QUOTE (Y2HH @ May 23, 2008 -> 01:37 PM) I get regular coffee at *$ all the time, I like extra strong coffee like that. And a large at DD where I work costs 1.97 with tax, though I have seen it somewhat more expensive by 10-20 cents at other DD's. That's pretty much all I get there (and the classic coffee cake, which is awesome). I think the venti will top out at about 1.98, but the DD is bigger.

QUOTE (shipps @ May 23, 2008 -> 12:58 PM) A large coffee at DD is like 2.50 which is half the price of Starbucks. Not for a "coffee" at Starbucks, depending on the roast I think you can get any size of "coffee" at Starbucks for under $2.00. Now, the large at DD is bigger than Starbucks venti and speciality drinks do clock in at about 4.50-5.00

QUOTE (SpringfieldFan @ May 23, 2008 -> 07:40 AM) I drink practically everything. Got Folger's right now, but my favorite is probably Caribou Coffee French Roast. However, a coworker and I look up the highest rated coffees at coffeereview.com and order them online. Those are in such a different league and taste so different you might either love them or hate them. You can also buy raw green beans and roasted them in an air popcorn popper, which is great if you want to save money these days, too. Oh yeah, gotta say - black with sugar please. SFF I take mine black all the time (no need for Airplane! jokes!!!)

QUOTE (shipps @ May 23, 2008 -> 08:26 AM) I love coffee just as much as the next person but six cups a day cant be healthy. my dad does probably the same thing. The man drinks coffee with everything and at any time of day. I can't drink it much after 4 or 5 or it keeps me up

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ May 23, 2008 -> 07:11 AM) I'm guilty of being a liberal, Starbucks' drinking, Prius driving, elitist...minus the Prius. I typically buy Starbucks whole beans and grind them at home. Occasionally I'll buy fair trade beans from South America or Africa. I usually get Maxwell House for the AM at home. Then I get a cup of Starbucks or Caribou at lunch. One exception is I get the Christmas Blend from Starbucks for home when available. It is my favorite blend. Also, the new "pike's place" roast from starbucks is excellent

QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ May 22, 2008 -> 02:49 PM) BP's take on the Sox... awesome, thanks for posting that. I know they weren't high on the Sox at the beginning of the year, good to see an update. I am kicking myself, when I was in Vegas for the NCAA tournament the Sox over/under was 77 wins. I thought, objecively, they would be around .500. I know things can do a 180 quickly, but that's a solid bet I should have thrown some money down on

QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ May 21, 2008 -> 11:56 PM) Monday is technically the first day I say you should look at the standings, but I heard Stoney say we are 3 up in the loss column on Minny, 4 on Cleveland. Nice. I'm with you on this. It drives me crazy when the Cubs, both TV and Radio, scoreboard watch starting in early April. Unfortunately, the Sox announcers have been doing some it this year too. The schedule has been crazy, especially with only 9 home games in May. This is a great way to fight through this.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 20, 2008 -> 04:54 PM) 62nd round. as a favor to Lasorda since it was his Godchild or at least a son of his friend -
QUOTE (BigSqwert @ May 20, 2008 -> 12:50 PM) Agreed. I think it would be foolish to have 2 freshman Senators running on the same ticket. I'd prefer a Governor on the ticket or even Bloomberg. the only issue with that, and let me stress before I say this THIS IS NOT MY OPINION ON THE MATTER!!!!, is he is Jewish and after hearing some of the press reports from WV, I don't know how far an African-American and a person of the Jewish faith can go in certain voters minds. AGAIN, I DO NOT FEEL THIS WAY. If it is Obama/McCain I have not decided who I would vote for and certainly a persons religion would not weigh on my decision. I just feel there are certain people in this country, and I'm not limiting to one section or another, small minded people are everywhere, who wouldn't vote for that ticket

Piazza put up some crazy numbers from the catchers position http://www.baseball-reference.com/p/piazzmi01.shtml That 185 OPS+ in 97 is sick. Obviously his defense left a lot to be desired, but this guy is a HOF. He is most definitely a fantasy HOF'er, he was easily the consesus #1 pick in the mid 90's, the advantage he gave over other catchers in the league was crazy -
I'll go Penn over Sherk 4th round submission and Wand over the Dean of Mean 2nd round TKO (that pick is from the heart, see if it holds). Toughest call is on Machida vs. Ortiz. Machida is extremely talented, but Tito is a big 205 with quality wrestling and ground game. Machida has beat Franklin and Penn, but both those guys are smaller than Ortiz, although Franklin has fought at 205 before and may in the future. It is going to come down to Machida's takedown defense and ability to standup or get dominant position on the ground. Ultimately I will go with Machida.

QUOTE (The Critic @ May 19, 2008 -> 03:37 PM) Holy f***, that hamstring tear is UGLY. yeah, and there is talk he'll fight in the fall!! http://www.mmaweekly.com/absolutenm/templa...8&zoneid=14 that's the updated card for 85. They put Hughes on against Alves who is an up and coming fighter in that division. That is not an easy fight for Hughes and all, and I would actually pick Alves. Hughes next fight will likely be against Serra, win or lose for Hughes in this fight, there is still $$ in the Serra fight

UFC on Saturday should be good. Sherk v. Penn, Machida v. Ortiz and Wand v. Jardine. Really looking forward to this card. Next few weeks have a lot of good MMA cards. UFC 84 on Saturday, then Elite-XC on CBS on the 31st, WEC headlined by Faber v. Pulver June 1st on Vs., a quick turnaround for the UFC with 85 on the 7th of June from London.

