  1. I don't expect to see Kopech or Jimenez until some time after the All Star break. Kopech has a long way to go and Eloy has to make a stop at AAA. We'll see Eloy before Kopech . If the Sox want to get innings from a starter Rodon will be coming back and RA Dickey is still a FA. Sign him before some other desperate team does.
  2. His name alone has star written all over it.
  3. Except we all know the Sox record against every team not named Royals. We also know the Sox don't hit very well and have bad home record so far. The Sox also haven't showed any ability to win games late but are pretty good at losing them late. Only hope is the Twins starting pitching has been bad and bullpen probably worse. I have no idea why I'm even saying what the Sox are bad at . Pretty bad at everything so far.
  4. I shudder when thinking of the lineup tonight without Yoan. I also hope it is postponed.
  5. Arenado is a free agent the same year. He gets mentioned all the time.
  6. Most of what I remember about Ozzie Albies was from people here saying he had no power profile. Now look at him and it was only a year ago Albies had no power . It's not so much people have no patience it's more like a mix of scouting reports and performance and best guess to be right. Predicting he hits 25 HRs by his 2nd big league season is just too easy to call out so people stick with the conservative approach saying he is what you see at the moment. When you hit for a high average but no power you get the unsustainable BABIP criticism or the doesn't walk enough critique on a guy who just turned 21. I just marvel at the talent and since I can't watch them play every day I surely cannot get critical of them.
  7. I am over my attachments limits having used quite a few pictures in countdown threads over the years. I went to manage my attachments looking for a way to reduce my percentage so i am under the limit but I couldn't find a way to do that. Is there a way ?
  8. W,ich I already discussed with Fathom a few posts above.
  9. Just a guess here but if waiting till the off season causes him to miss the entire 2019 season then they would do it now. Sorry I can't be more definitive about it but I just don't think the injury will take that long to heal even if surgery is required. I think you better do some research on his injury . No sense saying things about him missing an entire season next year. That's like false info that many some will start using and it shouldn't be out there if is isn't true.
  10. I don't know but it's a given he has to work on it and his command and mound composure. That's why I think he won't be in the bigs until after the all star break . If he has a run of starts maybe 3 or 4 where he goes at least 6 innings and using his change between 10-15% of the time doesn't walk many that's when he will be brought up. He really isn't as close to being called up as some may think.
  11. I was waiting for someone to hit me with the draft pick and it's a legit point, Of course since he came from the Royals the Royals are the only team that could've signed him without the draft pick attached and the hit to the international cap. Even though I thought Moose was worth it as many didn't . I acknowledged in spring training the Sox wouldn't sign him because of the draft pick and the Sox wanted another year of tanking for the draft choices. My thinking was if the Sox signed him then sold him at the deadline there was a good chance he nets more than a the draft pick would've been worth. So you are thinking no chance on Machado playing 3rd and the Sox signing him and Donaldson too old and also will probably have a draft pick attached and Sox won't take the chance of waiting for Arenado or Rendon ?
  12. I think the point is this guy is saying he wanted to be considered as a GM but has never said he is qualified. He is coming off as somewhat of an uninformed unrealistic fan with delusions of a conspiracy theory that this isn't a rebuild but a scam by Reindorf to make money before he sells off the team. That's why many are poking fun . to put it mildly at him.
  13. Why wouldn't he ? It was a 1 year deal designed to get him to free agency next year. It's not like he had much of a choice. I think anyone who offered him maybe $7.5M this year could've had him. No one else wanted him. I will say this though , there's a mutual option for next year for $15M AAV so both have he and the Royals have to agree to it. That can also happen . Chances are probably pretty slim he takes the option if he has another good year.
  14. The Royals signed Moustakas for a base salary of $5.5M and a $1M buyout. Now they will be the ones to flip him when the time comes. Who would you rather have to flip Soria or Moustakas ? Who would you rather have Soria in the bullpen or Moustakas as the every day 3rd baseman ?
  15. Oh and don't forget Kenny Williams and Big Frank didn't get along great either.
  16. What a strange thread. If I had a nickel for every time a Sox player was called a mental midget here on this board. I'd, well, I'd have a shit load of nickels.Black white brown etc everyone gets torched here.
  17. Just goes to show how difficult projecting power is. Many here didn't like Albies because of the perceived lack of power, Now he has 9 HR's and is threatening to tie and break Jermaine Dye's franchise record for most extra base hits in April. My take on projecting power is that if you hit a lot of doubles into gaps or long fly balls down either line that the power will come. That's why I have hope for a guy like Rutherford who many also think won't hit for enough power.
  18. That's just terrible for a major newspaper. Editing ? Proof reader ? Not just the headline but also a few times in the story too.
  19. Yep you rarely see mid/small market guys from bad teams get that honor. You have to be head and shoulders above the rest of the competition to get it if you're on a bad team
  20. He will never have more walks than K's , not even close, as is the case with most players. Joey Votto who takes a very high number of walks has done lt done it only 3 times.
  21. It mean the hitter hit the ball in the air usually to an outfielder that was caught for an out. If was to an infielder it would be a pop out.
  22. Looking on the Sox website at auction on Sox spring training jerseys and Davidson has more bids on his than anyone else, even Moncada. Anderson no bids at all. https://whitesox.auctions.mlb.com/iSynApp/allAuction.action?sid=1102381&promoGroupList[0].strValue1=CWSC&rc=25
