  1. QUOTE (chw42 @ Mar 9, 2010 -> 08:18 PM) There's only one... 2K10. Unless he doesn't care about new rosters. Then he should go with 2K7. In that case, I'd stick with MVP 05
  2. I was gonna have C/1B be my 2nd position, but I don't have all day to be calling games, so now it's IF for my 3B. Also, I've been traded 3 times, and was part of a deal that sent Albert Pujols to the Rays for me and Carlos Pena.
  3. If you search empty net on google images, the 3rd image is titled Cristobal Huet.
  4. QUOTE (chw42 @ Mar 7, 2010 -> 12:52 AM) This is a very interesting thought and I tend to agree with it. Not every inning is the same. This is where value gets a bit screwed up. With stats like VORP or WARP, they tend to undervalue relievers because they pitch less innings. However, I think that the late innings are far different than the early and mid innings. It's more of a mental thing, but in baseball, mentality might just be half of the game. If the Twins do lose Nathan, we should see a pretty big dip in their wins, mostly because Matt Guerrier will end up closing games, resulting in a domino effect of Rauch, Crain, and Mijares setting up, which thins out their middle relief. So basically, everybody is expected to do something out of the ordinary and that's when stuff starts going crazy. We saw this with the Sox in 08. When Jenks went out that bullpen shat itself and was never the same afterwards. Agreed, but to say he's more critical to their success than Joe freaking Mauer is just wrong.
  5. This is what happened tonight
  6. QUOTE (knightni @ Mar 6, 2010 -> 05:00 PM) Just like his old man's moves this offseason. Mediocre.
  7. QUOTE (knightni @ Mar 6, 2010 -> 11:51 AM) no catcher is worth 22 mil. I'd be willing to give Mauer 25 per year for 10 years. He's one of the games top 5 hitters, while playing good/great defense at the scarcest position.
  8. QUOTE (lostfan @ Mar 6, 2010 -> 05:49 AM) Last year. Hi, my name is Jay Cutler. ...which meant they wouldn't have to pay a 1st round pick for two straight years.
  9. So a deer is the worst animal you can be. They're the suicide bombers of the forest.
  10. QUOTE (Kalapse @ Mar 4, 2010 -> 03:54 PM) Go to "Manage Roster" then to Starting Pitchers and he should be 5th from the bottom. His Potential is some how a "D". A ton of players have messed up potentials, it's getting fixed with the monday roster update.
  11. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Mar 2, 2010 -> 04:54 PM) The Nationals will do the predictable thing and keep Strasburg in the minors to start the season to give his arb clock a later start, thus telling their fans that winning still matters not. In other news, the sky is blue. If I was a Nats fan that's what I'd want. I'd be open to keeping him down for over a year if I thought it would allow for less of his team controlled years to not be wasted.
  12. No more divisions, every team plays every other team 5-6 times.
  13. My RTTS 3B is using a pink bat for mother's day. This game is fantastic.
  14. QUOTE (iamshack @ Mar 1, 2010 -> 10:54 PM) I'm sorry guys, but we don't have NEARLY enough information about Miguel Cabrera's drinking habits to anoint him as an alcoholic. We know of one story where the guy was out boozing a bit later than he should have been before an important game. That may simply be an error in judgment, not a symptom of a disease. Yes, he also had an altercation with his wife, which is certainly not acceptable either. But I know a lot of guys who have gone out and had a few too many and then come home and argued with their wives. That makes them idiots, but not necessarily alcoholics. A lot of baseball players, especially latin or south american ballplayers, have not grown up in the best of situations and so they don't always know how to handle the money, fame, women, success that comes with their talents. Do they f*** up sometimes once they are put in that situation? Yes. Do they abuse their sudden popularity and wealth sometimes? Yes. Do they maybe think they are invincible because they have so much talent that they are able to do things most normal people would die to be able to do? Yes. So they are immediately branded an alcoholic once they do something stupid and alcohol is involved? I'm sorry, I am just not so quick to judge. I'd love to see the collection of alcoholics we have among us here, if that criteria is so easily fulfilled. http://www.soxtalk.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=75831
  15. QUOTE (Felix @ Mar 1, 2010 -> 02:18 PM) Tell that to the NFL. The NFL markets stars, but it's way more about teams. No league is even near as star driven as the NBA.
  16. QUOTE (SouthsideDon48 @ Mar 1, 2010 -> 02:37 PM) I actually think all other MLB players of similar skill to Longoria are overpaid. I kinda hope contracts like Longoria's will start a trend of moderate contracts, but then again people like Boras and the Yankees will always screw it up and overpay players. I really wish the MLB had a salary cap. What do you have against the players getting their fair share of the revenue they generate? It's not like the alternative is money going to charity, it's money staying in the pockets of multi-millionaires.
  17. QUOTE (juddling @ Feb 26, 2010 -> 03:51 PM) Best nightclub dress code policy ever /starts slowclap
  18. I don't want Juan Pierre getting his badness on any prospects. These kids haven't built up an immunity yet.
  19. QUOTE (SockMe @ Feb 27, 2010 -> 11:30 AM) I can honestly say the only player I would trade Beckham for is Pujols. Lincecum, Longoria, H.Ramirez, Mauer, J.Upton, without any hesitation.
  20. QUOTE (Reddy @ Feb 27, 2010 -> 01:03 PM) the world's going to flippin' fall apart any second. maybe 2012 was on to something. Bad movies are generally the 1st sign of the Apocalypse. If Avatar wins best picture, I'm going to start a bomb shelter.
  21. This thread need to be stickied or something
  22. QUOTE (Palehosefan @ Feb 25, 2010 -> 11:50 PM) So I usually keep up with this thread as much as I can, specifically about sports games, but I still have a question. I don't use the online play, or play a ton of actual games on it, I just love the general manager, franchise type stuff. Is there any reason I should think about getting MLB2k10 this season instead of the Show? I saw that MLB2K10 has compensation picks in the amateur draft now, can't remember if the Show had that last year or this year. This
  23. QUOTE (knightni @ Feb 25, 2010 -> 06:00 PM) I mean... fat. Like 400 pounds fat.
  24. I didn't know his OBP was quite that good. I dunno if he's 7 mil good, but as long as the price isn't too steep, I'd say go for it.
