And players. And when the player does take deliberate steps to recover, negotiating in their contract limited innings, not on consecutive days, etc the fans go crazy.

@ptatcI should have added "fans will say that they rushed him back. . ." Thank you for clarifying.
  3. Agreed. It also shows how he's just good enough to stay in the league, but not good enough to stay in a team.

Obviously there is a range to recovery times. No matter what they predict for a return date they will have rushed him back if he reinjures himself and if he doesn't, it will be forgotten. The team will not win this and it is always better to guess the team will get it wrong. It's the WS way.
  5. Serious question. Why would Ozzie want the job? Love if the franchise? Chance to prove himself? Money?
  6. Over the last 100 years. The Mariners may challenge for worst, but bottom five without a doubt.
  7. I guess we brought Tony back. But if you're a rising star among coaches would you take the WS manager position? I don't believe that's the pool we get to play in. Ex players, managers fired from other non elite organizations, and guys passed over a few times is our talent pool.
  8. Does that happen very often?
  9. Is that going to look good to the next employer? Add quitter to his resume? This organization is a career killer. No wonder we can't attract even middle of the pack talent.
  10. 1. Forget about winning, play your youngest players. 2. Get them in as many fights as possible to build team chemistry. 3. Get that resume out there to minor league teams. Maybe save your career.
  11. I remember sitting in a buddy's apartment watching the movie back to back to back on VHS. We were so drunk by the third time. I think we had most of the dialogue memorized.
  12. Pedro, here's a little inspirational movie clip to get the team fired up. It may even get some asses in the seats.
  13. Some sports like golf don't play a traditional conference/non conference schedule. Gymnastics, tennis, etc play tournaments which are everywhere. But your point is right on. I've lost interest in the semi pro versions of college athletics. I'm happy for the athletes and believe it's fair that they are getting paid (although not a piece of the pie they created). I also enjoy watching people play for the love of the game and am looking for opportunities to support that.
  14. He's not really wrong. How many times are we going to be lied to and keep going back?
  15. Me too
  16. Actually worse, you forgot Leury who played at all of those positions and more. (Ok, pitched in relief, but it's close.) Ah misty water colored memories ? ?
  17. I see it more as defending some *actions* as not being totally wrong. The FO hasn't been 100% wrong. But if you defend, for example, dumping Madrigal, then folks claim you're defending Hahn. I believe there is a difference.
  18. The next couple of years will be the equivalent of buying Amazon return pallets. You get all excited thinking it was a bargain then find the hidden damage and missing parts.
  19. You were pre internet? ?
  20. Park on broken glass for $30 same as now ?
  21. By the second and sixth innings the hitters were too tired from running the bases to score. Real men of genius.
  22. Flight time from New York to Mexico City is about the same as NY to LA. Someone will have to explain to JR what the p--- chant is. I'm certain if the soccer crowds use it, the baseball crowds will after a few years of JR and Co.
  23. Actually I was a huge supporter until about two years ago when I finally accepted the facts. And not Texas. Still too much competition for a JR led organization. Mexico City or Guadalajara would be perfect. Huge market. Huge appetite for baseball. Great fans.
  24. Sox Blanco in Mexico City or Guadalajara. Kenny can get direct flights from Arizona.
  25. Didn't they have Isaiah Thomas and Joe Dumars? Both Hall of Fame and top 50 types. Here's the crazy part. If we liked JR we would applaud his financial savvy to buy the Bulls right after they drafted MJ. Instead we chalk it up to luck and assume they would have screwed up the draft and picked someone else.
