After hearing about all of the great results I'd like to start this program by next week. Are the dvds basically the same price anywhere, or is there a place that I can get them a little bit cheaper? I'm going to start scoping Amazon for the pullup bar and bands today.

This place sounds fantastic. I love burgers and I love beer. I apparently better just make sure I have a full wallet the first time I try this place out!

How well will the Twins play outdoors on grass?

QUOTE (since56 @ Feb 15, 2010 -> 07:50 AM) Go to the Twins website and look at their Ballpark. It has a right field overhang of some sort. Not an upper deck overhang like old Tiger stadium but it looks like the lower bowl has 8 or 10 rows jutting out over the wall. Made for Mauer, Morneau, Kubel, and now Thome. Maybe that helped Thome make his decision to go there. Easier to get his 600th. They are already grooming their team to their new ballpark. Yet another reason for the Sox to add a lefty power hitter as a DH -

QUOTE (SouthsideDon48 @ Feb 13, 2010 -> 02:32 PM) I went to Burger N Que again today and noticed on the menu that they had a Venison Burger, a Turkey Burger, and an Ostrich Burger. I was intriqued,... so I got the Ostrich Burger. :-D The Ostrich burger was very good, they made it with mustard, pickles, and tomatoes, and the burger itself tasted good, it was kinda tougher than normal beef, and it was also a little saltier. 2 Thumbs up. Haha I got this today from Burger n Que as well. I had never eaten an ostrich burger before so I tried one. It was pretty good. Tasted almost like a regular burger except like you said a little bit tougher, and a slight difference in taste. They have a lot more on their menu then i thought they would when I went in there as well. Next time I'll have to try the bananas foster bites

QUOTE (SouthsideDon48 @ Feb 12, 2010 -> 12:16 AM) Bumping this thread to give praise to an awesome burger place I found in Orland Park: Burger N Que, located on Wolf Road south of 167th street, but just north of Route 6. They have awesome burgers that taste like they're homemade, they're thick as hell and very delicious. They also have a "Hawaiian Burger" and other cool burgers. They also have a Char Chili-Cheese hotdog that's HUGE!!! The hotdog is almost as big as a kid's wrist. Check it out sometime. I have wanted to try that place for some time. I guess I'll have to stop in and check it out real soon.

Dye says "crowded outfield" prolonged his slump

The Boondocks Saints are a good example as well, but if I was going to pick just one I would go with Vic Mackey from the Shield. Might take a lot of tv watching to pick the right episode(s) to show though, considering there were 7 seasons.

QUOTE (lostfan @ Feb 8, 2010 -> 11:04 AM) Did you see Brady's last playoff game where his normally outstanding supporting cast and the well-oiled machine didn't pick up any slack? What quarterback would win a game where their supporting cast does nothing? I don't care if your Peyton Manning, Tom Brady, Brett Favre, John Elway, or Joe Montana. NO ONE is going to win a Super Bowl by themselves. Brady has a great playoff record and 3 rings. Manning is 9-9 and has one. Not to say that Manning won't go down as the better quarterback, but at this point I don't see how you can go against Brady all things considered.

QUOTE (MattZakrowski @ Feb 6, 2010 -> 02:46 PM) This. My friend had tickets, but I had work that day so I had to pass. I caught the 9th inning on the radio by chance (went to the car on a break). Got let go from the job two weeks later due to staff reduction. WHY DID IT HAVE TO BE A DAY GAME?! So many people at work and all.