QUOTE (daa84 @ May 16, 2008 -> 09:17 AM) my gf thinks im a jerk, but good god i am so glad jim didnt end up proposing to pam...i was so happy..here i am thinking the office is going all "romantic" on me, and poof what happens....the hilarity of andy proposing to angela instead of jim to pam...props to the writers for choosing humor over romance.... It will be interesting because the Office hasn't done traditional "cliffhangers" where everything is frozen in time until the fall and then pick up where they left off. Usually they start a new season as if 3-4 months passed. So whatever happens with Pam and Jim would have happened already. It was a solid finale and looking forward to next season

The game against the Sox was the first time I've seen him in a game this year, outside of the clips on BBTN, etc..., and he looks every bit as bad as advertised. Farmer and Stone were talking about how bad he looked and how the Giants were lucky to still be in that game, even Hawk and DJ weren't spinning it

I know many people are annoyed by him, but he truly is the definition of someone who loves what he does Absolutely LOVE Manny. I can't stand anything Red Sox or Indians and those are the only two teams he's played on of course, but I love that guy. The best right handed hitter I've ever seen behind Frank (and even that is close), and he's just on his own planet with how bat s*** crazy he is. BBTN did like a 2 minute segment of Manny being Manny, it brought all the classics back, indluding my favorite when he cut off Damon's through from the wall when he was in about the middle of the outfield and had to dive to do it. It was the best 2 minutes ESPN has produced in years

QUOTE (Mplssoxfan @ May 16, 2008 -> 12:54 PM) I'm a little late, and I hope you haven't gone in yet. Whatever you do, do not go in either drunk or smelling of liquor. That means that you shouldn't have one last fling the night before you surrender. If you want to have that one last fling, do it a couple of nights before. If you only have to serve 10 days of a longer suspended sentence, you run the chance that the suspension will be revoked and you have to serve the entire sentence. Also they can deny your entry to jail and the state can file an escape charge equal to the level of crime you pled to. So yeah, don't drink for days before going in. You wouldn't believe what I've seen people blow on a breath test in court

QUOTE (klaus kinski @ May 16, 2008 -> 12:25 PM) If Borass isnt worried, I'm not With what Boras got Andruw Jones this offseason, I would doubt he worries about very little other than if his deal with the devil is still valid

QUOTE (Mplssoxfan @ May 15, 2008 -> 11:39 AM) Rickey was, quite simply, the greatest leadoff hitter in history. There are some fantastic stories about him, too. Apparently, he used to take his meal money and put it in envelopes. He'd take those envelopes home and put them in a box, and when one of his daughters warranted a reward for some reason (grades being one, IIRC), he'd get out the box and let them take an envelope. There's another story about a large check that didn't clear the bank for weeks. The ballclub was concerned and called Rickey's agent to inform him that there was no record of the check clearing. Turns out that Rickey had had the check framed and it was hanging on his wall in his living room. I heard his name secret name for hotels was "Rick" Henderson He wouldn't give a seat up to Tony Gwynn even when someone said Gwynn had tenure because "Ricky has 'twenty-year'"

Very good win tonight. Overcame an error and JD not getting AJ in. I really like that Bobby has been featuring his FB more lately.

for my I-Pod I didn't know any better and went through my CDs and only put my favorites of an album on there (subsequently I realized I could have put them all on and just created a massive playlist of my favorites). Some albums are on whole, (All the Bad Religion albums, the first Weezer, and probably about 20-30 others). Some day i will rectify my mistake and put all my entire CDs on there. 1361 is the count on my I-Pod plus one video, the awesome aerobic class inspired "Call on Me" video

I usually drink diet pepsi, but will drink diet coke and I won't be insane about it. If I have a regular soda I prefer pepsi out of the can and coke out of a fountain

QUOTE (heirdog @ May 15, 2008 -> 09:52 AM) 2 things that bode well for his next start on Saturday: 1) Facing the SF offense 2) Matched up with Barry Zito, who's been even worse than him this year... The problem for Mark this year has been location and getting key outs when he's needed them. He will always give up a bunch of hits (save the no-hitter last year) but that young and somewhat anemic SF line-up should help his confidence in locating his cutter to both sides of the plate and not worrying about missing the perfect spot. Similarly, maybe we can get a big lead off Zito and further give Buehrle the confidence that he doesn't need to make perfect pitches with a big cushion. I see the old typical Buehrle-esque start upcoming with a CG, 1 ER, 8 hits, 1 BB, and done in about 2 hrs 47 min (mostly due to the White Sox scoring 5). when they were going over the pitcing matchups and heard the Sox would be facing Zito it interested me to no end. That should be an interesting game since the Sox have a record of making soft tossing lefties look awesome no matter how bad they are or are going, but Zito has been horrible this year. I really think I may lose my mind if Zito "finds it" against the Sox. I don't even think the Hawk could put a positive spin on the Sox getting shut down by Zito
