  1. QUOTE (KnightsOnMintSt @ Jul 5, 2017 -> 08:09 AM) Melky has been a guy that I have been thinking about since last season in-terms of a trade. Upped his average to .291 as of late. I think a team like Milwaukee or St. Louis would really benefit from adding Melky. I'm hoping for a top 10 prospect in the system of whoever they trade with for the Melkman. Of course I like him because the Sox have had so few LH productive bats and his strong and accurate arm.
  2. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 5, 2017 -> 05:31 PM) Offensively, sure. Defensively this team has been pretty awful for a while now. DJ is right. A lot of mental mistakes to go along with the bad play. Throwing to wrong bases, throwing through cutoff men, missing situational decision making skills, etc. A lot of stuff is going wrong that isn't showing up in box scores. A great example is the Saturday game against Texas. Melky let's a ball bounce right over his mitt for a 3 run triple. If he gets over and cuts it off, it is a single at best. In the box score it shows up as a three run triple. That ball took a very bad hop away from him. Not his fault at all. I saw it with my eyes right away and the announcers confirmed it saying the same thing. I'm sure there are plenty of other examples of bad D that have shown up in the box score. It's just been pitiful but if you want to use one that didn't show up in the box score ,,,Willy Garcia had a ball lined up to catch it easily but gave way to Engel who had to come a long way. The way Garcia peeled off I have to assume Engel called it and didn't make the play.
  3. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Jul 5, 2017 -> 03:28 PM) This is a great post. Most teams will want a longer track record before paying a high price for Kahnle, but there's always a chance that one front office out there believes in him and thinks one top 50 prospect and change is a steal for 3 1/2 years of an elite reliever. Yep relievers are a hot hot hot commodity for the stretch run. Do not underestimate the importance teams in contention put on them. Kahnle is worth his weight in gold right now.
  4. QUOTE (maxjusttyped @ Jul 5, 2017 -> 04:58 PM) This finally being the year players ~12-25 on the roster aren't complete back holes is ironic considering that's what prevented the Sale/Eaton/Q/Abreu teams from ever really competing. If Leury, Davidson, Yolmer, & Avi were producing like this last year the rebuild likely never happens. I am not bemoaning the trades of Sale or Eaton at all.Just makes you wonder how different things play out in an alternate universe kind of way. I know the whole if Eaton is still here maybe Avi never gets another shot theory. Oh well the Sox would've found a way to screw it up. Even with Sale the starting pitching would still be lacking due to Q's slow start and Rodon's injury.
  5. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 5, 2017 -> 03:21 PM) DJ saying team has lacked focus of late Eh they're just not good. Does lately include the 2 recent walk offs ? They're playing the same way they have all year. Bad starting pitching and always playiing catch up is difficult.
  6. QUOTE (Saladino'sMustache @ Jul 5, 2017 -> 03:09 PM) Make that 6 stolen bases against, 4 of them uncontested Rajai Davis gets 4 stolen bases in a game. Renteria needs to stop bunting and letting our guys attempt steals regardless of the outcome. The kids have to learn and take their lumps if necessary.
  7. Besides the 3 run HR Abreu has made the 3rd out in an inning 4 times today. Statistical oddity.
  8. QUOTE (OmarComing25 @ Jul 4, 2017 -> 01:08 PM) I voted for Swarzak but another question might be who do you think doesn't get traded? I think everyone on that list but Avi/Shields/Abreu/Holland goes. Melky is an August acquisition for someone. Brings up an interesting point. I am not interested so much in who gets traded but how many actually get traded by the deadline. A lot of trades by the deadline seems pretty farfetched I think maybe 4 go by the deadline but even that seems 1 too high for me.
  9. QUOTE (oldsox @ Jul 2, 2017 -> 05:28 PM) Has he earned a call up? He has nothing but solid numbers since he went down to Charlotte. Sure he has . That's what being in the high minors and putting up good numbers is for. Just don't expect it soon. On a side note I'm really sick of his face on the banner.