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Feb 5, 2010 -> 05:09 PM) No, because a trade is a degree. It isn't anything less than that. I got a degree in accounting/finance so I could go into that. In the trade world, you usually are an apprentice for a few years, hone your craft, and get good and at that point hopefully become a contractor or master craftsmen, etc. That time you are learning is when you are essentially earning your degree in your skill so that you can be on your own one day. Just like I went to school to learn accounting so I could be on my own one day. A degree from here or learning a trade is no different. Remember, trades involve getting certifications too. But they are not included in the estimates for earnings of college graduates -

QUOTE (The Beast @ Feb 5, 2010 -> 11:22 AM) I often wonder if it is possible to do both. One of my passions, like everyone elses on this board, is the White Sox. My other passion is the Bears, another helping people and another when I think about it is influencing and persuading others. So really what does that translate to? Several options. J-school, political science, business and counseling education or psychology. I fall under the category of social and enterprising occupations. These include teaching, psychologist, manager, lawyer, etc. Ultimately, this is probably why a liberal arts education fits best. So to say that I'm just working toward my passion or just towards money isn't exactly accurate, but I would fall under the people who work because it pays well and it is satisfying. I'm kind of the same way. I'm actually attending graduate school for Industrial Organizational Psychology in the fall, which is a good mixture business and social science. Now if I could find a spot in the White Sox organization after I graduate I will have everything covered lol. -

QUOTE (bmags @ Feb 4, 2010 -> 09:16 PM) Tex, I get the impression that recently you don't understand how condescending you can come across, so I will tell you that this was condescending. For one, no, before going to a story the editor does not ask, okay, did you ever have bio 1000? You know why? Because if someone thinks they know a damn about biology because they took an entry level class in the course than they are arrogant idiots who will write a terrible story. I knew a lot about education policy and so I covered education. If they needed me to cover a bio story I would and would be effective because I know how to analyze data, and would speak to every relevant person on the subject. And that would be for a quick one up. If an editor picks a journalist to cover a feature on an in-depth biology story because they took bio 101, they should be fired, or at least publicly flayed. This is kind of getting back at the point I was trying to make. The more a student can learn about a subject (i.e. taking more classes in it) the more efficient they will be in their career. The idea of a "well rounded student" is great in theory, but it doesn't seem to be as effective in actual practice. Taking an entry level chemistry class, and entry level biology class, and an entry level art class will not help 99% of students in other majors in regards to their careers. What we end up remembering and utilizing are the ideas that not only have been taught to us, but have been pounded into our heads and built upon with successive classes in the subject. For example, If I was journalist, and I had to write an article about geology (which I took freshman year) I can tell you that I would not have an advantage over anyone that never took geology because I really don't remember anything I learned in that particular class. -

QUOTE (bmags @ Feb 4, 2010 -> 01:44 PM) Exactly, one thing that pissed me off to no end was I had to take 3 extra hours of ANYTHING (meaning 1000 level courses) because I had taken too many journalism classes. I was a journalism major. It was the stupidest s*** I've ever seen. What really bothered me was classes such as chemisty, geology, and speech did some major damage to my gpa. I had to fight an uphill battle after freshman year. I don't know why I should suffer because I'm not good at chmistry when I want nothing to do with it when I'm out of school -

QUOTE (ptatc @ Feb 4, 2010 -> 07:38 AM) There is still something to be said for having a well rounded individual. For example, what do people think of athletes who aren't well spoken? They think they are idiots even if they aren't. Many of them also require writing for the same purpose, if you don't elevate your writing skills, especially in this day and age of shortcut texting habits, you will have difficulty with many jobs. While they aren't "necessary" for a specific job, many students don't know what they want to do yet and these can help make that decision. It is never a bad thing to have a more well rounded, educated society. I agree that a few general education courses be required. An english course, a speech course, and a math course. If a specific major requires more then a student can take more. There is no reason every student has to take chemistry, biology, geology, art history, , etc. Especially when we have taken a lot of these classes in high school. There is nothing wrong with a semesters worth of general education requirements, but two years worth is just plain ridiculous imo. -

