We love you Gordon, oh yes we do
QUOTE (earthshiner @ Aug 10, 2009 -> 11:38 PM) I didn't get one for this very reason, seems a lot of rookies change numbers before their second year meh its just a shirt, if it have been a jersey id be pissed Plus I get to wear a Beckham throwback shirt if he does do it now. Then again whoever makes the jerseys and shirts for MLB might not allow Beckham to change it because I'm sure they have a bunch of jerseys/shirts that are not sold yet and would become worthless if he changed his number.

So does the man we all love give up #15? I hope not since I have his jersey shirt.

Official 2009-2010 NHL Thread
QUOTE (EvilJester99 @ Aug 9, 2009 -> 10:51 AM) Sure doesn't sound like Kane to me.. but ya never know I guess. They said the fair was like $13.60 and Kane gave him $15 and then got pissed the cabbie didn't have to correct change... sounds really odd to me. I love when athlete gets upset about losing $1.40. What a joke.

Confirmed: White Sox claim on Alex Rios on waivers
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Aug 9, 2009 -> 02:04 AM) Maybe it isn't the White Sox: KW on whitesox.com "You know how many times we've been sitting here and we [hear], 'Most likely it's the White Sox. They are going to do this, they are going to do that, the White Sox are involved in trade discussions with this guy, that guy,'" said Williams, holding court with the media prior to Saturday night's game against Cleveland. "And I'm sitting at home and I call [assistant general manager] Rick [Hahn] and I say, 'Hey, have you had conversations with team so and so? No, I haven't, so let's call [White Sox chairman] Jerry [Reinsdorf] to see if he had any.'" He isn't allowed to say he made the claim, or if he didn't make the claim. Your not allowed to speak about it to the media. KW is doing what he has to do just tip toe around the questions.

2009 MLB Catch-All Thread
QUOTE (CryptviLL @ Aug 8, 2009 -> 10:48 PM) The worst stat in baseball is Wins tho, at least a save has generally some pressure to it, one last inning, 1 run game, its harsh a win, you throw 5 innings, get killed, but your team hits well and u get the win, lol. meh some people say its worthless, but you know a pitchers good if they're able to gather a ton of wins on a bad team. And you don't fluke yourself into a career thats like 50-100 games over .500

Confirmed: White Sox claim on Alex Rios on waivers
QUOTE (JDsDirtySox @ Aug 8, 2009 -> 10:37 PM) It is now being reported that Rios has a no trade clause, and a no trade clause overrides waivers... according to Will Carroll. Not sure how that works... but more and more things are pointing to Rios staying in Canada. What exactly tells you Rios is going to deny the trade?

2009 MLB Catch-All Thread
QUOTE (santo=dorf @ Aug 8, 2009 -> 06:09 AM) Why is that boggling your mind? Saves is pretty much a worthless stat. Give me the best pitcher in any scenario. Screw the "closer" mentality crap. haha Its pretty clear some guys are not made to throw the ninth. Like when Linebrink was good last year if you pitched him in the 9th he sucked, but in the 8th he just shut guys down.

We love you Gordon, oh yes we do
QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Aug 7, 2009 -> 01:15 PM) Well we're not trading him anytime soon and this isn't fantasy baseball, so right now he's more valuable at 3rd for the White Sox and that's all that matters. I met for the future obviosly right now he is more valuable at 3rd for the sox. But in the future he's better in the MIF

