  1. QUOTE(The Ginger Kid @ Mar 26, 2007 -> 10:51 PM) riddle me this - who was that guy starting in CF opening day last season? Who was the guy they gave the job to at the beginning of ST last year? I would like to call a friend.
  2. QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Mar 26, 2007 -> 10:10 PM) I love to make horrible comparisons, so I'll make another - Chase Utley didn't start until his 3rd year in the league. Well deal, hopefully he becomes another Chase Utley. I just think Brian needs ab's and I don't believe he's going to get them in a reserve role here. Hopefully I'm wrong, the way Brian has been handled overall has just pissed me off, that's all.
  3. QUOTE(fathom @ Mar 26, 2007 -> 09:56 PM) At least with Anderson on the roster, we can have an elite defensive replacement. With as much as this situation has been messed up, at least he made it and not Terrero. At this point, I guess I get overly happy about anything I can make into a positive. I see where you are coming from but I absolutely hate how BA has been handled by this team. We honestly gave him 0 shot to succeed and if he is a back up here, he'd obviously be a great defensive replacement but it almost signals to me that the organization has completely given up on him as a starter.
  4. QUOTE(fathom @ Mar 26, 2007 -> 09:51 PM) http://chicagosports.chicagotribune.com/sp...-home-headlines Looks like Anderson is going to make the team. That's great to hear, as going down to the minors would have been pointless. Also interesting to see that KW is concerned about the velocity of some of our pitchers. Looks like last year's story might be back again this year. I'm going to disagree with you fathom. I think we've almost thrown in the towel with Brian already, BA needs consistent ab's and he's not going to get them here as a back up imo.
  5. QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Mar 26, 2007 -> 09:52 PM) I'm wondering if it's possible to get Anderson 400 ABs this year. Or atleast 300. Hopefully he can out grind Prancer.
  6. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Mar 26, 2007 -> 08:48 PM) How about you stop being a little b**** and pony up the $120 for MLB.tv like the rest of us TRUE fans. You sicken me. What are those of us who get blacked out of Sox games in Carbondale on MLB.tv for some f***in reason and have now been completely screwed out of getting the extra innings package supposed to do?
  7. I'll be at plenty, not sure on the exact number though.
  8. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Mar 26, 2007 -> 05:21 PM) They would dump him in a heartbeat. The problem is he exercised his player option after last season and is making pretty big coin. Well then...nevermind.
  9. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Mar 26, 2007 -> 05:16 PM) I was responding to a post, if you don't like it don't read it. I'm not going to avoid responding to a direct statement because you can't handle it. I don't mean to be an ass but I just don't get why you did that. Wiki Gonzalez is 33 years old and has been given quite a few chances, failing miserably each time and I've been thoroughly unimpressed with Molina's play in Spring Training as well as his minor league production. Nothing about either of them indicates they could produce at the major league level. As for possible replacements, there aren't a lot out there. I'd absolutely love Damian Miller but outside of that I can't think of many other names. And haven't the Brewers said plenty of times that they want to hold on to Damian?
  10. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Mar 26, 2007 -> 05:09 PM) Why would the Tigers suddenly suck and the Sox improve despite having a roster with less proven talent than last year? I think that's better. Works for me I don't think the Tigers will suck, I want to make that clear, I do however think they'll regress. JMO.
  11. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Mar 26, 2007 -> 05:00 PM) Why would the Tigers suddenly suck and the Sox improve despite being a less talented team than they were last year? The Tigers will regress. And the Sox are less talented than last year? I don't know if I agree with that, less proven for sure but I wouldn't say less talented.
  12. QUOTE(SuperSteve @ Mar 26, 2007 -> 05:04 PM) I think a lot of us have known who he is for years, so I wouldn't say unknown, I would however say good grief. New keyboard?
  13. QUOTE(AWhiteSoxinNJ @ Mar 26, 2007 -> 04:59 PM) If you don't like Javy then you go out and make a deal. Or wait for waviers to pick up someone from a team with 3 good catchers like the Phillies. Your all acting like the season hinges on Toby Hall. Like Javy, theres a reason why he was traded for nothing from Tampa to LA and then LA wanted nothing to do with him. No one has said that the season hinges on Hall but to dismiss him as a "dime a dozen" player is ridiculous.
  14. QUOTE(AWhiteSoxinNJ @ Mar 26, 2007 -> 04:48 PM) I'm not writing it off, what I'm saying is that there are the same players out there as Hall that can do the same things. And yes, KW overpaid for a backup catcher. You didn't get to watch Widger and Alomar play a lot, did you?
  15. QUOTE(AWhiteSoxinNJ @ Mar 26, 2007 -> 04:38 PM) a 12 page thread about a back up catcher? You guys are nuts. BTW, your a fool if your blaming Ozzie for this. I'm sure Hall agreed to play first base instead of been forced into the situation. Correct. Back up catchers are so unimportant. I'm sure Hall agreed as well, that has absolutely nothing to do with it.
  16. QUOTE(fathom @ Mar 26, 2007 -> 04:33 PM) FWIW, there have been 3 more computer models that have run projections for the 2007 MLB standings. The highest White Sox record was 74-88 in the models, and they didn't make the playoffs one time out of the 1,000 times the projections were run. Look for these projections to be released in the next few days. I feel better about our chances now. Seriously.

    I'm thinking 91.
  18. Teachers should get fired for scheduling tests on Opening Day. What the hell.
  19. Damaso Marte.
  20. Thank god.
  21. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Mar 25, 2007 -> 10:17 PM) KW goes out and makes one of the best signings of his tenure as White Sox GM and it takes Ozzie less than 3 weeks to f*** it up. Super. What a surprise.
  22. QUOTE(Palehosefan @ Mar 25, 2007 -> 07:43 PM) I know, and yes I know I sound like a whiny little baby. Coupled with UNC's mascot Jason Ray about to pass away and the most likely departure for the NBA of Brandan Wright, Ty Lawson, and maybe even Hansbrough, it just sucks as a UNC fan right now. But life goes on. Look at it this way: At least you're not an Iowa State fan.
  23. QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Mar 25, 2007 -> 04:11 PM) Florida is toast now that they aren't in that ridiculously easy bracket. They are fortunate that only half of the Oregon guards showed up, and that Humphrey and Green shot it that well. Ah well, this was my upset region anyways. No fun to pick all chalk. UCLA gets their shot at revenge now, and I like their chances now that Afflalo woke up and that they beat a team better than Florida last game. What exactly do you have against Florida? Cause you certainly underrated their football team like your doing with their basketball team right now.
