Prospects of the Month - August/Sept 2014
QUOTE (Stan Bahnsen @ Sep 5, 2014 -> 12:42 PM) Really excited to see how fast Alvarez can move next year. I imagine they'll be aggressive with him. Will be an interesting follow. Considering he didn't pick up a bat for 3 1/2 yrs in March , what he's done is amazing.

9/5 at Indians
QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Sep 5, 2014 -> 07:06 PM) Missed it, what happened Eaton got a bunt single . Leury sac bunt got him to 2nd so with 1st base open they walked Abreu .

9/5 at Indians
Cleto more than 1 inning ? Really ? Got lucky with him getting through 1 so easy.

Seems like Hawk says "He got a cookie and couldn't do anything with it" for Tank more than anyone.

2015 Offseason
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 5, 2014 -> 09:32 AM) But then you'd check the age line, realize he's going to be 37 next year, and think "hey, that dramatically increases the chances of failure too". Yep which is why I also looked at the splits because of his age. Hard to see a precipitous drop off in his numbers though after such a good season. However 2 years w/ an option for a 3rd. is the most I would offer and that probably won't cut it.

2015 Offseason
QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Sep 5, 2014 -> 08:06 AM) V-Mart for four (or more) years seems like a big mistake. I'd hate to see them go more than three. The idea of a VMart hitter at DH is very good . However the only VMart type hitter is VMart. I checked his splits and he's killed, Twins, Royals and Indians. Just the kind of guy we need, strong LH bat that kills division foes. If I was paid by the Sox to do research that's what I'd be looking for, an American League LH who hits very well against our division to lessen the chance of failure.

Daily Recaps in review
Truly great job on everything . I also go over box scores but still read recaps. Also appreciate the player of the month stuff as it is quite extensive. Just great work by everyone.

Gillaspie vs. Flowers
QUOTE (scs787 @ Sep 4, 2014 -> 01:11 PM) C'mon now....Who prior to Semien getting called up could have platooned with Gillaspie? Lets not throw stones at Robin for not platooning him when Leury Garcia was his backup infielder. Beckham . But seems as if the Sox didn't want him playing anywhere but 2nd base . In hindsight maybe he'll have more value as an infielder who can play 3rd, SS and 2nd base. Maybe once it became apparent that Conor raked against righties they wanted to give him an opportunity to improve against lefties. Also could be Conor is trying to hit for more power in the 2nd half knowing his batting average can take a bit of a hit if he struggled. I'd love for him to start hitting again though and finish above .300 .

Flowers and his magic glasses
QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 29, 2014 -> 11:33 PM) Somebody should write a poem about Tyler Flowers and his up and down season. Roses are red Violets are blue Roses and Violets are flowers But Tyler Flowers is a catcher who wears magic glasses that make him hit better or are our glasses rose colored ?

Dunn traded to Athletics for Nolan Sanburn
QUOTE (chitownsportsfan @ Sep 1, 2014 -> 02:35 PM) it was the Adam Dunnest HR of all time. On 90% of days in the bay area it's a long fly ball out. Ball is carrying well there today. I wish Dunn the best I hope he carries them to the playoffs and retires a champion. 2 for 3 with a HBP, HR , 2 RBI.

3B and LF Situation for 2015
QUOTE (Andy the Clown @ Aug 31, 2014 -> 08:51 PM) I'd like to see Semien playing everyday somewhere...maybe LF? Good God, he is absolutely crushing it in AAA. I actually think that is exactly whats going to happen if the Sox get rid of Tank or put him at DH. A 3 way battle for 2nd base is not ideal. Just too many guys all requiring AB's to prove anything. After he's called up he will be playing a decent amount of OF since that's what he was doing at AAA. How it all works out eventually is still TBD.

Do the Sox have any plans to honor Adam Dunn next week?
QUOTE (sin city sox fan @ Aug 31, 2014 -> 02:38 PM) I'm not being sarcastic at all. As I mentioned in the original post, i don't think he did enough to get his number retired so I'm not advocating that action. However, He had was loved by all his team mates and most of the fans during his time in Chicago. He hit some impressive bombs and even gave his best on the mound when the manager asked him to do so. Not doing something to say "thanks for being a great member of the White Sox organization" would truly give a negative reflection on the team. Why don't you go to one of the games and bring some flowers and a stuffed donkey with you and throw it on the field. Of course the bomb squad might destroy it making sure it's not a weapon of mass destruction but its the thought that counts.

3B and LF Situation for 2015
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 31, 2014 -> 12:41 PM) No chance. Davidson clearly hasn't earned it. I still think Conor can be an average to good defensive 3rd baseman. There's a 97.654% chance he never plays at all in the outfield. He used an old Robin Ventura glove in today's game. Seems comfortable with it .

Dunn traded to Athletics for Nolan Sanburn
QUOTE (scs787 @ Aug 31, 2014 -> 11:05 AM) Perhaps Hahn wasn't getting what he wanted a month ago....Nothing to base this on at all, but I think the reason it happened on the very last day it could have happened is because Hahn was playing hard ball and the A's finally caved. It happened on the last day because Oakland wanted to pay as little as possible.

The Adam Dunn Appreciation Thread
QUOTE (The Ultimate Champion @ Aug 31, 2014 -> 07:38 AM) Finally, on the very last day of the last trade deadline, your sorry ass is about to be out the door. Phew. What a relief this is for the organization. You have have been the biggest disappointment in Sox FA history. You were a hotdog and anything but a baseball player for the majority of your time here. Good riddance. Let wite & all your other fans say all the positive things they want in the Appreciation thread they will create. That can be a positive place, who cares. This thread is for negativity ONLY! Good riddance and thank God. Someone hasn't had their coffee this morning
