  1. The 2nd Amendment doesn't need to be overturned. We've already accepted that laws can be made that restrict gun ownership. To those that say look at the person. Why do we have so many people in the US who use guns to kill so many people compared to the rest of the world?
  2. QUOTE (Middle Buffalo @ Jun 17, 2016 -> 12:47 PM) I don't trust people who don't swing their arms at all when they walk. It just looks weird. I played basketball in high school with a guy who clawed at the air when he ran. Almost like he was swimming. He was very slow, I guess he thought using his arms and hands might increase his speed.
  3. What I am trying to point out Alpha is each side agrees that there are people who should not have guns. How we get to that point is the struggle. Until both sides quit the b.s. theatrics, silly memes (really pencils and guns are the same), and all the other deflections, we'll keep having mass casualties. As a gun owner I am concerned that we'll go too far and good people will lose access to their guns. As a person who dislikes people misusing a tool and killing thousands of people every year in the US, I know we can do better.
  4. QUOTE (knightni @ Jun 17, 2016 -> 01:28 PM) Only when his wife is our wives are out of town. Fixed
  5. QUOTE (Y2HH @ Jun 17, 2016 -> 08:09 AM) Oh, I thought you were on your summer trip or something. Jury duty then my summer tour begins. Bend, Oregon, Santa Fe, Bayfield Wi, St. Germain, Chicago, and back to Texas.
  6. 90% of the coverage was about the gunman and his motivation. Less than 10% was the tool that he chose to use. You can't solve this by ignoring the tool that most of the crazies chose to use when they want to kill a lot of people. You also can't solve the problem by ignoring the person and their motivation. It all works in tangent. Yes there are other ways to kill people. The easiest is to buy a gun. Building bombs is harder. Hijacking a plane is harder.
  7. QUOTE (Middle Buffalo @ Jun 17, 2016 -> 01:02 PM) Does your father in law play cards and eat pizza?
  8. Just at home.
  9. QUOTE (Rex Kicka** @ Jun 16, 2016 -> 11:25 PM) Hey there, I've felt a metaphorical target on my back in places before for being gay, and although its faded quite a bit over recent years - it feels freshly taped on my back this week. In different ways several people I know have said the same thing after the shooting which has been rolling around in my brain. From someone who has shared a lot of posts through the years the target I see on your back is for compassion and empathy. So for whatever support a semi-anonymous person can send your way, it's there. Perhaps we are doing better as a society when one group is specifically targeted and those feelings are felt well beyond those that are targeted. The broader and deeper those ripples are felt the more together we become as a nation.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jun 16, 2016 -> 02:32 PM) The White Sox currency now is cash not prospects. Not a good match for Myers. Great point. And cash usually means veterans.
  12. QUOTE (JenksIsMyHero @ Jun 16, 2016 -> 12:56 PM) So my baby boy #2 came last week. The first 2-3 nights were instant reminders of how much getting up every hour sucked. But since then, this guy is only getting up once every 2-3 hours. Last night my wife fed him at 11:30, he got up at 2:30 and ate again and then didn't get up until we woke him up at 6:45. *knocks on wood* Hopefully the good luck continues! Congratulations. Our 10 month old grandson came to visit yesterday while mom and dad worked. I forgot how exhausting a kid can be. Plus he wasn't feeling well.

If I am understanding this correctly this is tongue and groove flooring. You seem to be trying to fit three boards deep on each step when 2 1/2 boards may fit better. The tread is what you step on. If your stairs were made with, for example, 16" treads and you are trying to fit (3) 6" boards on each tread can't you just rip the first board to fit then fit in the next two boards to fit? Looking at your drawing again, the new flooring is too deep and needs to be cut. Why can't you just cut the new flooring is what I am trying to say.
  14. QUOTE (bmags @ Jun 16, 2016 -> 10:04 AM) Yeah so I never stated we need to abolish libel laws, so no, that's not the opposite of any position here. I'm questioning the ethics of allowing some of the very powerful people in this world to use the legal system to financially punish media outlets they don't like. Peter Thiel was not libeled by Gawker. Hogan may have been, and this donald trump company was not. But he is making sure every law suit get staken to Gawker just so they have to pay for dealing with it. According to Gawker, the items youv'e heard about are justt one of mulitple he has lobbied against Gawker: http://gawker.com/now-peter-thiels-lawyer-...on-t-1781918385 Do you support all of these actions against Gawker? Do you support when Trump just threatens to sue any publication regardless of meriti just to punish them financially? Gawker has has access to the courts and could counter sue him as well if he continued to bring frivolous suits against them. EVentually he would lose a lot of money unless Gawker kept doing wrong. BUt you have a great point here that needs to be considered.

I must be missing something. Isn't this as simple as making the tread shallower to match what was already there? Why does the tread have to overhang the riser so much? You would rip the board that is closest to the riser. And I really like that trim work. If it is in the room with the staircase, I would try to incorporate that into the stairway design.
  16. QUOTE (Y2HH @ Jun 15, 2016 -> 07:16 PM) My first was on a Commodore 64! We're showing our age. Vic20 won in a sales contest. I didn't really do anything except learn a little BASIC. Cassette tape drive. LOL Then a 8088 used computer I picked up check.
  17. I was reading some of the tweets and other comments that flame the parents from Nebraska whose 2-year old was killed by an alligator and started wondering is the internet too harsh? These parents had just watched their child being eaten by an alligator. Do they really deserve to be vilified as well?
  18. Just to annoy a friend of mine from Chicago that I coach with here in S.A. I told him if the Cubs are in the WS I'm jumping on that bandwagon with both feet.
  19. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 15, 2016 -> 06:03 PM) And the timing isn't that bad at all considering it's the end of the school year across the country...could have been much worse. Still have a feeling that they stayed behind with their mother and didn't move to Chicago. That's my guess as well.
  20. QUOTE (Y2HH @ Jun 15, 2016 -> 06:59 PM) I started at 300 baud...and as for long distance charges, as was said in WarGames...there were ways around that. Actually now that I think about 1200 was my first. A prototype from Incomm Data a customer of mine at the time. Full card that fit in my 8088 case. Wow that was almost literally a lifetime ago.
  21. QUOTE (Y2HH @ Jun 15, 2016 -> 07:04 PM) Well absolutely. Sometimes they life the truth as opposed to living the lie and if you choose to do that through faith, again, I have no problem with that choice. So long as it's the truth. The only thing I take issue with in regard to this is basing a marriage on lies. If you have to lie about the things you did, are doing or will be doing, don't do them. I agree.
  22. QUOTE (JenksIsMyHero @ Jun 14, 2016 -> 10:17 AM) I remember the days of Prodigy before AOL. GEnie was the first I joined. Followed by Prodigy then AOL. Before that dialing into servers on my blazing 4200 baud modem was the way to go. Exec PC in Milwaukee and The Well in S.F. where two of my favorites. Long distance bills were killer at times.
  23. QUOTE (Y2HH @ Jun 15, 2016 -> 06:49 PM) Sometimes those couples are the worst offenders. And sometimes not. My in laws just celebrated 65 years of marriage. They credit their faith in keeping that marriage alive.
  24. He is one of the few conservative pundits that I enjoy listening to.
  25. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jun 15, 2016 -> 06:42 PM) I pretty much agree with you. I don't know why people cheat. I'll tell you one thing. I know a lot of you despise religion but I love watching the families that come to church every Sunday and sit by me. I feel like if God is in the equation for both partners they would never cheat. And if they do at least they are trying.
