QUOTE(White Sox Josh @ Dec 2, 2005 -> 12:44 AM) i meant 2004. I should've wrote that. Anybody who thinks Prior or Zambrano could be anything more than a #5 starter on this team right now is delusional. If we're going back to 04 then Zambrano's era was well over a run lower then Maddux's.

QUOTE(White Sox Josh @ Dec 2, 2005 -> 12:34 AM) Last year he led the Cubs in wins? Zambrano led the cubs in wins last season.

QUOTE(White Sox Josh @ Dec 2, 2005 -> 12:34 AM) who led the Cubs in innings? Last year he led the Cubs in wins? He also started the most games for the cubs? He doesn't let his emotions get the best of him? If i had game 7 of the world series and i could pick anyone of those pitchers it would be Maddux. Also what has Prior done besides 2003? He is living off the hype. His ERA was very high for an NL ACE. He also had that habit of throwing 100 pitches in 5 innings which meant he couldn't go deep into games. Lets see..Maddux outpitched Zambrano by a whole 2 innings and Zambrano's era was around a whole run lower. Um..ya.

QUOTE(fathom @ Dec 2, 2005 -> 12:28 AM) Zambrano's their best pitcher, and it's not even close. ^
-
QUOTE(White Sox Josh @ Dec 2, 2005 -> 12:23 AM) Right now Maddux is their best pitcher on that staff. How about NO.

Ozzie has no clue what's going on right now. "McCarthy should be a starter," said Guillen, referring to the ideal situation for the young right-hander. "But I don't know exactly what we are going to do."

QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Dec 1, 2005 -> 11:12 PM) I want to punch that website in the face right now.... I can hear it now.. "But Young strikes out a lot"... "But Cotts walks too many people" The only thing that makes me angrier is this 30-something page thread. Then stop posting in it.

QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Dec 1, 2005 -> 11:07 PM) .231/.301/.360 The collective batting line allowed this season by the pitchers Brian Anderson faced. In short, he saw nothing but all-star pitchers. How the hell did you figure that out?

Numerous reasons why ESPN sucks

QUOTE(Heads22 @ Dec 1, 2005 -> 10:40 PM) I miss OTL. ^ I guess that show wasn't mtv enough for them. I wish they'd still show full episodes of that and not just on the trifecta. That's another thing I hate about espn, the f***in trifecta sucks. -
QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Dec 1, 2005 -> 09:23 PM) WTF happend to SportsPage Live @ 9 on CLTV. Even though it sucked I watched it loyally. WHERE DID IT GO? It's gone?

Not happening.

QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Dec 1, 2005 -> 09:36 PM) As a LH hitter, if he were to drag bunt, the ball is more likely to get past the pitcher on turf than it is on grass Personally...I think Castillo would rake in the Metrodome. You saw how much Cristian Guzman's stats were affected by going from Minnesota to Washington...I think you will see the same type of pattern with Castillo, due to the two of them being very similar hitters. Similar types of hitters, don't call Castillo a similar hitter to Guzman, that isn't fair.

QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Dec 1, 2005 -> 09:35 PM) That is pretty messed up Steff. Honestly, it is not your business but it was definitely right of you to be concerned. Unfit parents is all that is. I think it's everybodies business when someone is treating a child that way. Anyways, steff that's a very tough situation to react to. You almost have to train yourself to be prepaired for a situation like that, if that makes any sense. I think a lot of people would have done what you did and just froze, I think that's the normal reaction to something like that.

QUOTE(SSH2005 @ Dec 1, 2005 -> 09:30 PM) That's what I was thinking but Kenny seemed pretty confident that he would be able to re-sign Konerko. He did, but he's smart enough to know you always need a backup plan, so he probably had a deal on the table for Giles just in case.
-
QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Dec 1, 2005 -> 09:20 PM) Nope, I am SURE he said White Sox. Well then, I know Kenny said at his conference call yesterday that they were in the midst of exploring other avenues in case Paul left, that would be the other avenue most likely.
-
QUOTE(SSH2005 @ Dec 1, 2005 -> 09:17 PM) Wow, that wouldn't make much sense unless VAfan was right! Maybe the Sox did want Giles in LF, Podsednik in CF, and Dye in RF. Or, SF1 misheard and they said Red Sox. That would be my guess.

