of me says that they DFA Marinaccio over Scholtens because they knew they could get something for Marinaccio (e.g., cash). I know it’s just a minor move but I see no way that keeping Scholtens over Marinaccio makes your bullpen better. And if someone wants to argue that the Sox will need a terrible arm to throw a lot of innings as a long man in garbage time, just bring back Touki. He’s a free agent.
