I like what I have seen from Sheets so far, but I am definitely not willing to bet that he is our next RF on that week of ABS. Even if he does hit a decent amount he is looking like a terrible defender out there.

So for the record, looking at FanGraphs, Andrew Vaughn is currently 10th in their defensive ratings amongst all LF with at least 240 PAs. 10th. He is 21st in OOZ plays. He is 17th in UZR/150, and 18th in arm. In half a season's worth of D measures, the kid is a middle of the pack defensive LF.

As of today the team is better with Vaughn in left and Jose at 1st. They are also better long term if AV has positional versatility.

Vaughn now up to 66 OPS+ from June 25 to July 2.

He has to be healthy. That's it. If he isn't, he doesn't help. If healthy, he's still a solid player.

If you have watched Vaughn play OF this season and think he can't pass in LF your Kool aid has a little something extra in it.

And then spend the next 50 years bemoaning all of the guys we lost.

The same people who think Andrew Vaughn will never reach his ceiling, and will always be the hitter he has been so far, I am guessing.

If you had said in January that on the 4th of July weekend that we would be cheering for Andrew Vaughn, Jake Burger, Danny Mendick, Gavin Sheets, and Brian Goodwin as starters, and hoping to get back Leury Garcia and Adam Engel as healthy starters, I would have been asking how close we were to the #1 pick.

Yet all your questions were about him not being good enough, and not about injury... but let me hear more about you not panicking.

DE-TROIT SUCKS!!! DE-TROIT SUCKS!!! DE-TROIT SUCKS!!!

Man I hope it isn't a fluke, but it is really freaking exciting to see some of the really young talent getting some big streaks going on.

The fuck? Hell no.

If you think this is worth panicking about, then I was wrong.

Maybe as a 2nd or 3rd piece in a deal, but his lack of positional ability will just kill his value. If he could catch at even a slightly below average ability, he'd be an MLB starter, somewhere.

That's not really true in 2021. Even if you price him at somewhere close to his April peak, no one puts a large price on DH's. That just doesn't happen anymore unless you are at the superstar level.

A healthy Sox team is going to pick up A LOT of homers from the rest of line up. Abreu, Robert, Eloy, are solid 30 homer bets on a normal season basis. Yas is going to typically give you something in the mid 20's. Tim is going to typically push 20 homers. Moncada isn't showing it this year, but he already has a 25 homer season to his name. Vaughn is probably going to be a 25-30 homer guy on the conservative side as he gets going. There is no reason to think even with Nicky and a guy like Frazier in the line up, that the Sox can't be a 200 homer team.

The amount of people who have made both Olympics has to be insanely small

There it is. Teams do this all of the time for non-suspendible offenses, they can damn sure do it for this one.

Every team knows Micker's status for next year, which will affect his price.

The Dodgers had the ability to take some action, they just chose not to do so. This take by the Dodgers was so bad, that it has been almost universally mocked by baseball fans and media alike. And there are many more like it. Pretend that the Dodgers couldn't do anything if you like, but it is not really true unless you draw a box around only MLB discipline.

Of course this is your take.
