Rumor: Hillary Clinton to Concede Dem Nomination
SoxFan562004 replied to BigSqwert's topic in The Filibuster
QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jun 3, 2008 -> 10:55 AM) If you read the details, it is true, but also not true. She will concede that he has the delegates and has clinched the win - because he will, so she has to. Heck, McAuliffe even acknowledged it. But, also, she will continue to campaign, for reasons that (IMO) can only be construed as her furthering her 2012 campaign chances. yeah, I had an extra minute and read it and the link I put on above is basically saying the same thing. Well, that's just sad. -

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jun 3, 2008 -> 10:51 AM) That'd be more in line with what that moron has been doing thus far. But I saw on drudge that Obama is getting a ton of supers today, so it might be a moot point http://www.politico.com/news/stories/0608/10792.html -
QUOTE (soxfan3530 @ Jun 3, 2008 -> 09:56 AM) doesn't look good for this game. Looks like big storms heading this way.... http://www.weather.com/outlook/events/mlb/...?eventid=242194 shows 80% chance of rain for gametime. If anyone is going I would check a few spots before I left. This may be one of the games they cancel well before gametime

Rumor: Hillary Clinton to Concede Dem Nomination

posted this in the Obama thread, but cnn.com has a story from Clinton's camp saying it's not true and she intends to continue -
would I be suspended if I brought up a certain lyric from the Wizard of Oz regarding the announcement that is likely coming today? well now, I might have been jumping the gun. On cnn.com there's a story saying Clinton's camp is saying she won't concede tonight. Atta, can we get a delegate count? I saw that there has been a flood of supers to Barak today

Ahmadinejad: Israel will "soon disappear"
SoxFan562004 replied to Flash Tizzle's topic in The Filibuster
I've seen a couple brief headlines and news clips saying that he isn't really popular with the Iranian people. Is there any truth to that? -
I also like the e-mail that ignores all the cult mass murders and abortion dr. killings that christians did in the name of christianity

great find, thanks for posting. Hopefully this info pans out this month when the Sox play a lot of games at the Cell. He has had a good approach at the plate and has hit some line drives ,so it's good to see stats backing up my eyes.

QUOTE (DrunkBomber @ Jun 2, 2008 -> 04:11 PM) Was that the Pulver/Faber fight? Yeah, that was the main event and the bantamweight title fight was awesome too. Faber showed a whole new side of his game and Pulver showed an insane amount of toughness. Just my two cents on the whole Kimbo thing... it is what it is. I see all sides of the arguments, especially if the Ref stopped it because of his ear he should of had a doctor look at it like a cut. The real thing that came out of it is Kimbo is nowhere near ready to face any top competition. James Thompson is an impressive physical specimen, but he's not really a top MMA heavyweight. His biggest win was against a washed up Don Frye and he had lost x2 before the kimbo fight. Aleks Emelianenko beat him in 11 seconds and he lost to butterbean. http://www.sherdog.com/fightfinder/fightfi...?FighterID=6721 It's an interesting thing to watch, but he is just like the freak show fights PRIDE use to have. the Affliction PPV is going to have some great heavywight MMA fights and the Big Nog/Mir fight is going to be a quality bout.

If anyone sees the replay for the WEC card from Vs. last night you should watch it. The last two fights are awesome.

drudgereport.com has a bunch of stories up hinting that Hill is going to end it tomorrow

It may be a little over the top, but I was glad to read the quotes by Ozzie. The pitching on this team has been awesome and the hitting a joke (save a few players). I'm glad he's doing this at this point when they are still in 1st place and not when they're 5 or 6 games out. I was tired of all the protecting of everyone on this team. The whole "look at the back of his baseball card" thing was getting old. Some of these guys haven't hit with any consistnecy for a year and a half and treating some of the vetrans and Walker with kid gloves was getting old.

Democratic Rules and Bylaws Committee

QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ May 31, 2008 -> 04:58 PM) 69-59 with their votes counted as half. PS: One member is RIPPING Ickes apart for his "hijack" comments. thanks for you help guys, this stuff is complicated and I haven't read up much on it, it's great to have you guys fill in the blanks... I assume if that MI goes through that doesn't help Hill at all and is pretty much a wash. It ups the needed delegates though, right? -

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 31, 2008 -> 04:53 PM) Pretty much everyone knew roughly what was going to happen with Florida. Her "Last shred" of hope was to get the entire michigan delegation seated for her while simultaneously giving none of the uncommitted delegates to Obama, which was never going to happen. is there a current expectation for MI? -

QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ May 31, 2008 -> 05:42 PM) RBC officially accepts the proposal that FL seats ALL delegates, but they count as half. All superdelegates count as half as well. For: 27 Against: 0 Delegate Allocation Clinton: 52.5 Obama:33.5 Edwards: 6.5 so what's the impact of that? Was that Hill's one last shred of hope? -
Hull, Mikita & Espo at the Cubs game
SoxFan562004 replied to The Critic's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ May 30, 2008 -> 03:05 PM) Haha, it was horrible or Hull was at least. So much faster than the crowd, it was hysterical. Then, all Hull talked about during his on-air time was his wife's b-day. damn, with that wind Hull must of had his piece on extra tight. Too bad he wasn't next to Santo, that would have been something to see -
Bulls do not hire Doug Collins as head coach
SoxFan562004 replied to thedoctor's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
QUOTE (fathom @ May 30, 2008 -> 01:55 PM) Face it, we're just setting the state for Chrissy Collins to take over the Bulls. you may be right, I guess on TNT last night Doug said he wasn't interested in coaching until he talked to Chris and he talked him into coaching again. -
QUOTE (fathom @ May 30, 2008 -> 03:13 PM) That's very true...I was thinking that about Thome the other day. We're just not used to seeing players actually decline in their 35-40's. yeah, and his OPS + and RC/G have still been OK even in his decline, I think he should contribute all year, but not at the level he has in the past
-
QUOTE (fathom @ May 30, 2008 -> 03:12 PM) Mulder's career is likely over. As a Cubs hater, you should hope he doesn't return. I still think the Astros are the best bet to hang around, but I still see the Cubs as the clear cut top team in the NL Central. damn, didn't know that about mulder, that is too bad. Oh yeah, I agree, they are the best in the Central, but we shall see!!
-
QUOTE (fathom @ May 30, 2008 -> 03:11 PM) I guess it's just really peculiar timing then that his numbers went way down after the .2004 season. I see your point and it will be so hard to judge that issue looking back. In Helton's defense, they did start using the humidor balls which I believe did impact overall numbers at Coors and he is getting older. That will be something a lot of younger fans haven't seen, players getting older and their gradual decline
-
I credit the Cardinals for hanging around like they have. If Mulder and/or Carpenter can give them anything when they come back they'll make it a race for the entire season
-
QUOTE (Brian @ May 30, 2008 -> 03:02 PM) It would make it worth while if Wood blows this. And with as many sliders as Marmol throws, I wouldn't be surprised if he went down at some point. Atkins GIDP with a 3-1 count and helton flies out

QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ May 30, 2008 -> 02:49 PM) No video yet, but a screen cap... OK, I know that is a horrible quality picture and I haven't seen the video, but that looks extremely fake to me

QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ May 30, 2008 -> 02:05 PM) i do not understand this poll that you post, according to Hill, Obama can't beat mccain
