  1. Nobody is even discussing this series ?
  2. Not too much excitement around here, huh? I sort of half-watched game 1 and just checked in on the box score for game 2 a couple of times. Seems like Arizona is probably the team this year.
  3. Should’ve lined it off his face.
  4. I imagine that’s them trying to take advantage of the Diamondbacks going deep into the playoffs. Mooching off of their accomplishments.
  5. But those things are still better than a pitcher who doesn’t appear to be improving enough to even make the major league team, no?
  6. 2014 World Series (Giants/Royals). But let’s not act like the Rangers are scrubs. They tied for their division record. The Astros just had the better head-to-head record. Same.
  7. I’ve heard advertisements for adult diapers on Cubs radio broadcasts. I thought that was odd and had to be embarrassing for the announcer to have to read it.
  8. I don’t care either, just making conversation. I was talking to a friend a few months ago and mentioned about the Mariners being the only team never to appear in a Word Series. He countered with the Rockies. I had to explain to him and even pull up the Wikipedia article to prove it happened. I imagine this one will be similar. By the way, that one was memorable to me because the Cubs were swept by a team, who were then swept by a team, who were then sweet by a team.
  9. My man is passionate about this subject.
  10. Sounds pretty spot on. I’d say one component for sure is that he has a real disdain for the fans. That’s something that seemed like a goofy conspiracy theory a while ago, but now actually seems like it has to be true.
  11. Agreed. But then, what the f*** is JR doing?
  12. That’s exactly my point. I’m happy as a pig in s%*# that it’s two of the more obscure teams in the WS. I like to see teams that don’t win it regularly get a chance. I’ll be rooting for the Rangers, but will not be upset if it’s Arizona. That’s a good way of looking at it, and something I hadn’t considered. I am just amused at the idea of the highest MLB executives losing their s%*# that the larger market/fanbase teams aren’t in it. They may not be, as you’ve argued, but it still makes me smile.
  13. If you go by the average number of viewers, it’s obvious that people just don’t care about baseball anymore. I don’t think the playoff formats make any difference.
  14. I remember that night in 2005 well. Jumping around whisper-screaming in my dorm so that I didn’t wake up my roommates. Getting up a couple hours later and going to class exhausted, but happy to be doing it.
  15. I’m not saying this is going to be a bad series. It may be great for all we know. But it will definitely get low ratings, and most people will forget about this matchup in a few years.
  16. Would be nice for the Rangers to get their first WS. They should have the upper hand.
  17. Off topic, but what ever happened to the game chats here? Those were always fun.
  18. Is that where you are?
  19. And they have “starters” that will cost them the first five innings. They will not finish .500 or even close to it.
  20. Never been or even looked into pricing. Though I thought I remember a few guys from this site talking about bringing their kids there years ago. I figured that was a major draw of it. Either way, not having it is still going to hurt the overall fan interest in the team.
  21. Especially in a sport whose overall viewership and youth interest seems to be declining. And double especially for a team whose viewership and interest is definitely declining.
  22. Oh, I thought it was just funny and not another grievance I couldn’t care less about.
  23. The Braves’ fest is just called “Team Fest”? That’s hilarious. And no surprise that Oakland’s fest sounds like a high school event. “A’s Spirit Week”. They probably spend the same amount as a decent high school does on their own spirit week.
  24. I found an error in the article, perhaps a simple oversight. But the word “Bochy” only appears once on the entire page.