QUOTE(VenomSox @ Dec 1, 2005 -> 09:11 PM) No MVP (MLB) this year right Correct. A college mvp game instead.

QUOTE(Chisoxrd5 @ Dec 1, 2005 -> 07:13 PM) How many times have you seen him play? I find it very hard to believe that he won't thrive in Duke's system. He has everything god, I mean coach K, is looking for in his 2 guard/SF's. He will do fine at Duke. I've seen him play quite a few times. I have good friends that are good friends with him. I just don't think to highly of him, hopefully I'm wrong. -
QUOTE(Jeckle2000 @ Dec 1, 2005 -> 08:07 PM) Your right... I don't know crap about our minor league system... I just don't see the point of getting all excited for the future superstars that never happen... Then you really have no business talking about it. Every freakin minor leaguer is unproven including Aaron Rowand . Gio has an excellent arm and imo will either be a top of the rotation guy or not even make it to the majors. You're absolutely correct that we have no clue what will come of Gio but to dismiss him just because he's a minor leaguer and a prospect is so ridiculous.

QUOTE(AddisonStSox @ Dec 1, 2005 -> 08:54 PM) Ah, ha...the force is strong in you, young beck72. But, seriously, I just don't see Mueller happening when you may be able to net that reserve-type via the trade of Marte or the like. If Mueller is signed, the payroll is hovering around $90M and that's not taking into consideration the offers I'm sure the organization would like to extend to Pierzynski, Garland, etc. This coming from the guy who said landing Paul and Thome would be impossible.
-
QUOTE(beck72 @ Dec 1, 2005 -> 08:44 PM) The sox aren't going to pay these guys w/ monoply money. $8 mill for a UTL guy who can only play 3b is a lot of money If they're really worried about Joe's back which they seem to be and with having some extra funds they'll give him a nice offer. A two year deal won't cripple them especially when next year he could become the starter.
-
QUOTE(beck72 @ Dec 1, 2005 -> 08:31 PM) Mueller won't be with the white sox. It would make more sense if the sox got someone who could play a solid 3b as well as another position. Mueller only plays 3b. Paying Mueller $4 mill a yr as Crede insurance makes little sense, esp as he can't play somewhere else in the field If it's only a 2 year deal I think it makes perfect sense. We still have some money to use so why not add a damn good insurance policy if your worried about Joe's back?? Then if and when Boras makes Joe bolt then you have Mueller for another year to hopefully allow Fields to be ready in 08.

QUOTE(whitesoxin' @ Dec 1, 2005 -> 06:39 PM) Yeah Scheyer is O-V-E-R-A-T-E-D. I can't wait to see him flop at Duke. He's going to flop. This from a Duke fan. -
QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Dec 1, 2005 -> 06:40 PM) I would take Washburn on my team as a 4-5 starter ANY day of the week, and you know there are teams out there desperate for pitching. I just dont get it. I must be missing something.... The Boras crap for a solid pitcher probably scares the daylights out of teams. He's a very solid starter but not an ace and we all know Boras is going to want ace like money for him.

QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Dec 1, 2005 -> 06:08 PM) Knowing now that Kong is back 100%, my interest in Pierre has gone down alot. Some posters here have made some good claims why the sox should and why the sox shouldnt go after Pierre, and personally I am now on the bandwagon of sticking with Anderson. If we land Pierre fine, I dont think it will hurt us like some posters seem to be making it out to be, but I expect big things out of Brian, and I think he knows if he is giving the starting job, this is his time to shine, and for no real reason at all, I have faith in the kid. For me I think I'd like him even more now that Kong is back. We got those 40 homers back and we'll have 110 or so from the 3-5 slots. We dont need the extra power from centerfield. Anyways, I have nothing against Anderson starting, I like him a lot but I would love to see Juan roaming cf but that's just me.
