I love an acquisition where the cash considerations were probably paid in Walmart gift cards.

Once again politics and life leave me pissed and sick. Five millionaires get unlimited rescue help, drowning immigrants are give razor wire by Texas governor Abbott.

Draft the best athletes available and trade them later if there is a log jam. There is no extra credit if you drafted your starting line up.

Will any of these guys DH and play first? No. Then I'm good. I set a very low standard and the team met the goal. Even a low standard is a standard.

https://theanalyst.com/na/2023/03/should-mlb-teams-be-bunting-the-ghost-runner-to-third/ While portraying Oakland A’s general manager Billy Beane in the movie version of Moneyball, Brad Pitt explained this line of thinking further: “If someone bunts on us, just pick it up and throw it to first. They’re giving you an out – just giving it to you. Take it. Say thank you.”

More clues about the mysterious G-man. Roots as a humble waterproofing sales professional. Did you ever feel threatened going into people's basements? Seems scary.

Athletic fired Fegan in Jun23, now hired with Sox Machine

The Sox need to find him a gig with a financially sound media company. -
Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor*? f*** it we're Sox fans and we've had worse teams out there. We are also a group of really knowledgeable baseball fans that can see beyond the mounting losses and occasional win. I'm suggesting we start a series thread much like the game threads. Whomever wants the honor, (I'd suggest @chitownsportsfan for the first one since he inspired this idea with a great suggestion, can preview the series and find a couple reasons why we should watch.) Win the series and start the next one and we'll ride your streak like Sea Biscuit. Lose the series and someone else does the preview. It might not be any heavy lifting, get the ball rolling and other posters will add to it. What to watch for could be an interesting match up, players being called up, maybe something from the opposing team. Hell, the last time I was really excited was to see if we could set some losing streak records. But find a couple reasons why we should watch. We could start with the Cardinals or after the AS break. *Animal House reference. Sadly some of you never heard of the movie.

That's a great idea. I'm going to start a thread but chance it slightly.

I haven't looked at the standings in weeks. I haven't memorized the schedule for the next couple weeks. I haven't thought about playoff chances. We made two passes through Chicago this summer and didn't catch a game (I assume tickets were available lol). Cancelled my MLB package and Athletic. Didn't check to see if they were playing in any cities our road trip took us near. Drove from Texas to Maine and never listened to a game. I'm planning on cancelling my sat radio as well. It's happened a couple times before. Late 80s when my kids were born. Again around the turn of the century when I moved to Texas. But I always knew I'd be back. This time, maybe not. I thought during retirement I'd spend a couple weeks following the team on a road trip and catch spring training every year. Now I'm thinking I'll be a bandwagon jumper if they ever rebound in my lifetime. I'm thinking Omaha will be my new favorite baseball party each year.

What if this is the blown up version? It's the crappy lineup to build draft picks.

https://blockclubchicago.org/2023/04/25/new-white-sox-mascot-meet-the-stray-sox-park-cat-adopted-by-team-photographer/ We couldn't even get that right. We stopped the feline revolution.

There was a time, up until about three years ago, I just enjoyed watching the games. I assumed we were about an average franchise. Then I saw the facts and it's been a downward spiral. I guess fooling myself for fifty or so years was a positive. But that's as a fan. As a reporter i think it's much different. Do you want to cover a WS team? Probably, it gets your by line out there more. But covering crap teams probably isn't that bad. You do get to see the opposition. -
Sorry you'll miss my appreciation for your comment. JR got it right once with this team, he'll do it again. But a sale to a ownership group that will move it to it's own market would be interesting. Oakland has a stadium in need of a tenant.

Everyday tasks that remind me of the Sox. "Whose turn is it to take out the garbage? It's starting to smell!"

TA to bench. Remilliard in and batting 2 nd. No brainer.

He'll figure it out one day and be his old self. Just have confidence. If you don't like the lineup see Jerry. -
Shitfest 2024 coming soon.

We all fell in love with a franchise that makes the playoffs once a decade and wins a WS once a century . . . why do we want that to change? Keep everyone.

Here's an idea. What would it hurt if they bring back an all star lineup? Dah Coach, Q, a HoF guy, and Phil, all sitting along side Oz. Sadly, it couldn't hurt, this team is that bad. G-man you know all the ways it could hurt. But I admire how you play dumb as a fox. I bet you were a huge Columbo fan back in the day. -
Meanwhile 500 refugees went missing at sea and no one looked for them.

What could go wrong with hiring a guy who has been out of the game for a long time, a history of drinking to excess, inflammatory rhetoric, and quitting on his team mid season when presented with a job offer from another team? Perfect JR move. -
This team is going to lose 90 plus games...
Texsox replied to LittleHurtCG's topic in Pale Hose Talk
This team would have been infinitely better with him in the dugout. So good in fact there would be dozens of threads declaring this is a team that should easily win the division except TLR is blocking them with poor managing. -
I think he's the classic baseball lifer who will make a great coach/ manager
-
I really want to agree with you, and in a couple divisions it's kind of true, but in the AL Central? No. The easiest part is beating this collection of shallow, little talent, teams. The hard part is beating teams from much better divisions. You're saying the hard part is beating the Guardians, Tigers, and Twins and the easy part is getting hot and beating the Rays, Orioles, Rangers, Astros, Angels?! The hardest part is accepting this team sucks. The easy part is finding less aggravating things to do like chat with telemarketers about extending my car warranty or Medicare supplements.