Carl Pavano traded
QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Aug 7, 2009 -> 02:35 PM) The Twins acquired veteran right-hander Carl Pavano on Friday from the Indians in exchange for a player to be named later. Pavano, 33, in the midst of a somewhat revitalizing season following four disappointing years with the Yankees, adds some veteran presence to the rotation of a Minnesota team that will open a weekend series against Detroit with a 53-55 record, in third place in the AL Central, trailing the division-leading Tigers by 4 1/2 games. To accomodate Pavano on the 25-man Major League roster, the Twins optioned right-hander R.A. Dickey to Triple-A Rochester. Pavano went 9-8 in Cleveland -- matching his victory total for 2005-08 in New York -- with a 5.37 ERA in 17 starts and 100 innings. He is expected to join the team tonight in Detroit. Pavano last pitched on Sunday, making him available for manager Ron Gardenhire to immediately inject him into the rotation. He is 3-0 with a 1.93 ERA against the Tigers this season. Tom Singer is a reporter for MLB.com. This story was not subject to the approval of Major League Baseball or its clubs. How did this thing happen is what I want to know about it? If you can clear waivers after the trade deadline you can get traded.

We definitely have to try this

Carl Pavano traded
QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Aug 7, 2009 -> 01:10 PM) Rumor has it Pavano asked to be traded because he would be facing Beckham tomorrow. I expect him to ask for another trade when he is due to face us as a Twin. of all the funny Beckham love these past few days I believe this post tops them all.

Game Thread: 8/7 Sowers(3-7) @ Buehrle(11-5) 7:11CDT WCIU
QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Aug 7, 2009 -> 12:51 PM) I'm predicting a perfect game....for Beckham. 6 for 6 with 6 grand slams. He will also catch all 27 outs as line drives to 3rd. Wrong. One of the outs will be a line drive he managed to catch on the warning track in RF.

We love you Gordon, oh yes we do
QUOTE (Fedor @ Aug 7, 2009 -> 11:16 AM) Beckham most certainly is NOT worth more as a SS than he is a 3B. Why? Because there is nothing in his college or minor league career that indicates that he can be anything but a mediocre defensive SS. Although defensive prowess remains exceedingly difficult to quantify, it's fairly reasonably to conclude that Beck will cost you bases/outs/runs with the glove as a middle INF, in the long haul 3B, however, I can definately see him play on above-average basis --- as he is more athletic than most 3B. In fact, it can be argued that since the AllStar break, he's made a big improvement at the position (until yesterday, lol). Beckham is the 3B of the future. Alexei is the SS of the future (hopefully the whole aloof/lazy thing on routine throws is just temporary). It really is that simple. Even Ozzie agrees. Defense aside Beckham's bat is more valuable at SS. There is no arguing against this point its a fact.

Game Thread: 8/7 Sowers(3-7) @ Buehrle(11-5) 7:11CDT WCIU
One month ago today we had this exact pitching match up at home. I started the Game Thread and we won on 3 Konerko Homeruns. Heres to hoping me posting the gamethread brings another W and 3 Konerko Homers.

Dancing White Sox Vendor
QUOTE (zenryan @ Aug 7, 2009 -> 12:28 AM) There was a vendor at all the local Orlando sporting events(Magic games, AA baseball,Citrus Bowl, etc) that looked he was the twin brother of OJ Simpson. A local newspaper even wrote an article about him. He would walk around with a black glove, a rubber knife and a sign hanging from his vendor tray saying "White Bronco For Sale." It was pretty funny. What about the scottie pippen look alike at sox games. I havent seen him in a few years though.

QUOTE (rangercal @ Aug 6, 2009 -> 04:08 AM) I never liked caruso. I LOVE Beckham. I could not be impressed with a .721 OPS, sorry. The best "Slappy" ever would have been was a slightly better version of Chris Getz. That said, Beckham is playing slightly better than David Wright in his rookie year. He's playing slightly better then David Wright now.

White Sox Winner
QUOTE (rockren @ Aug 5, 2009 -> 11:19 PM) He started it all. Some could say we won because of him... Not because of the double, but because of the fear he struck in the angels the minute they stepped into the ball park.

Tailgating near the Ampitheater in Tinley Park?
QUOTE (SoxFan562004 @ Aug 5, 2009 -> 10:25 PM) If that's true, that's a new rule. I've seen Buffet twice there and both times tailgated. I believe Buffet negotiated with the place and said there will be tailgating or I wont play there. Actually I'm positive thats what happened.
