Helluva game in Anahiem
QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 2, 2005 -> 12:15 AM) Here's the Kay/Juan Rivera story: In a recent Angels/Yankees game, Derek Jeter robbed Juan Rivera of a hit. For the next 3 innings, Kay talked about how it was sweet justice against the guy whole stole his stuff when he was on the Yankees. Kay went out of his way to bash Rivera. Here's the thing....it was Ruben Rivera that stole stuff from the Yankees locker room, and not Juan Rivera. How the f*** do you screw that up? Hell, I'd say 90% of this board knew it was Ruben Rivera, how does Michael Kay, a man so close to the Yankees, confuse the two?

Tyson Chandler Re-signs
QUOTE(Pale Hose Jon @ Sep 1, 2005 -> 11:39 PM) Over 10 million a year, that's rediculas, you might as well keep that money and sign several guys. By the end of this deal, he better be worth that money. The only thing that is ridiculous is your spelling of the word ridiculous. About damn time I get to correct someones spelling.

QUOTE(SoxFan562004 @ Sep 1, 2005 -> 12:59 AM) fathom, you're a solid poster but this should be in green right? I mean Anderson and Iguchi won the Seattle game on Friday and Bmac and Jenks combined for a CG SO of the Texas @ Texas, both games during a downturn... those are big in my book = green

how we learned to stop worrying and love fathom
QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Sep 1, 2005 -> 12:49 AM) Just to add to this thread, I love fathom too And, I don't know if this even means anything at all, but why the hell not... 2004 White Sox August - 12-17 Sept/Oct - 19-13 Ross Gload hit .403 with 4 HRs and a 1.133 OPS in 67 ABs last September. He could be SO huge for this team down the stretch, it's not even funny.

QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 1, 2005 -> 12:44 AM) Well, the last few days, I've taken a step back and looked at the big picture. What I see is a 2005 team that completely overachieved in the first half of the season, and is now slumping heading down the stretch. In reality, this is about a 85-90 win team. I'm just grateful that we have meaningful games for the rest of the regular season, and quite possibly the playoffs. I said this a month ago before the slump, but this Sox team being in the position they've been all season is the greatest sports surprise of my life so far (by greatest, I mean best). You look at the Cubs roster, and they're much more talented than the Sox. However, their season is already over, and the rest of the season is meaningless. How fun was it for the handful of us following the Indians game tonight? I agree 100%. Hell just the fact that we get to watch THIS TEAM play meaningful games this late in the season is so unbelievable. Watching the Indians game today was great, the games have more meaning, you can actually watch other games with intent because they directly affect the Sox.

QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 1, 2005 -> 12:37 AM) How's this for a prediction: The 2007 White Sox team is the year we're building towards, and this year happened as a fluke. While we've had a great season so far, I don't think this team has enough to win the World Series. However, our team in 2007 should give us another great chance at competing for the World Series. You're scaring the s*** out of me. I'm actually enjoying reading your posts.

sox, cubs talking today?
QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 31, 2005 -> 11:34 PM) Sweeney or Young. Owens wouldn't have been enough. I was thinking someone like Honel would have been in the deal. I was thinking Owens + a lower tier pitching prospect would have been enough. But yeah Sweeney and Young would be the two most likely traded.

sox, cubs talking today?
QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 31, 2005 -> 11:31 PM) Well, now that it's over, I can say this: I'm happy we didn't trade for Walker. Knowing the way Hendry is, I have a feeling we would have been very upset with who we had to give up to get a rental player. Sweeney/Young/Owens. Take your pick they'd be in the Cubs system tomorrow had we gotten walker.

sox, cubs talking today?
It's over, finally. No more speculation. I feel relieved and rejuvenated, yet at the same time I feel sick to my stomach that we couldn't get anything done.

September Boost
QUOTE(3E8 @ Aug 31, 2005 -> 11:12 PM) Timo > Blum offensively. 'Nuff said. You're bias though. What happened to the Timo sig? I spent weeks working on that masterpiece and now you just disgard it? I'm hurt.

Geoff Blum has a hit or more in 9 of his last 12 games. Why so much hate for this man from everyone? He's just about the least of our problems.

QUOTE(SleepyWhiteSox @ Aug 31, 2005 -> 11:05 PM) So what was this thread originally about? How KW failed us if we don't pick up another bat. Which we didn't.