  10. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jul 3, 2017 -> 02:16 PM) Here is the FutureSox version of the White Sox Prospects of the Month. Also in there are some names who just missed. The pitcher who won is a familiar name to most. The hitter, probably not so much, but you should start getting to know him now. Who would you have picked, if anyone different? Excellent list. It's great to see when prospects emerge . I hope they all can keep it up . Mendick is opening eyes as a guy with speed and defense and now hitting. All those qualities combined is hard to find especially in the minors where defense and hitting are often in the "developmental" stages . The pitching is tremendous. Couldn't have asked for more from the guys under Giolito and Lopez.
  11. Thank you , you also. Go Sox and Murica
  12. Good work. The 2nd half I'd like to see more straight steal attempts especially with 2 outs from Anderson, Hanson, Leury especially ( Sanchez not so much ) I mean it's a rebuild year let them take their base stealing lumps now . They may even learn a few things.. Moncada whenever he comes up. That's a lot of speed and each guy should be capable of the 75% minimum steal rate. There's no reason the Sox as a team can't steal more than 100 bases . I know the steal is #2 to the bunt in ancient baseball tactics but it can get that extra base or 2 without giving up the out.
  13. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 4, 2017 -> 04:07 AM) Saladino played last night for Charlotte, Leury is working out in AZ. Saladino may be there a while.
  14. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 2, 2017 -> 09:12 PM) Find a post of mine burying Avi. Find a post of anybody besides El Rockin praising Avi, expressing confidence in Avi, wanting Avi to be our right fielder this season for any reason besides tanking games. Who on this board actually appreciated Avi's potential before spring training 2017? Probably El Rockin. I seem to recall maybe one Avi fan, not sure if it was Mex or Tex or whom. Maybe one. Me and there were others too. I had protracted discussions with Eminor3 sticking up for Avi.
  15. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Jul 2, 2017 -> 05:13 PM) Wow, not a single World Series champion Cub made the roster. Wade Davis the only the Cub at the moment. Nice to see. Just hope the slump ends with a big 4 hit game.
  16. QUOTE (iamshack @ Jul 2, 2017 -> 02:27 PM) As did Choo's legs being way the f*** outside the baseline... Was ruled a legal slide thus taking Sanchez out was all good . Not sure of the rule but if you have a direct path to the base and don't overslide it I guess you can slide however you want within those parameters.
  17. Why didnt Davidson just step on 3rd and throw to 1st ? He seemed fairly close to the bag .
  18. Going to miss Melky when he's gone. Decent LH bat , plus personality and strong and accurate arm . I love watching runners get nailed. Very exciting.
  19. QUOTE (chitownsportsfan @ Jun 30, 2017 -> 10:21 AM) Hey S2k5, someone on SSS posted these super 2 service dates: Fulmer: July 5 Lopez: July 7 Giolito: July 13 Moncada: July 18 Little earlier than you posted last night in the minors forum. Are those accurate? No matter what the dates are when we see some prospects depends on who gets traded. Gaps on the roster should mean prospects get called up. If Q and some relievers get traded we'll probably see Lopez for starts and others for the bullpen .
  20. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 30, 2017 -> 01:53 PM) Daryl Van Schouwen‏Verified account @CST_soxvan 36s37 seconds ago AAA Charlotte Knights infielder Nicky Delmonico joining Yoan Moncada on International League All-Star team. Wasn't Delmonico picked to replace Moncada since Moncada will be playing in the Futures game instead of the All Star game ?
  21. QUOTE (flavum @ Jun 30, 2017 -> 09:54 AM) Alex Call is playing. No Burger or Sheets. Didn't Burgur say in his interview during the game he'd be in Az for 8 days ( not on the AZL team I think just extended time for instructional stuff) then Kanny after that ?
  22. Anyone else notice that they are busting Avi in on his hands even more now than before ? He still swings at way too many balls and the ones inside he can't barrel up. The adjustments by pitchers are in full swing now.Avi needs to lay off and take some walks.
  23. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Jun 30, 2017 -> 07:48 PM) He's not ready, IMO. Could benefit from another few months in AAA. I understand why they're doing it but it could mess with his development. He'll probably hit 3 HR's his 1st week up.
