  1. SPILL YOUR GUTSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS are they going to have Mike O'Malley host it again too?
  2. hopefully this thread isn't locked again all year
  3. QUOTE (kyyle23 @ May 11, 2008 -> 07:56 AM) Or Carlos Quentin and Adrian Beltre are two strong dudes. I thought all 3 balls were gone off the bat. All of those balls were absolutely destroyed.
  4. QUOTE (palehose23 @ May 11, 2008 -> 11:44 AM) Check the 1st day I posted this- I was just updating it. Why couldn't you just look at the first page? Its not random- Thome was out and people were talking about the future without him and I am just getting them prepared for 1 more year with him. This is the first page (for me), and it is random. So there.
  5. QUOTE (joeynach @ May 11, 2008 -> 12:00 AM) If the white sox have their way and are smart they wont resign the aging slugger who will struggle to hit .250 this year. Yeah he will still be a 30 HR threat but we can do better. I assume if hes not back they can platoon Konerko and Swish at 1B/DH until 2010 when his Paulies contract is up. That gives CF to a real CF'er, Anderson, Owens, any leadoff hitter or acquistion, etc. Still would be plenty of power, in Dye, AJ, Fields, Quentin, Konerko, Swish. I'd bet money that Thome puts up a .900 overall OPS and an OPS very near 1.000 against righties this year. If he does it hitting .250, so-f***ing-be-it. I still say getting rid of Thome would be a mistake for the Sox because I doubt there's any way the Sox can find a better LH option in the middle of the lineup next year for a better price tag.
  6. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ May 9, 2008 -> 10:48 PM) snb has to be in there some where. I'm going to guess snb is his wife...too young to be the mother, and too snb-y to be Dennis Higgins.
  7. why couldn't you have just put this in the catch-all thread? Just a completely random bump
  8. QUOTE (elrockinMT @ May 10, 2008 -> 01:46 PM) Crede is one of the best defensively in the game. You hear that even from the prejudiced ESPN announcers. Yeah but they don't see Crede on a day to day basis. From everything I've seen and read about Crede's defense, it's terribly mediocre this season, and you saying otherwise won't change my mind.
  9. QUOTE (fathom @ May 10, 2008 -> 07:53 PM) Indians are playing some good baseball. They're getting some good to great starting pitching. I still think they're the favorite in the AL Central, but it's very down this year. The Tigers pitching is awful, the Indians offense is mediocre, the Sox can't get base hits, and the Twins don't have power. I don't think there will be a clear cut favorite to win the division until about July or even a bit later.
  10. QUOTE (lostfan @ May 10, 2008 -> 01:34 PM) I feel the same about Juan Uribe. He blows hard, but he was lights-out at SS down the stretch and I'm not sure if we win without him. I have trouble finding a way the Sox win if they take out any player from that team. It is seriously damn near impossible. That team was the definition of team baseball.
  11. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ May 10, 2008 -> 01:59 AM) Paul's slam was definitely more dramatic. But the bottlomline is it was Podsednik's HR that actually won the game. And from my point of view, that's when the series ended. There was no doubt the Sox were gonna win after that game. So Blum's HR, IMO, wasn't as big. And atleast you give Pods his due for 2005. Many here don't. Which makes me appreciate what he meant to us that year that much more. Podsednik's a s***ty player, but I thank him dearly for his contributions to the team in 2005. Anyone that says they don't doesn't remember 2005 well enough or Pods pissed in their Cheerios. I still thought it was a triple off of his bat, so when that ball cleared the fence, I freaked the f*** out.
  12. QUOTE (easyw @ May 10, 2008 -> 12:34 PM) gotta love that hustle... Anderson had a similar one last night against Seattle, that, skillfully, he got in front of... fixed
  13. QUOTE (gosox41 @ May 8, 2008 -> 02:50 PM) Yep, KW managed to lock uo our 3-5 hitters w/ no trade clauses (PK is 10 & 5 guy) when these represent everything that isn't small ball. Good, cuz small ball f***ing sucks
  14. QUOTE (greg775 @ May 10, 2008 -> 02:34 AM) Brian is at the stage he deserves at least 300 at bats. C'mon Oz, get him some playing time. The Sox have Quentin in LF, Swisher in CF, Dye in RF, Konerko at 1B, and Thome at DH If you can tell me how the Sox can get Anderson 300 ABs without seriously f***ing this team, that'd be amazing. For now, I'll just say it's ridiculous to think he can get that many.
  15. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ May 10, 2008 -> 12:43 AM) Whitesox101, as good as that play was that Anderson made last night, it wasn't as tough as the play he would've had to make on the ball Mauer hit. As much as I love Brian (only Heads loves him more), he can't make every spectacular play. I love him more than you. I know this because I am the first to suggest that I would like to party with Brian. And I do. Cuz it'd be awesome. I also like when the Sox win, in case anyone didn't know that.
  16. QUOTE (Brian @ May 9, 2008 -> 09:09 PM) I miss Lil Hurt. I don't.
  17. QUOTE (Kalapse @ May 9, 2008 -> 05:10 PM) So who are the 4 people that voted for Crede? I have a pretty good idea Joe, his wife, his mother, and Dennis Higgins
  18. QUOTE (Heads22 @ May 9, 2008 -> 06:47 PM) Egbert's been crap this year. have you not loved him enough? cuz thats what he told me
  19. QUOTE (knightni @ May 8, 2008 -> 06:39 PM) I think that today's lineup was a step in the right direction. I would use this one, though. Ramirez 2B Cabrera SS Quentin LF Dye RF Thome DH Konerko 1B Swisher CF Pierzynski C Crede 3B Even if Ramirez gets on 1 of 4, he can make things happen on base. Then let him hit 9th; you don't give one of your worst hitters the most at bats on the team.
  20. It also depends on what you mean by "true contender." If you mean a World Series team, then I agree - I only think there is one true contender in the NL under those terms. If you mean "can make the playoffs," then I'll disagree, because the Cubs offense is top 3 in the NL.
  21. just gonna go ahead and say that I think Carlos Gomez is OK
