QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Sep 30, 2007 -> 08:33 PM) Pretty tough to disagree with God, so I'm thinking baseball should definitely go that route. amen?

White Sox, A.J. Pierzynski agree on two-year extension

At least catcher won't be a question mark for the next few years. -
QUOTE(Markbilliards @ Sep 28, 2007 -> 11:00 PM) Who would you have rather had on the White Sox this season, Josh Beckett or Bobby Jenks? I'd take Beckett's numbers. What does Beckett have to do with Bobby getting Cy Young consideration? Of course, most people would take a starter like Beckett over a Closer like Jenks.

Anytime a player hits 2 HR's off Santana, it's a good thing.

Speed, Power and Contribution to the Offense

NSS72, Great stuff as usual. Some of those stats are pretty revealing. Our catchers suck. Gonzalez needs to be in Double-A. Please just let Pods, Erstad, and Uribe go. That alone would be a multiplication by subtraction. QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Sep 21, 2007 -> 05:41 PM) I guess it takes a big hulking mathematical formula to show that Jerry Owens is good at baseball. Now that's pretty funny. -
Congrats to Big Jim! Bottom of the 9th, in walk off fashion. Can't get much better than that.

New England Patriots...cheaters?

QUOTE(rowandrules83 @ Sep 13, 2007 -> 06:50 PM) Belichick fined $500,000, the maximum allowed, Pats fined $250,000. More importantly, they will lose a 2008 1st rd pick if they make the playoffs, or a 2008 2nd and 3rd rd pick if they miss the postseason. That is sweet. Every other team in the league now moves up one slot. The Belichick fine is awesome. His reputation is shot. -
QUOTE(RockRaines @ Sep 13, 2007 -> 01:10 PM) Injury prone? You mean like the broken wrist that he not only played through, but elevated him game with? Hes 20 years old and will have a small knee surgery. He will be back easily. Injury prone? Yes. This says it all, the guy had a multitude of injuries: http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/news;_ylt=AgKu...o&type=lgns

The only question mark entering the draft about him was his health. Sucks to be Portland. http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/news;_ylt=Agp9...o&type=lgns

They might as well bring up more minor leaguers to see what they have. You never play to lose, but....... Just play spoiler and make Detroit the 1st place loser. With 7 games left vs KC, you have to believe those games will decide who gets the 1st pick.

How about adding bad managing, coaching, personnel mangement decisions, and scouting to that list. All other teams need to do is throw the ball low and away, or start a LHP.

QUOTE(Heads22 @ Sep 2, 2007 -> 08:24 PM) It was a 2-RBI single. The losses we could have could have a much bigger impact on this organization than meaningless wins at this point. I've never seen it worded that way.

Here is a list: http://soxprospects.wikispaces.com/2008+Draft+Watch Wrong Sox, but some info about available players.

Iknow you don't care but.... Andy Gonzalez is batting 6th tonight

QUOTE(Vance Law @ Aug 29, 2007 -> 05:49 PM) It just goes to show how poorly Kenny did preparing for this year when we do not have a better 8th 3rd baseman down on the depth chart after Crede gets injured, Ozuna breaks his leg, Mackowiak gets traded, we move Fields to LF to prepare for next year, Cintron goes on bereavement........ So true..... -

The key to the whole trade comes down to Anderson. Vazquez for Young would have been easier to swallow now if Anderson was the starting CF hitting around .250 and playing great D. BTW, Young just hit 2 more HRs and drove in 4 in a victory over the Cubs.

QUOTE(Chisoxrd5 @ Aug 26, 2007 -> 01:59 PM) Outscored 46-7 in a four game series....I'm not sure I recall such a travesty during my lifetime. Good to see Andy Gonzalez and Josh Fields produce in their new positions. Its also good to see how well our offense has been clicking with Ozzie's new obsession with the lefty-righty-lefty-righy lineups. "The Red Sox outscored Chicago 46-7 in the series. Boston scored at least 10 runs in each game, only the fourth time that has happened in a four-game series since 1900, according to the Elias Sports Bureau. It's the first time it has happened in the American League in 85 years." So unless you are 85, you are correct.

Rotoworld Free Agent Hitters Article
RME JICO replied to RME JICO's topic in Sox Baseball Headquarters
I would rather take my chances with Nioka for a couple of years at $5/yr. I want nothing to do with Vizquel and Eckstein should stay in the NL. -
http://www.rotoworld.com/content/features/...p;article=28803 Sox related info: So the Sox could end up becoming the Giants of the American League, signing aging veterans (Vizquel and Hunter).
-
From Rotoworld: 6 years for an average of $15 million a year? He would be 38 when the contract expired. Ouch. I would rather have Rowand for a discount and use the savings to shore up the bullpen.

QUOTE(elrockinMT @ Aug 25, 2007 -> 09:50 AM) We are close to having the worse record in all of baseball, but we are all still Sox fans and the great thing about baseball is there is always next year. Let me feel the love! B) We might have the best worst team of all time.
-
Worst winning percentage in 20 years. We are the second worst team in all of baseball behind Tampa. They seem to have the #1 pick locked up, so I guess we will have to settle for #2. The good thing is we should have some crazy odds for the WS next year (great time to bet in Vegas).

Will Paul Konerko pass Frank Thomas's Sox HR record?

I say he gets to 400, but thats it. -
QUOTE(BearSox @ Aug 19, 2007 -> 07:39 PM) Because I think Dye will only be a shell of his former 05/06 self. I think 07 Dye is the Dye we will mainly see over the next 2 years. I don't think Dye's dropoff will be that bad. It will be somewhere in between - 30HR/85RBI with a .825 OPS.