In my opinion, the biggest problem is what that you need to have a college degree to do work that barely requires a high school degree. I was working at one of those online colleges (don't even get me started) as an admissions advisor for awhile. It is basically being a glorified telemarketer, with one of the requirements being a college degree. I also don't understand some of these online schools can be accredited by the same body as state schools. The idea that you have to have a college degree to advance in a job, or even attain one is making thirty and forty somethings throw $20-60 thousand dollars on a degree that (in my opinion) they are not getting that much from. What needs to happen is that either some of these entry level jobs need to become more easily obtainable, or a college education need to become more beneficial. They make students take so many general education requirements that are not necessary, but very costly (for those who don't know general education requirement are subjects such as english, history, art, science, etc. They take up 2 years worth of credits, are often light extensions of what they teach you in high school, usually have nothing to do with what you are majoring in, and most of them seem very unnecessary). I have found that the majors where they repeatedly beat information into your head and build on it with each class are the most beneficial. Majors like accounting and construction management seem to prepare students well to work in a specific industry and be successful at it. If you major in something more general like marketing, business administration, psychology, sociology, history, etc. you will probably be working at something that you did not need your degree for. Sales and retail management trainees are two very common fields that many different majors end up in. I was a Psychology major and I am preparing to go to graduate school in the fall for Industrial Organizational Psychology. I can't help but think that if instead of taking so many freakin' general education requirements, I could have taken more specific classes that focus on information that is specific to what I want to get into, then maybe I wouldn't have to shell out some much more cash for a couple years of more school. A bachelor's degree is the new high school degree, and a master's degree is the new bachelor's degree. If colleges did a better job of preparing students to enter into specific careers where they would have a general level of expertise, entry level jobs could open up to individuals without a college degree, and more of those with a degree could enter into the field they specifically studied. Then if you want to enter a specific field that requires some sort of proficiency or expertise a bachelors degree will give it to you. If you don't, then maybe you wouldn't need a degree to work at Enterprise Rent-A-Car, or Sherwin Williams anymore. -
QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jan 29, 2010 -> 03:55 PM) My dream scenario is still a Sox-Cubs World Series, ending in Game 7 at USCF with a Paulie walkoff grand slam after being down by 3. It would destroy Cubdom. That would be too nerve racking. I would rather just sweep them. I would greatly fear losing to the Cubs in the World Series. I mean their fans can't keep their mouths shut now and they haven't won anything in over one hundred years, imagine if they beat us in the World Series

QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Jan 29, 2010 -> 04:11 PM) Words can't describe. I knew with so much certainty that if they worked it out and held off a strike, that was our year. I could just feel it. And then...poof. I felt exactly the same way. I had the same feeling that year watching them that I had when I watched the Bulls during their three peats. I just knew they were going to win it all....and then they went on strike.

QUOTE (FlaSoxxJim @ Jan 26, 2010 -> 03:43 PM) Vito and Nick's Now end of discussion. I also think Vito and Nicks has the best thin crust pizza. I usually get a supreme from there, but I tried the roast beef last time (after seeing it on Diners Drive Ins and Dives, and if you havent seen that look for it because Vito and Nicks is featured on an episdoe) and it was also delicious Have you ate in there recently though? The last two time I have been there, the service has been horrendous. I'm not usually someone who complains anywhere, but it has been ridiculous. There was one younger waitress who works her butt off, and the rest are miserable. It was to the point where we waited over 2 hours for our pizza after we ordered it (and it wasn't that busy for Vito and Nicks). She got the order wrong. The worst part about this whole ordeal was during the over 2 hours we were waiting, she didn't refill our drinks one time. We had to go to the bar and pay cash 3 or 4 times for drinks while we were waiting, and we were not the only table doing this. I saw at least 2 other tables have to go up and get their own drinks from the bar. Watching table after table come in after us to sit in the younger waitress' section, and leave well before us became quite annoying. Just so you guys know, if you dine in there, try to sit with the younger one, or you might be there awhile. Vito and Nick's might be the only place that could get away with this though, because their pizza is so damn good.

QUOTE (MattZakrowski @ Jan 22, 2010 -> 09:01 PM) I'm gonna guess you have no respect for shotgun protocol on road trips... I agree about the parking spot saving being wrong, but I am a supporter of the shotgun call for the front seat. First one to call shotgun outside gets the front. But I would disagree with putting an item in the front seat to save it as theirs until the next time they rode in the car.
