The VAST majority of your retirement money should be in an SP 500 fund, whether that is the mutual fund offered by your broker, or the SPY/DIA type ETFs which mimic the Dow and SP. There is a 99.9% chance that you will fail at trying to beat the SP500 over your lifetime. Just buy it and hold it.
